Daggerheart, Four Months On (Patreon)
Content
Daggerheart released four months ago today, selling out instantly and then going on to sell out some several additional print runs. Producing resource videos for the game has been transformational for me as I see the Daggerheart-compatible creator ecosystem continuing to grow.
The tone and volume of the response to the game has been overwhelming (positive), and especially heartening when it's otherwise been a very bad year (various reasons). Most of the folks that are here as patrons have joined since the game's release, excited about the game, my Daggerheart-compatible creations, and my writing/videos about the game.
Right now, something like 80% of my income as a creator is Daggerheart-related, between this Patreon, YouTube and Twitch revenue, and my activity on StartPlaying.Games running Daggerheart campaigns and presenting Daggerheart GM seminars.
I'm incredibly grateful to have the support and enthusiasm for my perspective on and ideas about and using the game, especially during a time when marginalized creators (immigrants, people of color, and LGBTQIA+ folks) are being demonized and targeted by the US federal government. I'm not the kind of trans person that is most directly targeted by this campaign, but with conservative groups pressuring payment processors to cut off retailers that sell queer work, there is still a real threat to my ability to do business on the internet (which these days, is basically equal to "ability to do business at all").
I just started a big freelancing project (I can't tell you what it is just yet), which will serve as a good baseline of work, leaving me with a bit of lattitude and time to finish the Bastion of Hope campaign frame and then hopefully move on to publishing my first book of environments, the Witherwild adventure I've been writing, and more.
So thank you again to everyone supporting me here with your subscriptions and/or your attention, thank you to folks watching on Twitch and YouTube, and thanks to folks supporting me on StartPlaying through campaigns and/or seminars. As the Darrington Press staff said at GenCon in their big presentation (but this time referring to the broader Daggerheart communities as the We):
We're Just Getting Started. :)
