Matthew Graves (Graviton)

Well, I’m definitely liking this. Excellent second episode. They picked up the pacing in this one and I agree with Bunny that the hour flew by. For just two episodes in I feel like they’ve already made pretty good start at establishing distinct characters with interesting traits. I like that the Lost Boys took names from the Peter Pan story. I hope the don’t just make Chevalier a stereotypical “hubristic genius who gets his comeuppance in the end. It seems like they are building some interesting complexity into his character. I’m guessing Joe isn’t dead and will stick around for a while since they seem to be setting him up as the “Everyman” character” that we can relate to. The atmosphere and tone continues to be stellar. Definitely enjoying this so far. Oh, and also, that eyeball thing creeps me the hell out

I'm still bothered by the lack of acknowledgement from the show that these are still kids. Though they are physically super strong and quick, they are mentally and professionally unsuited for a search-and-rescue mission where many civilian lives are at risk. Also, the story still makes no sense to me. I'm still waiting for some throwaway lines to explain why these kids are the best people for this job and why it's only them. Where is everyone else? The only nugget I got was the line that they are capable of being trained. (Boy Kavalier mentioned "the best training" and Wendy mentioned a "combat mode".) I'm presuming they can be trained nearly instantly in whatever task is required (like in the Matrix). Of course, there is no evidence of said training in the demeanor or actions of any of the characters. So, I'm left wanting. I'm still here but working hard at suspending my disbelief . I think I'm invested enough to at least finish the season even if the show gets substantially worse. On the plus side, I am enjoying the technical aspects of the show. The effects and sound are quite good and I'm looking forward to the first contact between the kids (esp. Wendy) and the prime Xenomorph.

The kids definitely seem underprepared. I think Kavalier just sent them out there out of curiosity.

Agreed about the atmosphere and tone being fantastic! And DOUBLE agreed about the eyeball thing!
