The breakup scene actually had me in tears 😭 I don't know if I'm just being overly-emotional but seeing him take all the blame like that and having his family so mad and disgusted at him and him just taking it just made me bubble over. He REALLY loved that lady.

This was such a great watch guys. Thank you so much for a romcom reaction from bollywood. The songs in this movie are in my playlist till date, will never get over them 😭 Wanted to also let you know that the "fake boyfriend Rahul" (Kartik Aryan) who came in as a cameo to make Mickey jealous is actually a lead from popular previous movies of this director, same as the girl who did the loyalty test (Nushrat Bharucha). They were a couple in the director's previous movie, so the cameos were really special. Also they threw in some fun references from those movies in the scenes with them, like when Rahul closes Tinni's mouth when he asks her what the problem actually is & she starts with "The problem is". This is a reference to his first movie with the director where he is asked the same question and goes into a full on 7 minute monologue about his problems 😂 Also the song they danced to together "Tum Hi Ho" is from the lead actress (Shraddha Kapoor's) biggest movie Aashiqui 2, and is an absolute legendary movie from hindi cinema, and the songs are listened to & loved till date. Also when the girl does the loyalty test and starts crying about how a guy left her cuz his guy bestfriend didn't like her, this is what happened to her in the director's previous movie with her & Kartik Aryan 😭 Overall really happy you are exploring more than just action (especially since bollywood is so great at drama & romance). So glad you enjoyed it & hope you check out Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani next, which is also highly voted on the website ❤️ And if you want to watch an indian series I would recommend the reality series THE TRAITORS (India) & Bads of Bollywood (fictional comedy drama series which takes you behind the scenes of bollywood, with big stars, directors etc starring in it) , they are a great watch ✨ (Sorry for this longg message haha)

First time watch for me, and it’s one of these cases where the guys’ reactions made the movie better 😅 It has an interesting concept and some good moments but overall I thought it was mid, a lot of the banter fell flat for me. Either I’ve seen too many better Indian movies in that genre or the Luv Ranjan style just doesn’t resonate with me because I also didn’t like his previous movie at all (this one is for sure much better though). I found the movie way too long for what it was but it’s because I just didn’t care for the dialogues, otherwise I totally agree with what the guys said in the review about length, when movies are too short it can feel incomplete, and in the case of romcoms or romances the viewers get way more involved with a longer run time. Our guys are such Ranbir stans now 😄 But they have barely scratched the surface of his filmo. One of his best performances is in Tamasha, a romance but also a powerful coming of age movie, where he is paired with Deepika like in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. Actually one thing that annoyed me in TJMM is that sometimes it felt like Luv Ranjan was trying to imitate Tamasha. For example the scene with their heads on the bar is directly copied from Tamasha but with none of the emotional impact of the original. I just logged in on Letterboxd to check the reviews for TJMM and the very first one just says « Tamasha for chutiyas » 😂😭 (for those who don’t know I’ll let you google chutiya lol) If you want to see Ranbir with long hair you have to watch Sanju, it’s the biopic on actor Sanjay Dutt (by the director of PK and 3 Idiots). Back in the 90s Dutt had a mullet so Ranbir too during a lot of the movie 😁 Dutt’s life has been pretty wild so I’m sure you’ll find the movie super interesting ! Fun fact : Ranbir is cousin with Kareena Kapoor (the lead actress in 3 Idiots) and is basically Bollywood royalty. His dad who passed away a few years back had been a major actor since the 70s and his grandpa Raj Kapoor was a leading actor and director of the 50s-80s (he was even popular in Russia, China and other countries). And Ranbir’s great grandfather was a famous actor during the era of silent movies (and after). Anil Kapoor (you may remember him from Mission Impossible 4 or Slumdog Millionaire if you’ve seen it) is also a leading actor in Bollywood and his dad was cousin with Ranbir’s great grandpa 😅 And that’s just the tip of the iceberg of the Kaooor family tree lol. Also, Ranbir is now married to Alia Bhatt, currently one of the best actresses in India, you saw her as Sita in RRR but she has an incredible filmo with lead roles. Her movies Rocky Aur Rani and Gangubai Kathiawadi are among the most upvoted on the BM website 😁 Ranbir’s next movie (next year) is actually with Alia.

You should try watching Tamasha also with Ranbir. It's not streaming anywhere in the US so sadly I don't think BM can react to it anytime soon 😩 but if you are not in the US or if you use a VPN or the website Einthusan (a life saver for fans of Indian cinema who live outside India) you can probably find it. There was a scene in TJMM that was lifted from Tamasha, and some other elements felt inspired by it too even if the stories are different. Tamasha gets a lot more serious as the story progresses. For a lot of people me included Tamasha is a masterpiece.

1:21:30 when our main guy says ralia, he’s referring to his and his wife’s name irl combined skskssj. he is ranbir and his wife is alia. 1:22:00 this is a very popular song by very very famous arijit singh and it was for a movie called aashiqui 2 which was EXTREMELY popular and the female lead in that movie was shraddha kapoor, who is our female lead in here so that was a nice callback 😭😭

I laughed so much harder watching this with you guys than I would have otherwise! Also, I'm amazed how well you guys can follow along in the captions while you're laughing - I constantly have to rewind!

The music seemed familiar to me too, it reminded me a bit of Can You Save Me by Flint Eastwood
