LETS GOOO JUST WHAT I WAS WAITING FOR

Julio Lopez

El mejor anime con uno de los mejores giros de guion !!!

Nick [ iNiKKo ]

Can’t wait to get back from work to watch this!

Peeker

are you guys gonna watch the Ilses Notebook OVA?

Layla

Super early reminder/ warning - when you get to season 3 pt 2……do not watch the opening credits 😅 (someone please remind them the closer they get)

starstrucker

Oak makes a great comparison of the shows layers of questions and I will say that we will get layers of answers back haha. It certainly will be a pattern guys! Anyways great reaction as always, yall are being aware of the major plot points and that is all I can ask of you :)

Sean Carroll

we cannot tell you anything about Eren's dad Grisha right now..........All in good time gentlemen

Sean Carroll

by the way Diamond Dave. Attack on titan has no filler, everyhing in every single episode is part of the story

Julio Salazar

So the main reason you get recaps in season 1 and parts of season 2 a lot before the intro is because in Anime, "seasons" follow arcs and some arcs are shorter than others sometimes they combine arcs to make seasons longer. During 2017 AoT was gearing up to some important points in the Manga so they were filling screen time with recaps to extend the seasons a bit and what they animated per episode without making filler episodes or filler content that wasn't part of the manga.

Isabel Schertel

The reason Levi is dressed "causally" is bc he's not actually part of the plan. He's still injured from the fight against the female titan so he has to drop out this time.

Regie Khemvisay

nope! dont give Diamond Dave anything lol

krai

Eren's dad is: I don't know 😛

aphrodiziac03

I think last we heard of Eren's dad was he was going to take a boat to an inner city and that was it. Loved the reaction and excited to see more!

Magda Ch

The only thing I can tell about Eren’s dad is that the last time he is shown on the show was that time in season 1 when he is injecting to Eren that serum, so we technically didn’t know if he was still alive or not 🤷🏻‍♀️ who knows

Julio Salazar

Also also to respond to Oak. The answers take time, BUT you are satisfied with the level of detail and response they give them to you at. I promise I know these few episodes seem slow. Its gearing up.

Magda Ch

I thought you would fall in love with this intro song 🥲🥲🥲 but I know you’ll love it when you see the live concert of the first song and this one, It may not be as epically fast as the first song, but Shinzo wo Sasageyo gives you that feeling of struggle, of human resistance against oppression, maybe one day you will listen to the AoT soundtrack with the lyrics, you will feel the songs differently 🤘🏼☺️

L AH

No one has talked about it in the show so far so that's clearly a spoiler ...

Sean Carroll

I agree, this opening is not actually that good. People overhype it as one of the best ever but I never cared for it

jahara daughtry

These next few episodes are a game changer lol my mouth is watering! Can’t wait for you guys to see what’s in store for the remainder of season 2. And season 3 you’ll get plenty of answers !!! And more questions lol

Jonas Teigen

dont worry guys there are and will be a lot of questions and layers, but they will all be answerd perfectly. Thats why this show is so good.

Ushna Seeam

Regarding Diamond Dave's question on Grisha Jaeger and whether he was still alive in season 1, here's what we know: in episode 1 of season 1, we see him showing Eren the key to the basement, which he then takes with him on his trip to the inner walls. Then Wall Maria is breached, Carla dies, and Eren flees with Mikasa, Armin and Armin's grandad to Wall Rose. Halfway through episode 2, we see Grisha on a wagon, hurrying somewhere and saying, "Eren, Carla, Mikasa, please be safe." In the next scene, we see Eren's dream about Grisha injecting him with something, which is confirmed as being a memory later in episodes 9/10. Upon waking from that "dream" in episode 2, Eren finds the basement key hanging from his neck. It is reasonable to assume, therefore, that Grisha met Eren after Wall Maria's fall, and gave him the key as well as that injection. What happened to him after that, and where he currently is, are still not known. It's really hard to answer this without spoiling anything! 😥 If anything's coming across as spoilery, please delete. 🙏🏼

krai

I'm just glad you understood the assignment. I thought you were gonna spill something in the end there...

krai

I will grow on them. If there were lyrics, they would love it. Personally my top 1 out of all opening is simply Opening 2.

Manny D.

Every one of us watched the opening credits. All of my anime only friends watched them and they were fine, because I wasn’t sitting there during “oh that’s a spoiler.” They’ll be fine.

