The writing is amazing and this overall series is by far my favorite of all time. I love the community that came with it and the creativity exercises that I’ve applied to this reaction series. I’m having the time of my life.

Yeah I defend Ironwood in v7 but at this point he's lost his fuckin mind. And part of that is just him but its also his semblance. Doesnt excuse his actions though.

By the way ghost, since Zen Reacts brought it up, Iron Woods Semblance is never brought up in the series. It’s talked about in a video during a RTX convention, don’t remember which video it was but this technically wouldn’t be spoiling you

This chapter clarified some things that were up in the air last time: It was Qrow and not Raven. You can actually tell which one you see by looking for two feathers emulating Qrow’s hair on top of the crow’s head. The raven Raven turns into doesn’t have those feathers. If you rewatch Ruby seeing the Hound’s real face, you can watch her realise that this is a Silver Eyed Warrior in real time. As for how the audience can realize that there, Silver Eyes also have a signifier: They have two or three lines that no other eyes in this show have. Also I love the reveal about what possibly happened to Summer. It brings different mysteries together in an interesting way. What happened to Summer? What is the new type of Grimm the Hound is part of? And why does Salem want Ruby alive (which annoys Cinder) when people like Maria were supposed to be killed and only survived by killing their pursuers? All these questions get answered by this one reveal. Summer possibly went to Salem alone to confront her believing her Silver Eyes could destroy Salem. Before Salem had her subordinates hunt and kill Silver Eyes Warriors but now one had come to her personally. Somehow she got the idea to start experiments with her. Probably to see if she could create Grimm immune to them. That is how the Hound was created. And the clear implication is that the Hound was only one of multiple Grimm. Another great pay-off is Watts’ rant towards Cinder. Because after the Fall of Beacon she didn’t have another big success like that. Since she got the Fall Maiden powers, she craved to get the other Maiden powers and you can tell that because of that desire, she stopped being this cunning manipulator and instead became this person always rushing into a fight to get more powerful. And having Watts point that out was brilliant. I personally never got why it was so hard to believe for some people that Ironwood could do the things he does right now. He was introduced by bringing his army to a peaceful event as a show of power and his actions in Volume 4 are also arlarming, even though we tend to ignore them because they go against Jaques. Of course he could have turned out differently. But again and again he chose to only trust in himself and if he has already decided to not listen to anyone else, the actions he can take get fewer and fewer and much more extreme.

I totally get that is was not made clear to what extent his Semblence influences him but there are a few things that lead me to believe that his Semblence helps him with thing he would have done even if he didn't have access to it. It is heavily implied that the type of Semblences someone has gets influenced by their personality. So in the end I think Ironwood without his Semblence would to the same things and maybe be a little bit more broken up about them. And I can also see how his actions in V7 can seem geniuine but something he was always consistent in is his disregard for Mantle. And because of that I personally can't find it in me to defend him in any capacity. But I do get the tough positions he is put into in V7. But he is not innocent in it getting so far. His disregard for Mantle is a big reason why the things could turn out like they did.

I’ve been so busy with finals that I didn’t watch this until today and BOY DID IT HIT ME LIKE THE FIRST TIME ALL OVER AGAIN. These two chapters are so emotionally dense…it really shows how incredible the show is in regards to character development and interactions. The stakes are so high, and the next three episodes have some of the most epic moments in RWBY history (in my humble opinion), as well as some of the hardest. Either way, it’s an incredible journey and I relate to you through your reactions in so many ways. I’m eagerly awaiting next week 😊
