“I'm Joyce Heckmer.” Then a moment later she added, “Jason's cousin.”

“Fine Joyce. Let me introduce you to the class,” Mr. Kern said. Then in a louder voice, “Children, children, can I have your attention?” The class quieted down. Mr. Kern was a good teacher and had trained his class well. “This is Joyce, she will be filling in for Jason for a while. I want you to give her the same respect you would give to Jason or any other student in this class. Is that understood?”

The class responded with, “Yes, Mr. Kern.”

Joyce thought about what she had heard. Mr. Kern said, 'filling in for Jason for a while,' not a day. Joyce might be with him all week until she goes home at the end of her stay. This wasn't going to be good. But at the moment there was little she could do about it. She would have to figure out a way to get back to normal.

Joyce felt like a new student on the first day of being transferred to a new school. She didn't want to be there, but she knew this is where she belonged. The only way out was the 'Double or Nothing' thing. She had to figure out something that only she could win.

“That was Jason's seat and now it is yours,” Mr. Kern said indicating a seat in the third row on the left side of the room. Joyce took her things (book bag and lunchbox) and proceeded to the appropriate desk. Joyce sat down and resigned herself that she was stuck in this class just like any other fifth grader. She assumed the work would be easy, but who knew? Not everyone won the “Who Wants To Be Smarter Than A Fifth Grader,” show.

Joyce looked around the room. It was typical of any elementary schoolroom. There were colorful posters on the walls in a variety of subjects: English, Math, Science, and Social Studies. There was also plenty of the student's work hanging from the walls, all had exceptional grades printed upon them in a bright red pencil. Usually, a 100% but there were some 90s too. A long chalkboard took up the front of the room. To the left were windows and heating elements. On the right were the coat closets and in the back were cubbies.

Before heading to her seat, Joyce went to the coat closet, she found an empty hook, and put her jacket upon it. It was a denim jacket that Joyce thought looked cute with her polo shirt. She didn't need it to keep warm on this spring day. Since she was the tallest 'student' in the room by far most of the top hooks were empty, she selected one closest to her seat.

Joyce found herself surrounded by girls. The seats had been arranged such that the boys and the girls were inter-dispersed. This was a sensible precaution in a world where the boys and the girls each thought the other had 'cooties.' As far as Joyce could tell everything was perfectly normal. The only thing wrong with this entire school was that she was in it and no one seemed to mind.

Taking her seat she did what the other students had done. She took out her workbook and did the problem on the board which was labeled 'Do Now'. The problem was on fractions. There was a list of fractions with one missing and she had to figure out what was the missing fraction. It was very easy stuff and she finished quite quickly. She wasn't the first to finish the problems, some of the students had started before she had, but when she was done she had time to think.

Joyce couldn't really believe where she was. She was a grown woman in a school with fifth graders. Anyone else would be arrested, especially in this day and age where the world seemed to be full of nuts. The clothes she was wearing, weren't particularly boyish. Jeans and a polo shirt were fine, although most of the boys wore t-shirts. Her shoes were sneakers that were a bit worn. She would have thrown them out long ago if they were hers and bought a newer pair. Not that she wore sneakers much.

The socks she was wearing which peaked out between her jeans and her shoes were just boring white athletic socks. She would prefer something with a touch of color or style. The most boyish thing was her boxer briefs, which no one saw of course. They had an entirely unnecessary fly.

She also needed a bra. Her breasts were totally unsupported, and the outline of her nipples could clearly be seen under the shirt. No one seemed to care, but Joyce knew it wasn't right and it bothered her. Joyce tried not to dwell upon that. She tried to convince herself that a day without wearing a bra wasn't any big deal. It wouldn't hurt her back, even if it went on for a few days.

All the teachers and staff of the school treated Joyce as if she was just another male student including Mr. Kern.

The children were another story. She wasn't sure if they were treating her like they would any other student who was new or as an adult in their mitts. Some students would take casual glances at her, others would stare openly from time to time. It didn't matter the gender of the student, both sexes would do it. No one talked to her, and she didn't try and talk to anyone. Joyce didn't see any reason to become friendly with any of the students. Besides, any talking between students was quickly put an end to by Mr. Kern anyway. All Joyce wanted to do was get through the day.

A short time later, Mr. Kern came to Joyce's seat. “Now over there,” Mr. Kern pointed to an area on the chalkboard in the left corner. “This is where we write down tomorrow's homework. Write it down and do it at home.” Mr. Kern told her confidentially.

