Maki and Mais back story always makes me cry. Already being looked down upon for being women and also being a "bad omen" due to being twins. Again, Heavenly Pact is very important. They explain - Maki and Mechamaru BOTH have a Heavenly Pact. But in opposite directions. Mechamarus body was taken away but he was granted excess cursed energy. Makis cursed energy was taken away, but was granted a superhuman body and superhuman physical abilities. Also just to clarify, Mai is pronounced MY, not May. Just saying as the woman with the big blue braid who loves money is called Mei, pronounced May.

How are you guys doing the release for the end of the season? Just asking as it goes 18/19/20 and 21/22/23 and then 24 then the movie. Will it be 4 episodes together with the movie the week after? Or 24/movie? The movie is cannon and has to be watched and it's great, jjk 0 🫶🏻

this gets important later on in the show, so: 1. Incase you guys didn't fully understand the whole Heavenly Pact thing (also translated as Heavenly Restriction).. it's basically a forced pact once a sorcerer is born, they don't get a choice in the matter really. Eg: Mechamaru is physically weak, like super weak, missing an arm, etc. - but he has a ton of cursed energy Maki Zen'in is the opposite, she has zero cursed energy, can't even see curses without her glasses - but in exchange has superhuman strength/speed/reflexes (hence why she was able to catch the bullet) 2. another thing to remember in the back of your brains, a couple episodes ago they mentioned that Megumi is also from the Zen'in bloodline 3. remember the name Okkotsu Yuta, he's the one 2nd year they keep mentioning who is abroad (they showed him briefly in the previous episode when Panda was talking) 4. people probably mentioned this already, but after season 1, please watch the movie, then afterwards season 2 and 3 5. also season 2 has a couple of episodes that were redone in Bluray with some improvements in the animation, definitely worth checking out - so maybe switch to watch season 2 on Hulu (or whatever other site has the Bluray versions) anyway.. can't wait for ya'll to get to the movie and season 2's famous arc 🤩

the fights in seson 1 feel a bit more inconsequential compared to what follows :/ I wish they put a bit more realism into the blows or show their impact in a different way

Meg Thee Stallion got the dub voice of Yuji to open her song “Otaku Hot Girl” with the “I like a tall woman with a nice big ass” lol lots of JJK references in that song if you wanna give it a listen, probably more Oak’s taste tho. But yes this arc sets up a lot for the rest of the series, especially with understanding aspects of the world. Please watch JJK 0 movie after you finish the season before moving to season 2, it’s necessary. Excited for next week and seeing Non-standard action 😉

Episode 17 is one of my favorites of season 1, I think JJK shines the brightest in these types of episodes, the ones that are rich with emotion. I think I haven't really commented on any of the JJK posts except the first one, but I need to talk about episode 17. Maki and Mai are one of my favorite relationships in the show, and usually their fight overshadows Momo and Nobara's, a lot of people tend to misunderstand Momo too. They think Momo is like the Jujutsu Sorcerers that think women need to be this or that. Momo has seen Mai suffer, and she understands how Jujutsu Society works and is informing Nobara of that, she doesn't know how to break out of it. Nobara who has grown as a regular person, she doesn't understand, she's seeen little of Maki. Nobara doesn't understand the pressure because she chooses to ignore it and be her unique-self, her set of pressures are different. Mai and Momo do not feel they have that option. Then Maki and Mai... I'm super close to my older brothers, but there was a point in my life where I wasn't and I resented them deeply, I wouldn't say my childhood was particularly hard, I think my set of trauma is pretty common unforetunately, but my brothers had the luxury of knowing a version of my dad I didn't, and when it got bad, my brothers were old enough to leave the house, them being 6 and 8 years older than me. That made me resent them, kind of like how Mai said "why did you leave? why couldn't you just stay in the bottom with me?" I related a lot to Mai then. I've grown, I've had 10-15 years to heal from that now, and I truly love my brothers and we are each other's ride or die now. Nothing could separate us, and I'm glad I have such a relationship with them now that we leave 5 minutes apart from each other. I think that's why Maki and Mai relationship hits specifically hard for me. Maki is one of my favorite characters, 3 of my other faves I can't mention yet, but my no. 1 fave character I can mention: Sukuna. I can't wait for you guys to see more of him! I'm so excited for you guys to watch the movie JJK:0 and then s2 and s3. JJK is amazing, it's not just hype, this from someone who started the manga in 2018.

About the change in animation, that's pretty common, it's because of budgeting, they save up the most budget for especial fights or episodes. However with JJK y'all see that the animation just starts getting better and better starting by JJK:0. By the point we get to s3 it's just art. Their budget is huge.

1x17 was the episode that made my favorite character be Nobara. Her speech about loving herself regardless of the circumstances was so beautiful and powerful to hear as another woman.

Overall season 1 is incredibly weak compared to the rest and that is kind of why I am hoping that they don't get overwhelmed by Season 1 :D

I didn’t expect you to like him so much, but it makes sense though! This arc is the weakest one in my opinion as well, but it’s lowkey a break we didn’t know we needed at the time before the plot became really dark and serious!

i love that we are getting mini backstories too bc it’s very much needed to to really care about the characters going forward. 👍🏻 Mai x Maki’s relationship is sad bc they should be on the same side but they have different abilities and dreams of what they want to do. the Zen’in clan (which Fushiguro is a part of - so he is related to them) really only cares about the men in their family. so, Maki wanting to go to Jujutsu High and come back stronger and prove herself is such a great highlight to her character.
