It is done…

We’ve finally caught up to current RWBY.

Wow, what a journey. I can’t believe how much the show has impacted my life and I am so grateful for each and everyone of you of the community. You’ve literally made 2022 such a memorable year for me personally and creatively. The amount of moments, editors, brainstorming, creativity, roller coaster of emotions, and everything in between has been an experience I will NEVER forget.

It feels so surreal right now… I’m so glad that this is most likely my last BIG batch of editing for a bit until we stumble across something new. In the meantime, I can finally start editing the Patreon Custom Requests for this month. My trip was a success, and hopefully I can share a couple of photos when I receive them. We’re essentially halfway done with the month, and now that the big stuff is taken care of, I can focus on the other creative works I have for the remainder of the month.

Thank you all so much for your continued support and it literally keeps me going on a daily basis. I couldn’t do this without you and I’m so glad that we’ve established such beautiful bonds. Very curious to see what’s next as far as a big series to react to, if I even stumble across one that I’m comfortable with in 2023. But we’ll talk about that when we get there!!🤣🤣

In the meantime, I’m hoping that this is not blocked and then you can enjoy it as soon as it’s done processing on YouTube.

if/ when in vol 9 when John has to tell ruby what he did to penny that’s going to be rough….. remember though penny chose that. She spent her entire life with people in control of her telling her what she can and can’t do and in the end.. she was finally able to choose. For her self..

That’s exactly what I thought… That whole thing is going to be so painful. Also for Pietro, I don’t know where him and Maria are currently. Don’t know if they’re still an atlas, or if they made their way down to mantle… Or maybe they blended in with the other people at the central point station We’ll find out

Such a harsh ending. Some people out there are saying that they think that Ruby will be furious are Jaune, but I really don't think that'll happen. I think Jaune will be hardest on himself. A lot of people are really pissed in that "why did they bring penny back just to kill her off again". Well...we finally got a closure for her and somewhat of a proper goodbye. And, the whole job of a writer is to make their audience feel. And feel we all have. Very intensely.

I completely agree! I think Ruby initially will be upset, but more so confused regarding Jaune, but I feel like she would understand. And I hope that Weiss is around for that moment because she can confirm that Jaune had to do what he had to do. I was trying my best to keep tabs on whom was around when certain things happened. Penny’s death…I knew was coming, and it still sucked…. Vine’s hurt SO much

also off topic for a trip down memory lane I HIGHLY recommend the anime that just came out. It’s a nice little break piece to hit up b4 vol 9 it’s not traumatic and it’s fun. I have seen both sub and dub and they both are very well Done.

Also can we just appreciate Wise as the MVP of the fight doing half of it with no aura taking very real damage while watching her friends fall one by one but never giving up

I think it's cool how Jaune's sword broke during this fight, then he and the others fell to what I'm guessing is the Vault holding the Relic of Destruction, which takes the shape of a sword. Coincidence?

Oh damn this is good I never considered it was another vault but I think it may be the crown of choice instead since oz said he made that one very challenging

I always saw his sword breaking, specifically breaking off the part that had Penny’s bl00d on it, as a symbol of him being innocent of her death. He wasn’t the one who killed her, Cinder was. I never even considered the sword itself representing the relic…interesting theory to marinate on

I thought it might be the Beacon Vault too, but then I remembered that I have a better theory for the Crown of Choice. Ever notice the symbol on Glynda's cape?

It’s an incredible, devastating experience. I could write a dissertation on the symbolism and amazing writing, but I’ll only mention a two of the things that have always stood out to me: the last chapter is called “The Final Word”. Every chapter before this was a single word title. The last word spoken is Cinder saying “Checkmate.” We see Qrow mouth “Ruby” and “Yang” but we don’t hear it. It’s an amazing touch. 2) in the meeting between Winter and Penny, Winter is wearing her outfit from v7. Penny hasn’t seen Winter in her new outfit, so it harkens back to their moments together in v7, particularly the scene in the hallway before they go to Fria’s room. Penny is upset and Winter holds her hands just like they do in Penny’s final scene. 2.5. the background behind Penny in the opening of v7 is white and she does a similar smile with her eyes closed. Cruel foreshadowing. anyways, that’s my signature long comment! Excited for the stream this weekend!

