Samuel Langhorne Clemens (November 30, 1835 – April 21, 1910), known by the pen name Mark Twain, was an American writer, humorist, and essayist. He was praised as the "greatest humorist the United States has produced",[1] with William Faulkner calling him "the father of American literature".[2] Twain's novels include The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (1876) and its sequel, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (1884),[3] with the latter often called the "Great American Novel". He also wrote A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court (1889) and Pudd'nhead Wilson (1894) and cowrote The Gilded Age: A Tale of Today (1873) with Charles Dudley Warner. The novelist Ernest Hemingway claimed that "All modern American literature comes from one book by Mark Twain called Huckleberry Finn."

When I lived in Italy we read the first volume of a ginormous biography of Mark Twain. I wonder if Noah read that same book and if he read both volumes

Kitsunelaine

anyway if you want to see Mark Twain as a character in an anime for a very brief period towards the end, check out "Dagger of Kamui"

What’s the thing all Jeep owners can relate to comment about? Has Jeep suddenly become obsolete because of a better product? I’m asking as former Jeep owner who knows they’ve always been trash

Come to Reno - Virginia City is just down the road and it's still in the 1800's. We also have whiskey and pinball and can teach you how to properly pronounce Nevada.

Langdon Plaza, where her home once was, is about 10 blocks from my house (there is an OK pizza place and a scamy business school there). And the Gazebo he wrote a bunch novels at, I walked by that every day for a decade on my way to work. Coolest Twain story though is I got to drink a bunch of beers on his porch, right outside the library of his former home. But I'll always be sad I wasn't able to smoke a cigar there. Side note: seeing Oliva's real-life dress size is terrifying.

For anyone who wants a hero who so happens to be a 19th century writer and renowned orator who fought against religion (who was also progressive and fought for the Union unlike Twain), I would recommend looking into Col. Robert G. Ingersoll. His writings are genuinely excellent, and all sources say his oration was even better. You can read everything he wrote (that we have) in The Works of Robert G. Ingersoll (vol 1 - 12) on Project Gutenberg for free. I have done research on him, all writings of the time mention how genuinely kind and wonderful it was to talk to him. Frederick Douglas especially mentioned how great of a guy Ingersoll apparently was. Also, in 1876, he was chosen to deliver a speech nominating James Blaine for the Republican Party, where he put the work off until writing it at 3 AM the night before and memorizing it. Blaine wasn’t chosen but apparently the speech was lauded by the party. Type of work ethic I be running with.