Joyce wasn't sure if she was supposed to do it or Jason. This would be clearly Jason's homework, but she was the one attending the class now and she didn't know what the Cheater's Stone would expect. She supposed the homework would be easy anyway. She decided to just write it down now and worry about who would do it later.

Mr. Kern ran his class very well. He had trained his students to be well-behaved. No one spoke without first putting his hand up or being acknowledged by name. Mr. Kern selected mostly from the students with their hands up, but he could also ask some students who tried to stay motionless.

Joyce didn't raise her hand, but when Mr. Kern asked her a question, she answered it. Joyce kept her voice even when answering the question. She didn't want to make any trouble. Mr. Kern went from one subject to the other in an efficient manner. Joyce who had been a teacher (although in high school) appreciated the expertise that Mr. Kern had in running his classroom.

Doing the fifth-grade work was simplistic for Joyce. It was really a waste of her time, but she had to stay here just like any other student. She didn't know how long this would last. It might last just until it was time to go home, but she wasn't sure. “Did this mean,” she thought, “that she couldn't go home on Friday as she planned? Maybe she could, but she might be back at school on Monday then.

The Cheater's Stone was obviously very powerful, she was helpless against it. If it wanted her back here, then she would have to go. It was obvious since she was here, and no one thought she was out of place. It was like adults went to school for their cousins all the time. Did the people think she was a little boy? Joyce didn't think so, but they treated her like she did belong at this school which was ridiculous.”

All these thoughts went through her mind. It scared her. She had to figure a way out of this and a bet that she could win was the only way.

Then another thought occurred to her what if she had to go to the bathroom, which one should she use? She was still a woman, but she was dressed as a boy, sort of. Her boxer briefs were definitely made for a boy, but the jeans and the polo shirt were unisex. Joyce guessed it didn't matter too much, being in an elementary school class and being treated just like one of the students was a worse problem.

Joyce determined to wait until she got home if she needed to go. Then she was reminded that her period could start at any time. She didn't even bring any pads. Was she allowed to use pads? The Cheater's Stone couldn't expect her to bleed all over herself? Could it?

Back at home Jason finally got out of bed. He loved that he could go back to bed and sleep late. This was heavenly to him. It was great that no one told him what to do.

When he got out of bed, he was wearing Joyce's panties and a long nightgown which had been shrunk somewhat to fit his frame. Joyce usually wore shorter more sexy nightgowns at home, but she had bought longer ones for the trip since there would be children around.

Looking into Joyce's suitcase, Jason looked for something comfortable to wear. But there wasn't anything particularly comfy. It was all stylish women's apparel. There wasn't anything simple like a regular pair of jeans. The jeans that Joyce had packed were very tight, especially in the wrong places. Besides the underwear, bras, and panties, there were skirts, blouses, and dresses. But even the t-shirts were different than what he usually wore. Crop tops and cap sleeves, the necks were designed to show off tops of breasts which Jason didn't have. He didn't like them at all.

He decided to use the second part of his bet to change things. He could have changed the clothes to more masculine apparel as he had changed the size but decided to make him like the clothes that Joyce had brought instead.

He would now only like stylish feminine apparel. He didn't use those words; he didn't even know what was in style for women's apparel right now. But the Cheater's Stone could understand him.

Jason now felt totally comfortable in any clothing that Joyce had brought or owned. This included the desire to wear a bra if for no other reason just out of a sense of modesty.

Now that Jason liked being stylish as much as Joyce had, getting dressed took a while longer. Jason didn't mind that the clothes were tight, it was much more important that they looked pretty. Since the clothes had been resized, they fit as well as possible given his boyish proportions. He also made his face up with makeup to improve his appearance. Not that anyone thought that he was a boy in drag. The Cheater's Stone wouldn't allow for that.

Jason was determined to put on something like his mother would wear. He wanted to wear leggings with a nice top and shoes.

He found some printed ankle leggings with a black and pink heart pattern. They were made of cotton with 5% spandex which hugged his legs. He had never worn pants that hugged his legs so. They were very soft, and he loved the feel. Jason never knew clothing could feel so comfortable. Even his favorite most worn-in jeans didn't feel this good. He moved his hand up and down his leg just enjoying the softness.

Then he found a white off-the-shoulder scalloped top with blue lace trim. This was also something new for him. He had never worn anything that was off-the-shoulder. It had a scooped neck, but wasn't too revealing for him, he didn't have anything to reveal anyway. He just loved it and it worked so well with the leggings. It even hung low enough on his leggings that it covered the bulge that should be clearly evident.

