Star Trek: The Next Generation 1x1 - Full Watchalong

Comments

Bret Kay

Enjoyed watching this with you during the movie night. I'm excited to watch through TNG again and see your reactions. It's going to be a fun journey!

Lost Monk

Trust me, TNG gets much better by Season 3. 😎

Preaching to the Horse's Mouth

Let's fuckin' go! I've been training for this my whole life, or at least since I watched your original WoK reaction lol. Jokes aside, I'm friggin' hyped!

William Terry

RIP April's dad. I loved the next generation when it premiered and so I will try to avoid spoilers, beyond what I may have commented in bunnytails' TOS. The new captain is great, though a little old for a field command, the Enterprise is okay, the best of the non-TOS design, sort of like two saucers instead of one saucer section. I hope bunny enjoys TNG as much as I did! She does a fantastic job in the opening saga!

뱀파이안젤

Man this brings me back! I always wanted to be Data as a kid 🤓

Summer

So exciting! I saw most of TNG as a kid and also rediscovered it as an adult and the rest of Trek, it is great how you and others embrace watching fully

reply

You're finally reacting to TNG and I'm all here for it! Sign me up! Beam me up! To the Bunny Quadrant's patron planet 🖖

Lost Monk

Every character you see in this series develops significantly. They evolve to not being weenies. And if you don't think they're weenies, come back once you get through about 40 or 60 episodes. You'll look at this and groan. They get out of it slowly, but it is an evolution.... that significantly changes by Season 3. Am I right, people? No spoilers in your answers...if anyone answers.

Joshua Langweil

Glad the journey has begun...it starts a bit slow. has some growing pains, but you will love this series. It has some of the best episodes of television ever.

Soma

Matthew Graves (Graviton)

The live watch along was a blast Bunny! There is no doubt in my mind that you will come to love these characters as much as Kirk and company.

Summer

As a kid Geordi and Data were my favorites, as an adult more and more Dr. Crusher is. Loved your insights. So hard not to give spoilers but I love fresh reactions

Super Sunny Sunblade

Wth, the my little pony John de Lancie character even teleported in his iconic "Q flash" hehe! How intentional!

John DiGiantomasso

In early TOS you can see the writers trying to figure out the characters. It took a couple seasons to get it right. But the big difference is after two seasons of figuring it out, TOS had only one more (underfunded) season to go. In TNG you get a total of SEVEN seasons. And then DS9 for seven more! Interesting for me in this was Colm Meaney, credited here as "Battle Bridge Conn." To see where the character goes from this throwaway unnamed character, the actor must have REALLY impressed the producers!

Matt B

So ready for this next part of your journey! It's wild to think but we're both late-'80s babies when this show was first coming out and it was a show my late father would also watch that I'd peek on with him. April I'd love to buy ya the Remastered Blu-Ray release of TNG for an early Christmas present. :)

Carlos Stevens

The original Enterprise also had a "Skylight"/"Spacelight"... They didn't do much with it other than the first pilot episode (The Cage).

Carlos Stevens

Dr. McCoy only lived so long just to get on Spock's nerves.

Carlos Stevens

@bunny, may I recommend you add "Genisis 2" to your list of movies? It was a made for TV movie that came out in the early '70s made by Gene Roddenberry. I found that there was a lot of synergy with the first Star Trek TNG and that movie. Very very Gene Roddenberry.

Carlos Stevens

BTW @Bunny, How do you like the new communicators??? Just a bit curious.

Carlos Stevens

Oooo, and while were at it, maybe some of Patrick Steward's old movies... "Excalibur," "Dune," "X-Men."

Carlos Stevens

Yes... The resurrection of "Number One." This came out when CGI was very very new. I remember seeing it on TV, years without Star Trek Series... it was just amazing on so many levels. (I REFUSE to watch my little pony... I know McCraken and Tartakovsky made it... I got sucked into The Power Puff Girls, and I will not allow them to do that to me again!)

Grey Invader

The show starts off a bit...awkward. The characters are a bit clunky at first. Picard in particular seemed like a cold fish in hindsight. It's going to be fun watching you see the development of this great series, Bunny!

bunnytails

I am excited to see and decide for myself :)

bunnytails

I have a feeling I will enjoy TNG very much!

bunnytails

It's very sleek looking! I am getting more used to it.

bunnytails

I was actually about to purchase TNG on Apple TV, since Paramount+ is being screwy. I'm looking to possibly cancel my subscription there.

bunnytails

I am amazed at how they could think of so many plotlines for SEVEN seasons. Never mind all the series that came after!

bunnytails

I don't see many spoilers here on Patreon. But the YouTube comments are FULL of them.

bunnytails

I think it's a lot easier than carrying around another object!

Matt B

I've never tried Apple TV, but I've definitely heard negative things about Paramount+ and due in part to that, mainly been sticking with physical releases. I hope Apple TV works out better but if you're interested in a brand new Blu-Ray copy, send a DM my way. :)

Silverstrike

Yeah the first and second season is them stumbling to get their feet. And it solidified at imo at middle of season 2. I think you will really enjoy tng.

Summer

Enough of the first season is important enough to make it through the rough stuff

Desmond

I'm a purist for physical media, and I strongly recommend those blurays. It was a real labor of love, getting the show remastered for HD and packed with many great special features.

Desmond

I'm glad no one spoiled that for you.

Mark Gosine

Wow. I don't remember everyone being so young and thin..... %) Engage -ing!

phillip giroux

Every time I watch this i can't help thinking all the weird reaction shots make everyone seem sinister, especially the Captain and Data. Whoever directed it definitely made some strange choices.

Derek Orr

Voyager and Enterprise too!

Derek Orr

47 is hardly too old for a command of a ship like the Enterprise

Derek Orr

Oh man Tasha Yar was so cringe lol....and Picard shouting at the red alert alarm lol....and then the whole "now hear this, paper print outs only" etc etc wow...

Derek Orr

Oh man that bit with "Siri" giving spoken directions on the ship and a display map.... being presented as some wild new technology lol yikes....

bunnytails

Yeah this wasn't Tasha's best moment. She did kick ass though at least!

Summer

You asked about the uniforms, for some reason Command and helms people are now in red, engineering, security and operations/communications are gold/yellow which is huge, and medical and other sciences are supposed to be blue/teal. There are different reasons given for this.

Summer

I know some on YouTube pointed out you mishearing Worf, I didn’t point it out because one reason I watch reactors is to see different views on episodes I have seen many, many, many times. While Worf wasn’t saying exactly what you thought, it was an interesting way to see early Worf proving himself. You will find out more but I can’t tell you when
