Oak there was no cgi on those actors, taz (Sanji) & Iñaki (Luffy) absolutely put in the work

If memory serves, the reason Luffy didn't try to stretch while carrying Nami is because his Gum Gum moves create a lot of recoil, and they were trying to be careful not to hurt Nami more. Really though it's just to create a more dramatic scene.

They asked Jamie Lee Curtis to play the "witch", she's a big fan of the show, but she was filming a movie in LA. It wouldn't have been possible to do both since this show films in South Africa.

none of the abs are cgi. all the actors worked extremely hard for their roles. however luffy’s actor said keeping a 6 pack is extremely hard so he most likely just had it for this episode 😂.

One of my fav things about One Piece is how they're always changing clothes and outfits based on the island's culture or climate/environment. Sometimes I wonder how often Tanjirou washes his checkered cloak in Demon Slayer, that thing's been through hell.

In the anime, the doctor frequently came down to treat the people. In fact, as Luffy was heading up, the doctor had come down and was treating people in the town. I’m a little disappointed they didn’t include any carnivorous rabbits that Luffy and Sanji had to battle on their way up the mountain.

When I first watched this episode and saw Dr. Kureha (doctorine) was played by Katey Sagal that was my first reaction as well 😂 Hey, that’s Gemma!! She’s perfect for that role.

Controversial opinion I guess, but I actually didn't like Usopp snapping at Zoro like that. Usopp is pretty much always the one whining and complaining about everything, but when Zoro expresses real concern about his friends (and not himself like Usopp usualy is) and is having self doubts, he gets yelled at.

He’s stated that he’s REALLY proud of his body and even told fans to make thirst trap edits of him lmao. The thought of cgi bodies is funny af😂

After the last two episodes, the development they gave Usopp, it makes sense that he would act like that, I have never watched the anime or read the manga but I've been told that Usopp doesn't get major character development until way later on in the story, obviously with the timeframe the live action series has, they kinda have to push certain things a little earlier.

The reason why Luffy didn't stretch is because the force from Luffy springing to places jerks you around and that could've hurt Nami. Not sure why they didn't include this line in the show since it was in the anime.

so about the mountain climbing and gum gum, if you'll remember when luffy first ate the fruit, his arms didnt stretch that far. you can think of it as the arm length stretching to equal his growth or you can think of it as it growing as his power/strength grows :)

bartololmeo made sense. making him interact with them & with smokers speech about what he’s fighting against then him mirroring luffy’s wanted poster…ppl can see that’s when he became a fanboy. according to the cast oda knows where he wants the live action to end. so it might be the only scene we get him in or it’ll tie together later on.

Still, Bartolomeo did not appear that early in the anime and it wasn’t necessary. He’s a minor character and not necessary for the plot to move forward, so adding him is fan service. Adding the rabbits would have been fan service too. 😎

nah i don’t think it was just fan service. showing him here is great for the plot. proving what smoker was saying is true. although he wasn’t shown in the anime or manga, it is canon that he was there. it’s not a 1:1 adaption. so moving things around & making him known isn’t out of pocket.

I think its because Luffy in the anime is more casual with his devil fruit and is constantly using it around his crew that we see how it hurts them sometimes but for obvious reasons Luffy doesn't use his DF as much in the live action which is understandable but kinda sad because its one of my favorite things in the anime

I think there are a few reasons Luffy didn't use his Gum Gum powers. First, like others have said, the length at which he can stretch his arms is still growing, so he wouldn't have been able to reach the top. Second, even if he were to stretch as far as he could, there's no guarantee he'd be able to grab a safe handhold. One of the most if not the most important aspect of rock-climbing is finding safe hand and foot holds, and imagine if he'd managed to grab a handhold with Gum Gum only for it to break under his and Nami's combined weight halfway up. Third, Luffy's power is rubber and therefore elastic. As we see with him catching Sanji, that means there is recoil. It's not like a rope he can slowly ascend with. It's more like a slingshot. And for him to attempt to slingshot his way up the mountain, trying to grab new handholds along the way, with a desperately ill Nami is highly unsafe and is more likely to result in her being injured or worse. If it was just Luffy climbing the mountain for fun, yeah, he'd probably give it a go, especially if it wasn't an icy mountain like this one. But his priority here is getting Nami safely up the mountain, and using Gum Gum to ascend isn't safe.

They got Kureha (Doctorine) looking exactly like Anime & CGI for Chopper for was impressive, glad they went with a Similar voice too, I KNEW you guys would love Chopper already hehe (look forward to seeing if Quinn's curiosity questions about him get answered) DD's "How dare they take out the comm, what did that Snail do to anybody" gave an unexpected laugh 🤣 loved all your reactions to Luffy's facial expressions, saying "What Is That?" so glad you all got to meet a bunch of new characters, gonna be so much fun seeing your for reactions for them in future & did my ears deceive me or did Answer call Wapol "King Waffles" (during the eps) but also like Quinn's nickname for him too with "King Hippo" hehe 😂

Same Zoro didn't even do anything. But this is probably because Usopp had misplaced anger due to feeling not useful to the crew. We may see this more expanded on throughout the seasons if we get to W7 arc

Yeah not sure why they didn't add this. Sanji explicitly said not to do anything that could hurt Nami. Luffy couldn't fight or use his powers. The only reason Luffy stretched his neck for Sanji is because Sanji would have died if he did not do anything to help.

There was some make-up there to accentuate their abs but yeah they worked hard for em and are pretty proud of it. Inaki actively promoting the episode it during the press tour as well.

Very well explained, couldn't have said it better. If he can't see what he's grabbing onto, it'd be a very risky climb. And while the guys tied Nami as well as they could, there's no way of guaranteeing that the recoil of using the Gum Gum powers wouldn't shake her loose at one point. It would also get Luffy far away from Sanji, and then he wouldn't be able to tell when anything happens to Nami (like getting loose).

Agreed. Gum gum “try to find a hand icy hand hold blind”. In the anime it was all about comfort and safety. Sanji gave Luffy strict instructions not to jump around in case Nami got worse. When they were attacked by a herd of angry giant snow rabbits Sanji forbid Luffy from any fighting and took them all on by himself.

For Badd Medicine’s information a lot of the actors worked hard to be as fit as they are especially our 3 guys Sanji, Zoro and Luffy all actors put in serious serious work to get their physiques and the fact they have to keep up with it to not lose their new physiques for these roles the dedication is amazing especially the actor playing Sanji his real name Taz. So please don’t downplay their hard work of course I know that wasn’t your intention but I don’t want their hard work to go unnoticed. Taz shows a lot of his workout on his social medias. Even doing alot their own stunt work. Gotta give credit where credits due. 👏🏽💛❤️💛

You guys are wondering why luffy didn't just fling them up there or stretch his arms up whipping himself up, you all forget about nami lol who is barely tied onto him, on the litteral verge of death and your wondering why he didn't just fling her up the freezing ice and snow covered mountain????? It's an icy mountain, in freezing weather, night is coming, its snowing, its windy, its like worst case scenario, and you expect him to just launch his way up? With nami dieing on his back lol, this scene like in the anime, is treated very realistic, it makes sense why he climbed and in the anime he barely survived the trek himself much more so then how its portrayed in the live action, this is a major luffy moment in the anime.
