So Tired

Clicked so fast. Been waiting to watch this.

Soo excited for this since I saw the trailer. Hoping it's as good as the hype was!

Aria Isara

Can I watch this if I've never seen any of the related movies?

Badd Medicine

I believe so, but hopefully some other folks drop in with their thoughts as well.

So Tired

Yes, you don't need to watch other Predator movies to understand Badlands, as it's designed as a standalone entry.

There’s a few references and background things you’d miss, but overall I think you absolutely can!

Hey now. No need to take shots at my beloved AVP🤣🤣 This was cool. Didn't love it but I look forward to seeing some of the female Yautja if there's a sequel. I could be wrong but I don't think we've seen one yet.

Oak’s thoughts were exactly mine. If someone just told me or I just read the synopsis I’d be like wtf. But goddamn if I didn’t enjoy it beginning to end.

Lauren

I just love this movie. From the storytelling aspect and planet to the twist. Who doesn’t love an underdog story?

Diablos Cafe

So glad y’all seen my comment regarding the subtitles, I literally was regretting buying the movie because the subtitles weren’t popping up until I watch a reaction and seen that you had to have the subtitles off. 😂😂😂

Dan Trachtenberg is 3 for 3 with the Predator IP. If you had told me 15 years ago we'd have good Predator and Alien content (Romulus and Alien:Earth) I don't think I'd believe you, and I liked Predators.

Ayojii

Went to recommend Prometheus after watching this, hoping we get that and Covenant after.

ElmSt Reactions

That was pretty entertaining, like you said, it is a massive risk and folk will hate it but I enjoyed it

In all the talks about callbacks and references, I'm surprised none of you caught the biggest/most repeated callback they did. It was to "Prey", not the original film, but the repeated instruction to "bring it back" is what Taabe said to Naru when they were hutning the lion (and later fighting the predator). That was kuhtaamia -- her hunt as a right of passage -- just like this is Dek's. I was very pleasantly surprised by this film. I hadn't followed the pre-release info so I didn't know much more than "Outcast Yautja working with a half-body human android". I like how they did some internal rules-lawyering to get Dek to accept Thia's help. Yautja hunt alone, and Dek's whole goal is prove that he is a REAL Yautja, so if he accepted her help then he has already failed. But, Yautja do use tools in their hunts, so if Thia is just a tool, then Dek using her to hunt the Kalisk...well, that's still him hunting alone, right? It made sense internally to allow them to tell the story they wanted to tell. I was surprised that there was no connection at all to "Predator: Killer of Killers". I assumed that KoK was a prequel that would lead into this film, and that we would eventually return to the Yautja homeworld and run into Kenji and Torres on the run. At least get some sort of cameo or shout-out. I know Dan Trachtenberg has said that he already has a plan for at least one more Predator film, so maybe the plan for all of his films (Prey, KoK, and Badlands) is to collide in that grand finale. We can only hope. All told this was an enjoyable film and a solid entry in the Predator franchise. After so many disappointing films in the '00s and '10s, it's fantastic to have so many good movies now.

I really enjoyed this but i definitely couldve done with less comedy from Thia throughout the movie. I think she was just a little too happy-go lucky for me,and made the movie feel less threatening if that makes sense. I really respect the risks they took, and like Quinn said its great that they wanted to really try something different. I think it worked overall.I would just say, that if they do a sequal to this story it should be much more serious in tone. Like i think the buddy comedy thing couldve just been a reluctant teamup where they both need to use eachother and are upfront about that, but learn to have respect for eachother kind of thing and end up wanting to be a real team. The fight scenes were all extremely entertaining and creative. The scenery and planet itself was both beautiful and dangerous. Bud was incredible and i felt like she didnt overstay her welcome and they put her in for the perfect amount of time. The villian was good enough with it being Tessa as a face for the company. Loved how Dek used the environment for the last battle Also really loved the immediate callback and homage to Prey at the beginning, with the different predators killing and then being killed by a bigger predator, also the "Bring it Home" quote from Prey that Dek and his brother were using. Which was spoken by Taabe to Naru. I could keep going forever with the things i liked,so overall id give this a 4/5 answers. It couldve been a 5 for me if it had less comedy and was more serious, but i did like the comedy that was there overall.

As one of my dads 5 daughters, I was always the one to see these action type movies with him just to spend time with him. This is one of the few I actually really liked.

Aria Isara

I forgot to come back here to comment but I loved the movie! The comedy didn't throw me off, actually I was mostly interested in watching because I love Elle Fanning and I think she is great at this sort of comedy so I was kind of expecting humour from the get go 😄
