Alien: Earth - Episode 5 Full Watch-along

Awesome episode! I hope they renew the series! A great job reacting by bunny! Alien: Earth has had pretty solid characters and dialogue. Very interesting Morrow/ revenge on Cavalier setup. Bunny picked another winner for her fun and intelligent reacts!

Matthew Graves (Graviton)

This was an excellent hour of television. ALOT to like here. Smart choice to do a flashback at this point in y the series. It filled in a lot of character motivations (Morrow and Kavalier, and to a lesser extent Utani). As a horror/suspense piece it was top notch. As sci-fi it works as Alien can. As a character drama it’s pretty good, specially given we only had a short time to spend with most of these characters but they all worked pretty well IMO. It utterly fails as a mystery/whodunit, but there’s a certain genius in play here. The episode actually uses the tropes of setting up a mystery as a distraction of sorts to both crank up the suspense and to pull the focus in on our development of Morrow. Some may not like that they “cheated” with the identity of the saboteur but I actually feel that that was purposeful and quite clever, in a way. YMMV. I say it works as well as Alien ever does as sci-fi because it has always bothered me how a xenomorph can grow so big, so fast, without consuming huge smounts of food. Matter can’t be created from nothing, including the body mass of the alien. But that’s an issue with the first movie, firmly in canon already. Hell, for all I know it’s explained in one of the movies or other Alien franchise media I haven’t seen. So I guess the ARE going full blown supervillain with Kavalier. Ah well, let’s see how it plays out. Though as for your comment about villains Bunny, I think the only ones with “clean hands” at this point are Wendy and Joe. (with Slightly teetering on a moral edge with a choice to make). The “look” in this episode was fantastic. I agree with the xeno being not quite up to the feature film standard. On the other hand they made incredible use of some really cool, funky lighting effects. Some are deliberate nos to the Scott movie. Some are (as far as I can tell) unique. When you edit this for YouTube Bunny pay attention to how often weird lighting effects are used effectively to enhance the suspense. My new theory? Eyebuggy is not just intelligent but also telepathic and took control of of the other beasties, And she has her own agenda. Yeah, they called it a “she”. I wonder how they know. Which leads me to my LOL moment for the day “I hope it’s a tongue. The alternative is too horrible to contemplate “ Never change Bunny 😆 Oh, and Pumpkins! It’s like someone raided my college CD collection!

Ohh! It would make a lot of sense for the eye monster to be telepathic and taking control! I never even considered that!