Weiss fighting with Blake’s weapon hit me really hard. You can see the weapon shaking when she shoots it, and when the camera switches to her, you can see she’s crying and every shot she takes makes her recoil because she isn’t used to guns. And then she used it to dual-wield like Winter does…all while having no aura…the actual MVP.

There are a lot of things I could mention but you or another commentor have already mentioned it. The one thing I can tell is that Watts was the one that opened Ironwood's cell. Watts wanted him to wreak chaos. And Watts was so absorbed by his own need for revange on Atlas for not recognizing his genius he completly missed Cinder betraying him until it was too late. The deaths of both Watts and Ironwood are perfect. They both die on the city they forgot everything else for. And on top of that Ironwood did everything he did to oppose Salem and be a threat to her. And at the end she doesn't even awknowledge him.

as for Pyrrah's crown, if you look at the new decoration on Jaune's shield when he gets it from the blacksmith, it looks like the metal from her crown was used for that, so me of the decoration is in the same shape/profile as her crown.

I don't know if anybody mentioned this yet, but it only occurred to me after Yang fell. The lyrics to the opening song say "Sometimes it's worth it all to risk the fall."

And we finally get the closing of the complete tragedy of Ironwood's character. So determined, so headstrong, and so stubborn in his thinking that he shut everyone else out and thought only he had the correct answer. The realization of the finality of his situation during that last scene when he just lowers his head hit me really hard the first time I saw it.

When Yang fell…I completely checked out. I couldn’t focus on anything else no matter how hard I tried & Blake trying to jump in after her is what really made me lose my shit. You see the instant regret on that girl’s face when Yang falls and she’s in such shock & distress that it is palpable. This show has the uncanny ability to drain you of all hope. It’s to the point where when things happen accordingly (like Jacque Schnee getting exposed & arrested), I am genuinely caught off guard. All that to say, Yang (and by extension Ruby & Blake) is the only thing keeping me tethered to this damn show. When she fell all I could think was ‘I don’t think I can go on without her- they already took Pyrrha’. I was so happy when the rest of them fell because I honestly don’t think I would’ve been able to watch this show with both of my favorite characters gone. After I knew Yang was going to be okay, I was nothing but satisfied at the end, specifically because of Cinder. She’s such an idiot 😂. I feel she has no foresight and it’s to her detriment. She betrayed/got rid of all her allies (Arthur, Emerald, Neo), lied to Salem, and guaranteed that a shit-ton of people are going to be coming for her. I’m talking Taiyang, Qrow, possibly Raven (who already bodied Cinder once), the Schnees, Oscar, Ren, Nora. Almost everyone has a personal vendetta against that girl & she has no backup. Idk what she’s going to do if/when Team RWBY come back & Salem realizes that Cinder has been conning her (and she better pray Neo doesn’t come back too). Last thing I want to mention is Raven (sigh). She’s one of my least favorite characters despite the fact that I tend to agree with her line of thinking. It makes perfect sense to me that she’s upset that she’s forever on Salem’s hit list because Ozpin didn’t allow her to make an informed decision about joining his war against Salem. She’s not interested in fighting someone who can’t die, and I don’t blame her. However, that doesn’t change the fact that she is one of the biggest cowards on this show. She’s willing to sacrifice anyone for her own safety: her brother, her daughter, her tribe- I haven’t really seen her give a damn about anyone once in this whole show - if her life is on the line she will not help. And therefore, I am concerned about V9. Because wherever Jaune, Ruby, Weiss, Blake, & Yang fell to, Raven could potentially get them the fuck out of there via her connection to Yang. But will she? I literally have no idea, but it will be surprising to me if Taiyang & Qrow don’t ask her to at least check (if they can find where she is now).
