I feel a little uncomfortable every time someone calls the guy "Un" because Jong-un, 正恩, is one name that can't be separated into two parts. Nevertheless it's a convenient trick to tell apart members of a family with very similar names. You know, un, nam, il etc.

You're absolutely correct, but why write Jong-un in hanja (Chinese characters) rather than Hangul? My experience in the two Koreas is that while hanja is still sometimes used for formal or decorative purposes in South Korea, it's *never* used in the North.

You're right, I would've liked to use and probably shoud've used Hangul for his name, but I don't know any Hangul at all. I'm a Japanese. I thought our kanji would be a useful tool to show that the name is one word, not a hyphenated compound name like Mary-Anne or Jean-Luc. :)
