Really enjoying the show so far (haven't watched the new episode that came out today yet). It's such a mindfuck through the first couple, and Rhea Seehorn is, as expected, fucking awesome. (Also just FYI, her first name is pronounced “Ray”)

I watched the third episode earlier. It definitely has the slow pace known from Breaking Bad and especially Better Call Saul. But that’s something we’re used to. At the moment the series is planned for two seasons. But Vince said in an interview that they could imagine it going on longer. Similar to how it was with Breaking Bad back then.

Quinn: asking about how they did the promo stuff, they very intentionally kept it super vague and mysterious. Vince has said he doesn’t want people to know what to expect at any point for however long this show ends up going. So yeah, they had very, very little in the trailers.

Breaking Bad remains at the top of my "best TV show" of all time, list. That doesn't mean it's my favourite show. There are other shows I love more, but BB was the best written, produced, acted, etc. So I have high hopes for this, but it has to be great to get anywhere near BB, for me.

Diamond Dave, when you guys react to DARK, there are three main things to know: 1) SUB NOT DUB. The English voice actors are awful. (DARK is a German show) 2) The entire series (three short seasons) was written before they started filming, so absolutely everything was in place - they could plant clues and avoid continuity errors because the whole story was completed. 3) USE THE SHOW'S WEBSITE! The website for DARK is the greatest website for a TV show I've ever seen. DARK has a lot of moving parts and a lot of characters, and it can be difficult to track everything that's going on. The website is brilliant - on the main page, you tell it what season you're in and what was the last episode you saw, and then you can go through the whole website without getting spoiled, because it's coded to only show information *up to the point you tell it to*. Every TV show should have a website like DARK's. You can click on characters, places, objects, events and it will reveal everything that you have already seen. It's perfect for a pre-reaction catch-up because you cannot get spoiled, but you *can* get specific details! I have no idea if you'll see this - I'll ask DDG for a favor and have him drop you a line with this info. You guys will *freaking love* DARK. Thank God they were clever when they put up the trailer for this show because at first, when I watched the trailer, it felt like a True Man Show or an alien invasion thing, but when I watched it, my theory was wrong. Also, Diamond Dave, I'm with you that it was spread airborne, which is why they show those cloudy lines in the sky because its the fastest way to spread it.

That's a shame! I think it's brilliant and it looks like plenty of folks would also like them to watch it (it's on the first page of TV recs when sorted by upvotes). I know it can be annoying when people are reccing stuff you don't think is very good (there's plenty of stuff recced for and watched by the guys that I don't care for), but everybody's different, and nobody wants someone going "The thing you like sucks!", so I just don't interact with those properties. There's plenty of other stuff to watch! 😃

The theater group Team Starkid has a show called The Guy Who Didnt Like Musicals and a main point in that show was alien body snatchers hive mind where one of the characters says they are here to accomplish world peace is this where they are taking this show alien body snatchers who take over the world for some kind of twisted world peace its giving me kind of vibe

"Sub not dub" should be a hard and fast rule in like 99% of situations. I'm not sure I've ever seen a dubbed version of a TV show/movie that was as good as the subtitled version. Like, first one that comes to mind is Squid Game. The dubbed voices are SO BAD in that show it makes it unwatchable. The movie Brotherhood of the Wolf (which I would absolutely, 100% recommend the guys watch) is another example.

I can’t quite decide if I like this show so far or not. It’s only the first episode though and the premise is really intriguing so I’m gonna keep going. It might turn out to be like The Expanse, which took several episodes to finally hook me.

I am absolutely intrigued. I was worried it would just be another zombie show, if that was the case I would be done after this episode. But I'm so glad it didn't play out that way. Really creepy with everyone after being taken over despite not being violent whatsoever. In some ways this almost reminds me of the first season of Peacemaker with the butterfly's in the aspect of a foreign source taken over ones mind and body. Wonder what next week will hold for us. I don't have an AppleTV+ subscription so I can only watch this when you guys upload yalls reaction.

I just hate reading shows because I frequently do other things while a show is on, and if too much of it is subtitles, it makes it hard for me to do so. Ironically I always watch with captioning / subtitles because it is easy to miss things that are said when you are watching something. But I don't like having the choice taken from me for a whole show. Just a personal thing from someone with really terrible ADHD.

I completely agree, no need to watch trailers - You'll just spoil things for yourself if you watch the trailer for something you plan to watch anyway. Or in some cases the trailer will oversell the movie. I only watch a trailer if I'm really reluctant to watch a movie (without reason) and need it to kickstart my interest. Speaking of which, I totally did that for this show cause I had no intention of watching it until I saw you reacting to it - big whoops! MQ is completely right, I completely spoiled ep 1 for myself. In my defense, I went in blind with The Glory, was super traumatized by the graphic violence and cruelty and didn't want to go there again.

I feel like this show is putting together various sci fi themes of takeovers: alien, lab created virus, zombie (when they twitch, and the fact they lost their personal consciousness, it gives a zombie vibe), and AI. All the people taken over speak like AI. They have all the knowledge about everything, but no individuality, no personality. Eveything is just stating facts in a chap GPT manner. As to trailers I also often avoid them. I may watch 30 secs but not the whole thing unless I really don't know if I want to see the movie or not. Or I might watch it full if it's the adaptation of something I've already seen or read. But too many times they confuse making a trailer with making a summary hence why I avoid them!

As someone in research science, I was pretty interested in seeing the scene around 6:31 in the episode. Do people think that research labs run like a conveyor belt at a factory where people are all performing specific tasks? It can be bit like that, but less so than the show may make it seem. I am curious as to how others percieve lab spaces and how they work! I personally work in a scientific research institution and wonder if people outside of science see it this way...
