I'm Batman

There are a couple of issues I have with this movie as a direct adaptation but overall I enjoyed this movie, can't wait to see what y'all think of it.

starstrucker

I honestly really enjoyed watching this in the theaters, interested to see what the guys think!

ThetaSigmaTheOriginal

This got some pretty negative views, but I found it enjoyable. I took my 14 year old niece to watch it last month and she liked it a lot.

Bryan

glad y’all enjoyed this in some shape of form fella’s, some flaws yes but the internet over trashed this film.. i have my nitpicks but overall still liked the film, best stuff was definitely all the krypton flashbacks

Bryan

💯💯

Well... this one snuck up on me 😂 Didn't have this on my radar today! I'll definitely be watching this one with you guys later. Another first-time watch ... can't wait!

This movie really disappointed me as someone who adores the comic. I didn't want a 1:1 adaptation, but they tried to take that story and turn it into this big summer blockbuster which just doesn't work for this story in my opinion. SPOILERS, but the stakes involving Krypto never felt real because, aside from a few moments, it never really felt like Kara was all that concerned with trying to find the cure in a timely manner. In the comic it works because its revealed that Krypto was actually not in danger and Kara only went on the journey to teach Ruthye and protect her, but when Krypto is actually in danger it not only cheapens the stakes when Kara is so unphased by it, but it also lessens the message of Kara doing something selfless just for the sake of protecting the innocence of this young girl. The movie had some cool moments, but it was overall a big step down for me after loving Superman so much.

Kickinthescience

Lobo was much better in the 90s Superman animated series

DilliePickle

This movie need a lot more color

lol

Has its flaws for sure, but by no means was it bad. Some people still have it out for Gun. And they'll never like any DC movie with his name on it.

First time watch, my only major gripe is movie felt very empty and quiet. Normally where you'd expect some sort of background score there really wasn't any. I wish we also had more of an emphasis on the actual score rather than constant pop/inside rock music. Other than that I did enjoy the movie but can see why it had negative reviews 🫡

Mintteacup

I'm the biggest supporter of this universe, whether the media sucks or not I'll be there. There's so much of this movie I wish I was different and better but overall it was just alright I guess. Can't wait to see more of these characters, especially Lobo. He features heavily in the Man of Tomorrow animated movie so hopefully he shows up in Gunns movie

I'm Batman

Okay first the negatives. 1, I wasn't a fan of the coloring of this movie, it was overall just so dull compared to the coloring in the WoT comic. Maybe it was to cut down on the budgeting or something, I have no idea though. 2, I wasn't a fan of the soundtrack within this movie, think it would've been more impactful if they used scores instead, like when Kara is sent from Argo City, that score was absolutely beautiful and almost made me cry. And my biggest problem with this movie is pretty much everything involving Krem and his crew, why they decided to make them sex traffickers, his design choice, and giving him powers. None of that was needed. And why they would have her kill Krem but not do the same for his crew is questionable to me. They all kidnapped these girls for breeding purposes so if you're gonna kill him you should do the same for the rest of them. But that goes back to making them sex traffickers to begin with, if they had been portrayed as they was in the comic then her fighting them the way she did in this movie would've been fine. Those are my biggest issues with this film, now onto the positives. Milly had a great performance, and she portrayed really well the trauma she feels due to her being older when she had to be sent away. All the flashback stuff with her really connected with me. The action scenes was great, and Jason's performance was spot on, he was definitely born to play Lobo. Could've been better but it could've been worse, I still enjoyed it overall and I give this movie a 3.75/5.

Krypto (at least in Superman and probably this one too) is James Gunn’s dog. But he is digitally colored white— that may be what’s making him look not real.

Isolde

Frrrr….🤨

I'm Batman

Krypto is fully a CGI dog, his design is inspired by James' dog but that's it.

Paige

Oooooo I see. Sorry I misunderstood, thanks for clarifying!

