I'm with Oak: PASS. I'm pretty much okay with gore and horror in general,and I love Stephen King, but that opening was gory for the sake of being gory, and that's just lazy. Tells me all I need to know about the quality of storytelling I can expect from this show. I'm out. EDIT: Yes, I realize Oak kept watching and may have even liked it by the end (I don't know, I didn't get that far). I'm agreeing with his reaction to the opening.

I'm watching it now and unfortunately I'm getting Chapter 2 vibes, not Chapter 1. I'm worried it'll rely on ridiculous, over the top CGI and jump scares instead of trying to build REAL FEAR.

Man. Idk if anyone mentioned it at all but this show is based on an actual thing that happened in the book. The timing aligns more with the movies and most of these characters, as far as I’m aware, weren’t mentioned in the book. The idea of this show is it will go back every 27 years. So for this it’s The Black Spot, 27 years before then The Bradley Gang Massacre, and then 27 years before that was Ironworks Explosion. All of those instances were in the book but the details were never really expounded upon. These do tie directly into The Shining and Doctor Sleep as well. I know I’m late but it’s mostly because I prefer to binge things than to wait for the next episodes.
