Since you’re probably gonna react to the Odyssey (once it’s available on platforms) I wanted to petition for you guys to react to Troy (2004) first, personally I like it more than the Odyssey, but I’m saying it because they are technically connected (one is a continuation of the other) so I think it’s a good idea so that you can have the story clear and in chronological in your heads. Troy is not super canonical with the original story but I really want to see your reaction to it. Btw, if you do react to it make sure it's the director's cut.

I really loved this episode - it really felt like a return to optimum Ted Lasso. I can't wait to see the guys reaction!

So just an FYI for y'all: the actress who plays Dani's sister is the actor's (Cristo Fernandez) actual, real-life sister. EDIT: also I’m surprised you didn’t recognize the Waif from GOT, since y’all are in that season right now (she plays the single mom center back). She’s also in the show Andor, which might very well be the best thing in the entire Star Wars universe. Incredible show.

Kaley

She also plays one of the police in the show Adolescence

I really loved this episode! Roy sending Phoebe and her friends to help Keeley was so, so sweet!

Jo

I'd be lying if I said I didn't rewatch the Susan Boyle audition and tear up a little after watching this episode hahah

This season has been so good only being 3 episodes in they are doing a great job balancing things we love about the Season 1-3 while also bringing something to the table I will say Im still waiting to learn more about the players because we don’t know much about them outside of what little facts Alice gave us in episode 2 still early in the season though so not tripping about it too much but I would really like to see some focus on the players in the coming episodes cause right now cant say I have much emotional connection with any of them

ZuZu

Here to second this excellent suggestion! Though honestly I prefer the theatrical cut as that's the one most people will have access to for watch-along format.

ZuZu

I did the same thing!

The woman who went to the tryouts with her kid, is the police officer from the Adolescence miniseries that you guys reacted to. I saw her face and couldn't think of where I recognized her from, at first. But then it clicked.

tendo

love the mom bringing her kid to tryouts. my mom would take me to her college campus all the time when she had class. i’d usually hang out in the hallways or the library and get snacks from the vending machines lol. hits home for sure

Okay, so there were so many musical theater easter eggs in this episode that are amazing. (I'm a theater teacher so didn't expect you guys to catch them. ) tThe music as the women lined up for tryouts is from the audition dance segment from "A Chorus Line" and the actual physical tryouts montage is back scored by a piece of music from "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers." Ted and Beard specifically reference "Stripes" during tryouts. But the most hilarious and incredible one is, aside from the repeated references to Susan Boyle's BGT audition, is the fact that during the closing credits they play Susan Boyles version of "I Dreamed A Dream" from "Les Miserables" which is actually what she sang for her audition. This show never fails to include every random pun and allusion they can make happen. Wonderful! It reminded me of the RomCom episode of Ted Lasso.

I would like to see you guys react to Shameless.

I love the scene where Rebecca's says to the CEO of the company that's pulling its sponsorship from the women's team, that they're creating this women's team, not only so that girls can see strong women doing incredible things, but also so that boys, like the CEO's grandson can grow up not knowing anything different. The other day, I was with my son and daughter-in-law, (who is a chess player and was teaching my granddaughter at the time) and I was asking if they'd seen The Queen's Gambit, explaining that it was about an girl orphan prodigy that grew up to challenge the professional chess circuit as one of the first women to play competitive chess. My son, 38 years of age said, "I'm sorry Mom, I don't get it. Are you saying that there was really a time when women couldn't even compete in chess.?" My daughter-in-law looked at me and rolled her eyes, and he admitted, "its just so hard for me to believe that those times existed," and my daughter-in-law reminded him that has been barely over a hundred years since women gained the right to vote. That scene REALLY made me think of that conversation, and the fact that at least we've come so far that men who live now really don't know any different about some of these things, and find them hard to believe. But.....this is why history is important., and we have to fight against the new "history cancel culture" that is happening in public eduction these days. We need to NEVER FORGET about the way we as a nation denied equal rights to anyone who was not a white male for so many years.

THAT’S where I recognized her from — Adolescence! I kept saying I knew her from something she played a cop-type character in, but couldn’t put my finger on it. Didn’t realize that she also played in GOT — she was really young so didn’t recognize her.

Thin the first 3 episodes of S4 are much stronger than the first 3 of S3. Hopefully that will continue.

Childless Bambino

This episode is one of the best out of all 4 seasons! Seems much more coherent than S3!

In response to your question, Canary Wharf is about an hour or so from Richmond, but if Traffic is bad, it's alot longer, plus the buildings are very tall & impressively looking, so maybe lots of floors to go up is possibly what Rebecca meant with her comment there. They did a good mixture of comedy & heartfelt moments in this Eps, Ted smacking into/getting thrown out the door for Rebecca's 'Furious Jumping' 😈 Have you noticed it's ONLY Keeley who gets to see that softer side of Roy & no one else?. Lizzie/Gemma look interesting people to have on the team, it'll be cool to see more of their backstory in future & my favourite part of this Eps was your reactions to THAT comment by the waiter at the end, I couldn't help having a cheeky chuckle over that. 🤭

Shannon is the woman that used to play football in the park nearby Ted’s flat, he would see her sometimes!

Not just that, but that they chose to play I Dreamed a Dream right after they referred to Rebecca as a prostitute. A double meaning to playing that particular track, the sheer brilliance of the Lasso Crew cannot be matched.

Eboe Thrasher

I left a reply for someone below but the song over the end credits sung by Boyle is "I Dreamed a Dream" from Les Mis, but in particular it is a song sung by Fantine to lament her past and her current situation... as a prostitute. So, as usual, the Ted Lasso crew are firing on all 12 cylinders when they use one song to tie together an earlier continuing reference from the show with a joke that was just made in the show, about Rebecca and her line of work. BRILLIANT.

Jeff K.

I enjoy the fact that Hannah was in the movie version of Les Mis, as well, as one of the women working in the factory with Fantine.

Lou_Lou

Thank You!! I thought I recognized her, but could not place her face!!!

Kaley

Anyone else catch the nod to “A Chorus Line” when everyone was in line for tryouts? Almost like a casting call or audition? I love all the musical theater references!

Kaley

I LOVE all of the musical theater references they throw in. It shows the writers and cast all are huge musical theater nerds and I’m love that!