L AH

That's the best explanation without spoiling anything !

Michael.Capp

Really good discussion guys! Love the theories you've come up with so far. This show has no filler unlike others so every scene has a purpose :)

Dorak

i think you really fall in love with the opening in the 2nd half of season 2, with *that* famous "Shinzou wo Sasageyo" moment

jahara daughtry

Yeah I don’t get the hype. I feel like it’s just nostalgia making ppl think it’s the best lol

Adam Espinosa

What impact does knowing his dad is alive have on the show? exactly, so calm down you nerds

Adam Espinosa

do you get alternative theories? Do you know something about the story that will unravel mysterious you shouldn't understand yet? like bruv, yall are so mad for no reason lol

Tiffany

What I love about this season is how horrifically confusing it is, on one hand you got the crew scattered about all the while experiencing their own battles, and on the other hand you got just.. weird coincidences? I don’t know how to explain this but this season gives me the heebeejeebees in the best way possible. You guys will continue to be amazed and stupefied, that I promise

Nico4play

Hey guys, just for sharing information, Attack on Titan doesn't really have any filler episodes that can be considered as such. There are a total of 6 episodes throughout the show that are canon mixed fillers; however, you should know that these "filler" additions were actually made by the manga creator himself (Hajime Isayama) and only add to the story. These mixed canon/filler episodes are as follows: •Episode 22 (Season 1, Episode 22) •Episode 33 (Season 2, Episode 8) • and finally, Episodes 38-41 (Season 3, Episodes 1-4). Also, sorry guys for this wall of text 🤣 but I genuinely love your reactions and I'm really looking forward to the next ones; I simply wanted to share some useful information to help you guys enjoy this masterpiece of a show without misunderstandings regarding these less action-packed episodes. In a show like this, you can say that these information episodes are almost more important than fighting against big giant dudes 🤣

Sean Carroll

Because you are telling them something that they didn’t ahouldnt know yet, please for decency’s sake delete your comment

Valeria Quezada

This isn't a spoiler at all but we know Grisha and Eren did meet up after Wall Maria fell because Eren now has the key. Grisha had the key when he left and Eren had it by the end of the second episode.

Buschi

Grishas (Erens dad) status is currently unknown. Last he was seen alive.

Adam Espinosa

nah they can delete it if they want, you still didn't show how it affects watching the show in any way, shape or form..

Tope

Because to be honest, it’s not worth that single moment. People want them to get to the meat of the show faster and sacrificing a week of content for an OVA that doesn’t add much to the story is not worth it to most people. Personally, I didn’t see the Ilse’s Notebook OVA until after season 2, and I straight up felt like it would’ve detracted from my experience watching it early in the season.

Mhyyy

there's more to it guys be patient 🤣

JJR10

To Oak's comment about how there are so many unknowns...I think the intention is for us as the audience to feel a bit like our protagonists. For them there are so many things tossing their knowledge of the world upside down with very little answers. And at the moment, our crew can do very little but stumble around in the dark to learn what they can haha

Yoyo

Yup, I commented last week recommending they watch that OVA before this episode 🫤

Zack Sutton

Make sure to watch the end credits when you watch episode 49 I know we aren't there yet but it's important

Jessica Tisdale

No one is gatekeeping anything. My personal opinion is that if you gotta tell them the absolute specifics of when to watch a OVA to a main story. It’s not work it but they’re gonna watch it anyway. Also let them watch the openings, it’s not that deep

Zack Sutton

You must not have been watching as it aired or realize the significance of that scene and that's ok if YOU don't appreciate why it was important at the time

Geewonie

I finished all your AOT reactions in 1 sitting 😭😭 we need more weeklyyyyy

Sean Carroll

its a logical response, not a cringe response. I started AOT in 2020 and didnt see the scene until I finished season 3 and started watching reactions. I never saw the point in it and am glad that I missed it and just watched the show naturally without that useless teaser

Alexiani Gollarza

I've wanted to get patreon for a while but what drove me to get it was the need to be watching their reactions on time🤣

Zack Sutton

I genuinely feel bad for you. For only the fact you didn't see it especially when it aired. The whole AOT community was a part of it. There was also a break inbetween so it kept everyone waiting and watching to see how the events progressed to that result when leaving on a pleasant note. If you watched weekly you'd understand.

