Thanks I will be live for Search for spock

Thank your for posting! I caught the first 45 minutes live but had to leave due to technical difficulties. For anyone on the fence I highly recommend watching this! If you're here on Patreon you already appreciate @bunnytails insight and commentary, and there is a new and powerful vibe rewatching and commenting on it in the context of already knowing the overall plot.

Very glad you stuck with Star Trek after the first watch. Oddly, your and my journeys were similar, just 40+ years separated. I was 12 when this came out and, while growing up, I knew the characters from my parents watching Trek, seeing this in the theater was my first real watch of Star Trek. It was an amazing experience (the crowd cheers at "Prepare to receive our transmission" and "I don't like to lose" were incredible) and sold me both on Trek and shared experience watching movies with a crowd. Glad you kept with it and going forward, try not to worry about the comment section and just love Trek as you want to love Trek. Thanks as always for sharing your time and emotion with us!

She’s the best for sure

We've talked a bit about the Kirk/Spock bromance and that very Star Trek brand of humour they have, the very sly, sotto voce, smirky, I know what the other guy is thinking moments between the two of them. Obvs the writers were smart enough to load us up with a whole bunch of those during this one so that Spock's death hits that much harder when it comes. And good grief does it work, I'll tell ya what😥 During the 80s, 90s, and early 00s Pocket Books put out a slew of Star Trek novels by independent authors, some with ties to the shows. One by a fella named JM Dillard is called The Lost Years and tells the story of the intervening years between TMP and WoK. How cannon we consider them to be is of course up to each of us but most of them are quite good and do a good job of taking ideas set down in the show and expanding on them, including the one I mentioned above. You'd have to go looking in places like eBay or your local second hand store but if you ever have the chance I'd consider looking into them. Depending on how much time and effort you care to put into care to put into it of course, B. I could go on about your reaction or and how enjoyable it was seeing you with the added context, and about the movie itself of course, but I've taken up enough space already so I'll just say see you in TSfS🖖

Hey there, you are doing everything right, we had to wait two years b4 they released the 3rd movie, and it was 2 years of debating, was he really dead, fun facts the nebula scene was created using colored paint dyes mixed with salt and fresh water in a large fish tank, the Genesis intro was the 1st cgi in a movie, take care

THIS is Ceti Alpha V !!!!!

Don’t worry Bunny, I always get a little emotional when I watch this movie, so don’t feel alone 😊😊

Carlos Stevens

Bunny, this movie of all the star trek movies, invokes the biggest depth of emotion from me... mainly because of my father. He loved Star Trek, and this was the movie he should have seen, but did not get to see.

Carlos Stevens

I did notice... now that Bunny has a child... how the ending scenes hit harder than it did when she first watched it. Does Bunny know that her Star Trek journey is just beginning???

Carlos Stevens

Regarding the glasses, Bunny, you are correct to hyperfocus on the glasses, but... to quote Futurama... "PEOPLE OF EARTH... shhhhh."

Carlos Stevens

For the record, I do have a favorite Star Trek Series... but... I'm just going to clamp my mouth shut about it right now.

Matthew Evangelista

"Sir! Our shields are dropping!" "Raise them!" "I CAN'T!!" That part always makes me chuckle because of the overacting lol. Still, this movie is my favorite of the 6 movies. I never get tired of seeing it. Search for Spock is going to be fun to watch too.

The writer had a theory about Khan knowing Chekov. Even though he wasn't an important enough officer at that point to be on the show, he was likely on the ship and perhaps ended up making Khan have to wait to use the bathroom or something. And Khan remembers him distinctly so... think about that from Chekov's perspective.

I had to skip to Wrath of Khan. I was waiting for this forever. Nae danger, I'm going back to STC before moving forward. I saw Wrath of Khan 7 or 8 times in the theater, and the Ceti eels never really get less gross!

Bunnytails has traveled a road most Trekkies haven't. She also has a steel-trap brain. I have to say her retention of knowledge is staggering. I have no excuse, I've watched these episodes since I was 5. I'm so glad to have found Bunnytails to watch TOS and TAS with different eyes. Bunny, don

Great 2nd reaction - We had the show the movies but we’ve been waiting all these years for you Bunny to breathe whole new life into them 👏 super job! I love when Kirk mocks Khan “I’m laughing at the superior intellect” and when he says “OLD. FRIEND!” Bunny: “I’ve waited two years to see what happens next I don’t think you can understand what that’s like” - Like Harrison Ford said in “Age of Adeline” (great movie) Oh I think we can. lol can’t wait for Search for spock Sat night!

James

Love when Chekov sees Botany Bay and goes “Oh No!”

Thanks bunny for a great time watching Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan, like bunny I'm watching it again, but I enjoyed it immensely. Everyone looks great, Shatner gives a nuanced performance with his usual flare. He's a good actor. His scene in the turbo lift with Saavik is a heart stopper, she is awesome giving a similar vibe to bunny in a gorgeous unique fatigue uniform. It's strange that Kirk taunts Khan into engaging him in the nebula when he might have called for backup. If the genesis was that dangerous then it's understandable but that begs the question of why they had it in an undefended location with minimal communication security. My take on the whole Star Trek universe is one can enjoy it regardless but when the characters are interesting there is no better entertainment.

It was so good you watched space seed before your first viewing of wrath of Khan then went back and watched it all, i would have to watch both reactions back to back to see any wider differences, but you were so right to watch space seed first, while some appreciate wrath of Khan without it, it is better to at least know space seed

I'm so glad you clarified it was the directors cut. I put on the breaks and looked like hell and could not find it 😂 but I eventually found it on Fandango and rented it. I've actually never seen this version so it will a first for me for once. I'll update this comment after the reaction.

Late to the party (Still catching up on your full reviews) but a fun fact for me is the while Chekov wasn't in Space Seed, Mr. Kyle *was*. He is the Reliant Communications officer here, but in Space Seed he was the transporter chief... Khan even knocks him out with a double neck pinch. I guess it wouldn't have been as impactful coming from a character who was only in like 11 episodes of TOS. He was also in 7 episodes of TAS... voiced by James Doohan.
