Mob Sorcery Delay (Patreon)
Content
So, based on reactions to the last two chapters I'm delaying updates to Mob Sorcery 3 for 4-6 days (maybe a full week). I expect to push the book back until the end of November or start of December, too. Having to do a bunch of edits because everyone's gotten confused and people appear to dislike Anzu has caused me to lose momentum in the home stretch and I've lost a lot of my motivation, tbh. People will probably get upset about this update, as I'm not supposed to be negative, but it's been a tiring week.
It's pretty clear that nobody has any idea what's going on. I figured the plot was reasonably straightforward and threw in some extra details to try to throw people off, but instead everyone has just latched onto the red herrings and assumed anything that doesn't gel with those is bad writing (e.g. the cartel attack is bad writing even though the characters literally tell you why it happened, or the Houou characters are morons). It's especially tiring given the leeway given to other books in the genre.
I wanted to avoid making a bunch of sweeping changes to Mob 3, because I know it will make people mad and they'll quit Patreon, but I basically have to dumb down all mystery elements. Anzu's chapter will also get a rewrite because the reactions were just all over the place, and part of that is moderating her character.
The fact that I can't have aggressive harem members (including prospective ones) without causing issues has become tiring. I find it boring writing the generic archetypes that are so popular elsewhere, but I'm just tired. This was supposed to be an easy book and has instead triggered the same feelings of burnout I was trying to leave behind after Spellblade.
Unfortunately, not a happy post. I'm tired and feel like I've spent a week trying to work out if I need to throw half the book out.
