"...the Aryans of South America..." A significant portion of the Argentine population is going to be pissed when they hear this.

@goatofwisdom

For those non-apple / non-iTunes folks, is there an Android podcast app that gives you a good data, etc?

So much to comment on this one... First. None of you pronounced anything correctly. Though Noah came close to doing so sometimes. Don't feel "sad" though. Unless you're born and raised hearing portuguese, you'll always screw pronouncing it. Second. The Wikipedia article is lacking when it comes to the stupidity of those involved in this accident. Follow some highlights of the incident that weren't publicized: A.) The first person to puncture the capsule, managed to do so by hammering the screwdriver. Yes... it was hard to do it with only the screwdriver. So he used a damn hammer to get the job done. B.) A couple spread the substance on their bodies, so that they could have intercourse while glowing in the dark. C.) A man consumed the substance as seasoning for several days. He survived, but his radiation level was quite impressive. So impressive indeed, that his urine was radioactive. Best of all, he used to consume a lot of alcohol, and had a habit of peeing in public places, like trees and walls. Needless to say, various sections of walls and trees, on the route he usually took from his preferred bar to his home, had to be disposed off due to contamination. If I remember any other good one I'll post it here.

I'm pretty happy with BeyondPod. It follows the Patron RSS feed just fine.

@goatofwisdom

I'll check it out. I like player.fm but it doesn't allow private feeds so only good for the chumps I don't give money to. I saw Eli tell someone on twitter recently that stitcher was no good for them because it only ever shows as one download.

Both Argentina and Brazil sport large german communities/descendants. They had a fuzzy relation with the Axis forces (Argentina being more openly pro-Germany though. And Brazil "unexpectedly" sent a token number of soldiers to fight on the Allies' side). Also, both countries were kinda' of a hotspot for high ranked nazi "retiring" (escaping) after the war.

I'm confused by Noah's shot at Canadians. Like, I'm not even offended, just... I don't even know what it meant.

The song Eli was humming after Jurassic park was the menu theme from Star Wars Rogue Squadron games.

I use this accident in my Radiation Worker training as an aid in the discussion of how fast things can go very wrong when dealing with Cesium and other Rad Material when contamination is possible.

Carlos Marchi

I had to study it during "NBQR warfare training" in the navy. Also when training for "patient care and transportation after NBQ attack". Curiosity: Even though the accident happened in Goiânia, GO, the patients who needed greater care were treated in Rio de Janeiro, RJ. Treatment was done by the navy.

Best episode ever.

Emma Crawford

I listened to this episode while I was driving to do pick-ups for work (getting supplies), and laughed so hard that people in other cars stared! I loved it! <3

I have listened to this episode several times now and it's so funny I just don't know how they'll ever top this. 😂

Four years later, I'm still loving the show and still going back and replaying classics like this one. Easily my favorite podcast, period.
