This remains one of my favorite episodes of all time. I have no idea why anyone would find this boring!

The Recovering Gringo

Perhaps Noah is old enough to remember new coke; and maybe cecil, but to me I remember taking said taste tests and as a man from Illinois where we call all soda's Coke (I know the Chicago-its call it pop, and the southern illini call it soda, but there is portion of central Illinois that call all of it Coke. I don't now how bit that is, but it is at least as big as the county I grew up in (Effingham).

Donovan "Ravenhull"

Ah, New Coke. I remember when, a few weeks in, there was discovered a shipment of pre-change Coke, which sold at a premium. And yes, my family bought one of the bottles.

The Gray Hunter

In blind taste tests, no one could actually tell the difference between Coke, Pepsi, and RC. Now of course about a billion people will defend to the death their ability to tell the difference. Aaaaaand... go!

Wesley Aaron

Yeah actually they could tell a difference otherwise how did Pepsi perform better in blind taste tests? If they were the same the results would be less definite. You can actually do this yourself with ten people, it's a common school activity for some classes.

Steve Siegmund

I took a marketing class in college where the professor absolutely insisted the New Coke debacle was actually done completely on purpose and was the most brilliant marketing move of all time. We had to do a paper on it. I called Shenanigans then and still do.

It’s Never Aliens

I still like Pepsi better. Also, I can totally tell the difference in a blind taste test. We did one in my marketing class, and it is really easy to tell which is coke and which is Pepsi. If you really want to talk drinking pure sugar, go after Mountain Dew.

Steven Walker

Does anyone remember when they tried to bring New Coke back in the 90s and called it Coke II? Shameful confession: I actually liked New Coke. Not as a replacement, obviously, but if they had kept it as an alternate formula, I'd still buy it now and then. Shame on all the hosts who were not riveted by this topic... If you want to explore the rich well of human folly, you often need look no further than the marketing department.