Next, he found a pair of sandals with a small heel and a strap around the ankle. He put them on, but these sandals were made to be worn with bare feet, so he removed his socks and then put the sandals on once again.

His outfit was complete. Not only did he look good, but the clothes were super comfortable. He even liked how his bra straps could be seen above the shoulders of his top.

The white top with the light pink bra worked very nicely. Everything looked so nice on him and felt so good that he decided that as long as the bet was in effect that he would always wear the clothes that he couldn't wear normally. He didn't want to wear skirts all the time, but these leggings felt heavenly on his legs. Maybe next time he would wear them with nylon panties. He had never worn nylon underwear before. He was sure they would feel great too.

Joyce didn't know that the next phase of the bet was made since she hadn't heard Jason make it. But she now found much more at ease with the clothes she was wearing. She actually felt a little overdressed. None of the other boys had dressed up as she did. She could have worn a comfortable pair of jeans and any old t-shirt. She didn't need to waste her time picking out an outfit. She didn't even do it right, since she had to hurry to breakfast. If she was stuck like this tomorrow, she wouldn't bother. Not like anyone would care or even know once they were swapped back.

Now that the final part of the last bet was fulfilled, Joyce was free to think of a new bet. The Cheater's Stone wouldn't let her think of a new bet until the old one was completed. She didn't realize that it had worked that way. She didn't even consciously know that Jason had completed what he wanted. Joyce wanted to get home and win back 'her life'.

With plenty of time to think, she had to come up with a bet with Jason that she knew she would definitely win. She decided upon betting that he couldn't solve a riddle. She knew a bunch. She had been exposed to them as she was growing up. The answer would be things like the letter 'E', a river, time, and all sorts of esoteric things. She was sure she could remember one that Jason couldn't figure out. She would just have to come up with one that he hadn't heard before.

That was the problem, people told these famous riddles all the time, maybe he had heard one. Joyce spent the rest of the day coming up with the perfect riddle. She wanted to test it out on one of the students, but she was mostly left alone by the other students. She still didn't know if that was because she was the new kid or because she was an adult or if it was because she wore such nice clothes, and the other boys didn't. As a result, during lunch at a table full of kids, no one talked to her.

But during the gym period, things changed. Joyce was surprised that the boys wanted her on their team. The reason was obvious, Joyce may be a woman, but she was still bigger and stronger than eleven-year-olds of either gender. She didn't need to know how to shoot, she was taller than anyone else. If the ball missed, she could rebound it before anyone else had a chance. Eventually, she got the ball in. This made her a hit with the boys on her team.

Soon the day was over, and Joyce drove herself home. Joyce had to circle back and pass the school again on her way home. She saw the students waiting in line for the school bus and was glad she could just drive herself. Joyce noticed that Mr. Kern wasn't so lucky, he was waiting in line with the rest of the students.

Marcia and Jason were home when she got there. Jimmy was still at work, Sofia was at daycare and Dylan would be home soon. Dylan had a longer trip from the high school and she had to wait for the bus.

“How was school?” Marcia asked.

“It was boring. I don't want to go.”

“Then you shouldn't have swapped with Jason.”

“I didn't swap, I lost a bet.”

“Same difference. Jason and I are going out shopping do you want to come with us?”

“OK, I guess.”

“Do you have homework?”

“Homework?”

“Yes, didn't the teacher give you homework?”

“Well yeah, but shouldn't Jason, do it?”

“It's your homework. You had better get to it.”

Marcia was right, it was her homework. If it wasn't done, she was the one who would get into trouble. She thought she could get things back to normal later, but just in case. She really didn't want to cause a fuss at school if she had to go back. She was sure that the riddle thing would work. She would have asked Jason about it now, but Jason left with Marcia to go clothes shopping before she had a chance.

Joyce stayed home and started her homework. But first, she took off the nice clothes and put on some things that were just more comfortable. She didn't care if they were torn or had style as long as they were comfortable. She didn't even want to bother with a bra anymore. She didn't want to admit to herself that the thought of wearing a bra sort of creeped her out.

Once they were gone, Joyce finished her homework in a few minutes. Joyce never realized how much fun playing basketball could be. There was a hoop in the park that was only a half-mile away. Joyce decided to drive over and practice a little. She had missed too many shots. The other boys couldn't compete with her height, but it would be better if she could just put the ball in the hoop instead of trying over and over again.

Joyce didn't know what they were called, but she tried some layups first. It took a while to get the hang of them, but she had time.