Alexiani Gollarza

We kind of understand this in time, at first we want answers to the main questions not knowing the show is giving us information without us knowing. At the end of it all, maybe we should suggest a re-watch on some key episodes

Hyperaware

If they go to the basement and show you whats there with the little information or build-up we have now, it would not be significant at all, and thats just one layer of the whole story. Keep up the grind guys we know how much you guys work!

Hyperaware

And every detail and dialogue is important. I know the buildup is slow, but worth it👍🏼

Miki

The Oak (that is all I can say without spoilers hahaha)

aphrodiziac03

It was needed since like you said there was a big break till the next epi aired. It's definitely cool but I personally prefer people watching it later since they dont need the hook to wait 6 months or something for the next epi

Possible Changeling

NO SPOILERS In S1, Grisha Yaeger (Eren's Dad) was alive. He had gone to the capital on business for work, promising Eren he would show him the basement when he came back. Importantly, he took his key with him. When the titans attacked Shiganshina, Grisha was supposedly on his way back. Eren's hometown of Shiganshina was located in a pocket in the outer wall, Wall Maria, that extended past the wall itself; Still the same height, basically using human presence to draw titans to a smaller area as opposed to all along the entirety of the outer wall. When the Colossal Titan broke through the wall, he only allowed Titans into Shiganshina. When the Armored Titan broke through the next wall, he allowed titans into the outer wall, thereby filling one third of humanity's territory with titans. When Hannes rescued Eren, Armin and Mikasa, he took them within Wall Rose to a shelter. Eren had a strange dream about his father. He woke up and ever since he has had his father's key without knowing why. TLDR: Grisha's whereabouts are unknown. Nothing makes sense. Eren has his key for some reason.

Possible Changeling

Something I really like about the portrayal of the scouts is the utter lack of information and the sheer desperation by the military. If you remember, there was a guy in Season One during the Battle of Trost. He was a.... some sort of leadership position, he had brown hair and bags under his eyes and was the one that was screaming at his troops and even tried to fire a mortar shell at Eren because he couldn't prove that he was human. Rather than leading through charisma or bravado, this guy was straight up terrifying his troops, threatening any who disobeyed with execution and threatening and screaming at anyone who didn't get the memo, which is an amazing piece of worldbuilding. The people in charge of the military need to maintain order. Pixis even says in S1 that humanity probably won't be killed by titans, because if they lose any more territory they'll fall to civil war and hysteria first. The military needs to maintain order as much as possible, and that means even an idiot is useful as long as he can make people fall in line. And fear is a valid way to get people to obey orders, even if it's not the best way. Basically, things are rough, and I love this show's portrayal of its military. My father was a marine before he passed, and seeing stuff like this with generals and troops and wars makes me feel closer to him. Amazing show. Excited to see you guys watch more.

Rena Unnie

lmao, well spot on, they're adding more questions with just 2 answers :D

kassi

I get your sentiments, I really do. Ilse’s Notebook is my favorite OVA and it adds such a depth to the overall storyline of Ymir but Its alright for me if they watch that after S2

DalyDose

Manny D- who is this 'every one of us'? I'm watching through the show for the 1st time rn, and the 2nd OP of S3 is awful when it comes to spoilers. Just speaking for myself (you should too), but I'd absolutely skip that OP if i were them

Tatiana Ferreira

No spoilers here, but I think this explanation is necessary. The basement is in Eren's house in the Shiganshina distric next to wall Maria (first wall), which is titan territory since the first episode. The colossal and armoured titan breached it and the holes haven't been closed since. The hole Eren closed with the big rock was in wall Rose (second wall). So you see, they would have to travel very far in titan territory to reach that basement. They can't just go there without a plan. That's why they are trying to come up with a plan to close the hole made by the colossal titan first. Besides, there are plenty of things happening - the attack on wall Rose, Eren not understanding his power yet, the female titan trying to abduct him, now the beast titan... They can't just leave everything and go into titan territory for miles just to see what's in that basement. Ofc it is frustrating for us as an audience because we want answers😫, but it makes sense why they haven't gone to the basement yet. 🙂

Manny D.

Sure, let’s be pedantic: the vast majority of anime only watchers saw the show and didn’t skip the OPs. And the people who had a problem with “spoilers” were in the minority. The BM crew have even said watching the OP without context isn’t a spoiler for them. So speaking for myself, and BM speaking for themselves, it’s not the big deal that the small minority of people are insisting it is.

Asura

Why this isn't like youtube? I can't see anything
