I’m curious about this movie. Interested to watch with you guys

Imp Jacobs

Oh boy. This movie hit hard in the theater. Super excited for this one!

Money-Kate Olsen

Thought I was going crazy with all the good reviews on this, but Oak summed up my thoughts. It was one of the shortest movies I’ve ever seen but felt like the longest. Should’ve been a short segment in a horror anthology like the V/H/S series. And somehow it was less scary than an RL Stine story and twice as boring. I get what it was trying to do, but the execution was terrible. -2 out of 5 stars for me.

Esmi

First time in a long time I side with Mason Quinn’s take over Oak’s 😂. Oh well, thanks for watching it 🙏 Never change Oak, I respect your takes, even when I don’t agree 💯 🙂. I do agree the pace of the film is definitely noticed (at least for me) & yes, for a feature film less than 80 min, thats not good. Call me biased bc Im only a dog mom but I still enjoyed it, 3.75/ 5 for me personally. I forgot who mentioned it, but I do think this also coulda been an awesome 45 min short. But hey, it’s the guy’s first film, let’s hope he learns from his mistakes & does better next time. Love when Oak gets passionate (good or bad), very entertaining either way 😝. Catch y’all on the next one ✌️

I really loved the premise of this movie. I agree with MQ that that a bigger budget could improve the outcome. Either way, I'm a sucker for dog and Indy won me over. I'll give it 3.75/5

Kalkent

I think that might be the lowest score on BM. Damn Oak! Totally agree with you btw :)

Eugin FT

Lauren

This shows exactly why I love this channel. Your differing perspectives always make a very objective and well-rounded take. Thanks for always being honest and open!

Alyssa Dyson

to be honest i was kinda bored watching this movie so i wont rewatch it but the doggie is adorable and is a good boy and did a good boy job lol

DustinEatWorld

Check out the classics „The Others“ or „Spirited Away“ 😅

Esmi

Don’t forget the gem known as “Saltburn” for a frustrated MQ rant during the end discussion. Can’t look at bathtubs 🛁 the same since then, iykyk 😬

Maisie

This just made me really sad.

Magda Chonillo

I think what makes this movie different is that everything is told from the dog’s perspective, and the dog’s performance is actually amazing. The camera movement really helped sell that feeling — it genuinely felt like we were seeing the story through the dog’s eyes. I do think the horror elements could have been pushed a bit more: maybe more jump scares, stronger use of music, or more tension to really make you feel that something bad is lurking. When I saw it in the theater, I honestly didn’t feel like it was short. It might feel a bit long to some people, but for me — probably because of the dog (and because I love dogs) — it kept me engaged the whole time. I never lost interest or felt disconnected. I did wish we could’ve seen a bit more about the family’s mystery, but at the same time, since everything is from the dog’s perspective, it makes sense that we don’t get full explanations. The dog doesn’t understand curses or family history — it just senses things. In the end, it did feel a bit low-budget, but still interesting. I enjoyed it.... By the way, Indy won an Astra Film Award for Best Performance in a Horror or Thriller. It definitely sparked mixed reactions online, especially since he was competing against human actors… and still won 🐶

Magda Chonillo

Yeah, totally 😂 Honestly, it wasn’t that bad, I think the dog made me enjoy it 🐶

Virgil

I understand the mixed responses. It's slow, can feel a bit boring at times, but i still found myself liking the movie. Not cuz it was gripping, or scary, but different. The change of perspective i really appreciated, and seeing something new in a genre that is constantly over-dramatised or done cheaply. I also base my enjoyment on cast and crew, taking into account the budget, number of people, how many films they've made in the past etc. not to mention it took 3 years to make so they didn't overstimulate Indy, so all that adds some positive points at least for me. Saying that, I do like honest opinions instead of pandering, whether i agree or not, so don't stop being you!

Ashley K

I'm with Oak. I thought they had a good idea but poor execution with lack of depth and plot. I feel like they could've done a lot better job even with their small budget as a short film. Indy was awesome though. 1/5 for me, only because of Indy. Maybe even 0.5/5.

Kalkent

Oh i have. But I don't recall anything below 0.25.

Kalkent

Yeah, that's one of my fav reactions of the guys. I knew beforehand that movie wasn't going to be their cup of tea.