When I heard people complaining about the music I thought they were overreacting because of how good Supermans music was but it was actually just a terrible soundtrack

Mintteacup

Personally I'm not a fan of heroes being expected and needing to kill their enemies by fans. I'm fine when they do it sometimes but if they don't I 100% understand it. My only problem is when they freely kill the goons but not the main villain, that's the worst xD

I'm Batman

Oh yeah I completely forgot to mention this since one of y'all commented on what would be the next movie within the DCU either towards the end of this movie or within the review section. The next movie is Clayface, it's a Batman villain and the genre is gonna be a thriller/body horror movie. It's undoubtedly my most anticipated movie of this year since it'll be our first look at what Gotham City looks like in the DCU and horror is my 2nd favorite genre. Plus Mike Flanagan is the one who wrote the script, that's just a pure bonus in my eyes.

Our Baby Rhaenyra 😭👏🏽

Michael Aldana

True lol did he not realize till now that the dog was cgi. Was the cgi that good in Superman unc believed it was a real dog 😂

hex1c

Like Dyatlov said in the Chernobyl show. Not great, not terrible.

Fajar Kurniawan

just like any other superhero movies, I watched it for the visual and fight scene (good plot is just a bonus) I am easy to pleased, I even enjoy Venom and Morbius and Kraven

David Eubanks

I think he meant the dog started to look like shit

**Sees Leather Mask** "What's This Guy Into?"" haha Quinn 😈 it kinda reminded me of the mask they forced Karrion Kross to wear for a while hehe. (wrestling who don't know) Was cute seeing Krypto again, also where he bit the Alien made me think of 'Mr Nobody' when he'd shout "Nuts!" & speaking of those films, I like how we got a story mission with a John Wick-Esque to it, when will Villains learn that you don't mess with someone's dog!! cause it'll be VERY bad news for you!! liked how Kara got them 'Homelander' eye powers hehe & Lobo kinda looked like a mix of Kiss/Lordi Music Band Lead Singers (in a cool way) & agree shame we didn't get more of him in the movie, liked his "Bastich" line haha. Liked the backstory on Kara & the friendship bond that developed with Ruthye & that was a kickass ending. (Also didn't expect Quinn to get his spray bottle out for a whole different reason this time hehe) 😄

Diablos Cafe

I don’t think a movie does this bad because everyone is out for James Gunn

Kalkent

This dissapointed me beyond measure. So I'm not going to rewatch it with you guys, only because I'm not in the mood of getting pissed - again. 1.5 Answers

The music choices were...uh, interesting for this movie, not necessarily a fan of those. But I actually did end up really liking the movie. I feel like I enjoyed Superman more on a first watch and I enjoyed this movie more with rewatches than with my first watch. I thought Milly Alcock and Jason Momoa were great in their roles, not many people mention it but I also thought Eve Ridley did great as Ruthye, especially considering this is one of her first big roles and first movie role.

tom

tonally just all over the place. her obsession with blondie and retro cyberpunk aesthetic is fun, but it's never addressed and informs so much of the movie and makes it feel like a guardians knockoff. some parts of this movie are quite dark but it doesn't hit a balance. it just feels disjointed to watch. some decent sequences and milly alcock is actually really good. hopefully the bad performance doesn't derail her career

Lou_Lou

Beyond disappointing. I watched this for the first time through your reaction video. I knew I didn’t really want to see it but I figured why not how bad could it be? I didn’t even bother to finish it to the end. The storyline wasn’t that compelling. Kara being a drunk really wasn’t doing it for me. I know someone else said they followed the comics, but even the Supergirl tv series had more heart. Not to mention a much more likable character. You felt the depth of her leaving her planet. Her family sent her to watch over Superman. She cared deeply about doing the right thing. I just think the creators were trying to hard to make this new Supergirl edgy. You guys even mentioned her hanging with Jessica Jones, but I think they were working too hard to make her practically into JJ.

Sanji Sama

Definitely a bit of a meh movie, and I cannot remember any of the names but I was certain that the girl was bullshitting about what the alien doctor was saying about the dog to get Supergirl to help kill the BBEG, and during the cave when the girl said "Don't freak out" I thought she was about to reveal that the dog just needed a few days to recover but would actually be fine, then possibly the dog would show up to save Supergirl.

Bloop

I think it's cos people associate DC with dark and serious tones but Gunn's movie are the complete opposite. I like the movies but I do think DC should be more like Batman and the penguin