Zoe S

Check the scores for Last Airbender (movie) lol🤣

Steven Jump

It was boring as hell, but I disagree that the mud creatures was the dog's idea of death. I think they were supernatural creatures that have been killing owners of this house for generations. They kill by giving them cancer or which appears to be cancer. This had some good ideas, but weren't realized. I would have given it a 1 at least not a 0.25 like Oak.

Rae

As someone who has studied film, I love this movie so much. I knew this film was about a dog's pov in a horror film, and that's it. Just from that alone, I knew I would love it. Especially since it's so unique. I am happy it got all the awards it did. Unfortunately, some movies won't get a big enough budget to do some things. The entire funding came from the writer/director's school, crowdfunding, and some personal contributions. Knowing all the constraints he was working with and that most of it was shot by him or his wife (because of the low budget), this film is great.

Bri

First time watch for me, saw on Google it popped up as a horror and I was like bet! Color me surprised that's it's over and I'm crying. 😭😭 I did like the horror elements to this film. I figured it was a low budget project given the effects of the death character, but I still felt scared for the dog and tense during it. The running up the stairs actually did make me jump lol. But I first teared up when the owner fell, and the door slammed, and Indy started barking for the first time. I think having him not bark til then really showed how scared he was and it made me sad thinking about how scared a dog would be if their owner died and they were all alone and trapped somewhere. The second time was at the end when the guy called him a good boy and told him that he can't go with him, and Indy just sat down waiting. Tears streaming! 😭😭 Like the title is so accurate, he is a good boy. 😭 It also made me think about those stories where dogs don't know that their owner died. For example, soldiers that never make it home but the dog is still looking for them. Also there's a few stories about dogs who would wait at a bus stop everyday, not knowing that their owner has passed away. Maaan, dogs can be so loyal. This ending just broke my heart. 💔

Bri

I think it actually did represent death and that the family all died young because cancer runs in the family and this was how they chose to visually interpret that.

JenVonLee

This movie is one of the very few occasions I'd like to see an indie film remade with a better budget. I thought the idea was fantastic... but the execution was so amateur hour it took me right out of it, couldn't invest at all.. and I say that as someone that loves super low budget found footage horror movies. Something about this was just so.. lacking. The dogs performance was amazing, every human involved let it down lol. Weird.

Diablos Cafe

I need to know what else Oak gave a low score 🤣

fatoumata cisse

he rarely gives negative scores. he usually has the highest scores🤣. like he gave the Others a 2, and I think that's what his lowest was before this movie.

Diablos Cafe

At the end they say he gave other movies a lower score lol

ZuZu

I think he gave the first Five Nights At Freddy's a 0.05.

Donna Castellano

That seems like an issue with a lot of media these days. Stuff that should be a 20 minute short is a 2 hour film and stuff that should be episodic television is an hour and a half movie.

Spicy Meatballs

If Oaks saying it wasn’t scary, that says a lot and I agree with him lol.

Katie

twilight

Katie

Honestly if it wasn’t for the dog I’d never be interested in watching this and would have scored it in the negatives but I’ll give it a 2 for Indy

Katie

also a lot of the music is just overlapping someone out of screen trying to get Indy’s attention lol

Ryan Holmes

I had to watch this reaction on 1.5x speed after only 20-30 minutes. What a bore fest

Aubrey

This felt like watching a film school film to me, and while it definitely did feel longer than an hour and 8 minutes, I appreciate what they tried to accomplish. I loved the camera work, and Indy was wonderful. It didn't have a lot of dialogue, but I was constantly scanning the background for shadows and such, so I stayed engaged. I liked the choice of giving death a physical form instead of just making it a shadow. We can see the darkness seeping out of Todd after he's had his blood drawn because Indy could sense that's where the poison was coming from. Parallel that with the comments he makes about the basement smelling and then how awful Indy smells when he finds him covered in basement dirt. I don't think they tell how much time has passed since Grandpa died, but we can assume it's been a bit. If decay smells that bad to humans after months or years, imagine how someone so near death must smell for animals, so the decay monster made sense to me. In September we lost my aunt after a long battle with Alzheimer's. If you know what that journey is like, I'm sorry. Watching her cat cope in her last days was tough, but seeing him after her final ambulance ride to the hospital was devastating. She would ultimately be transported back home where she passed a week later. While her boy is still here, he's not the same kitty he used to be. I made it through the movie and the review just fine, but thinking about it after left me in tears. I understand why Oak didn't like it, but this is one that will stick with me for a while.

Jenna G.

He gave Saltburn a 1.5 🤣