Then she decided to shoot from a little farther away. It wasn't fair to the kids if she just stood under the hoop and kept shooting until she got one in. When she was done, she was completely sweaty, and her hair was a mess. She didn't care one bit about her appearance. All of those concerns belonged to Jason now.

A handsome gentleman saw Joyce shooting hoops alone and asked to join her. They were mostly shooting hoops, but there was a little flirting going on too. Joyce made a 'basketball' date with this young man for Friday. Joyce was sure that the bet would be over by then.

Joyce debated upon driving over to the mall where Marcia and Jason were clothes shopping. She wanted to tell Marcia about the cute guy that she met and maybe get Jason to return everything to normal. She decided to watch some TV and wait for them instead.

Dylan was home when Joyce returned. Dylan was dressed in leotards and tights practicing her cheers in the living room. Joyce watched her from behind. Dylan was quite good. She had a great singing voice even while she was shouting. She was very flexible and moved effortlessly from cheer to cheer. Joyce had also been a cheerleader when she was in school, so she knew of what she thought. She was nowhere as near as good as Dylan was now though.

"Wow, that's great!"

"Do you really think so?"

"Yes, I do. You have lots of talent."

"I practice all the time. I'm the head cheerleader you know. I have to set a good example. That goes for dance too. I'm also dating one of the football players. It's just sort of expected. Being popular is hard work."

"Take it from me, you don't have to do anything you don't want to do."

"That is what you would think, but it's not as simple as that. Not in high school anyway."

"You definitely don't have to date a boy you don't like."

"It's not that I don't like him. It's just..." In an effort to change the subject, Dylan asked, "Do you want to see the full routine?"

"You bet I would."

"I can't do it in here, but if we go outside."

"Sure, let's go."

"Meet you there."

Dylan got a boombox to play in the background. She turned it on and took her pose. Then she cheered her heart out. Joyce thought it was wonderful.

There was just one thing that distracted her. Dylan was cheering in just a leotard that didn't have a skirt in front like the cheer uniform did. Joyce could clearly see the outline of Dylan's penis and balls underneath. Joyce couldn't take her eyes off of it. She knew that when Dylan was cheering for real, no one could see them. But Joyce couldn't help it.

"Fantastic!" Joyce said. It wasn't Dylan's fault that she didn't change into the proper uniform. Joyce wouldn't expect her to. The uniform could get damaged or dirty. This was just practice.

"Thank you, thank you!"

After Dylan was done, the pair went to the kitchen so that Dylan could have a snack and a drink. They got to talking.

"How did you like school?" Dylan asked.

"It was OK, I guess."

"Are you going back tomorrow?"

"Probably not. I'll have to talk to Jason."

"Well, be careful with the Cheater's Stone. Sometimes it doesn't work the way you expect."

"It doesn't?"

"No."

"How did you know about the Cheater's Stone? You weren't there when we were playing Jenga."

"No, but I was there during breakfast."

"So you know I'm not supposed to be at Jason's school?"

"You are supposed to be at Jason's school. He won, didn't he."

"Well, yes."

"Then that's the way it's supposed to be. Don't worry you get used to it."

"I'll never get used to going to grade school."

"If you say so."

"Wait, you have experience with the Cheater's Stone?"

"I know of it."

"Did you use it?"

"Nothing big. But I haven't used it since."

'Were you a winner or a loser?"

"I'm not saying. I'm just saying to be careful. Wait, I changed my mind. It usually all works out in the end. But enough about that. I've taken enough of a break. I'm going to practice again."

“Your dad was right. You are very good.”

“Practice makes perfect. My teacher says I am the best in the class. I practice every day I can. Even when I don't have school.“

“I can tell. Keep it up.”

A while later, the phone rang, it was Marcia. “I'm running late, can you pick up Sofia from daycare?”

“Sure thing.”

“I'll call daycare and let them know to expect you. She'll be ready in about fifteen minutes.”

“I'll be there,” Joyce agreed and then to Dylan “Want to come and help me pick up Sofia?” It would be easier if Dylan directed Joyce to the daycare.

“I don't know.”

“I'll get ice cream on the way home.” Dylan may be sixteen but everyone likes ice cream, so he decided to come along. Joyce secured the spare car seat into the backseat. Then they went to pick up Sofia.

Dylan had to put back on her sneakers to go outside. The daycare wasn't too far and Dylan knew how to get there. Dylan waited in the car while Joyce went inside to get Sofia. She didn't take her jacket since it was only a few steps to the door.

Joyce was dressed like a preteen boy in ripped jeans, a t-shirt with a T-rex on it, no bra, and sneakers. Her boobs sagged and her nipples could clearly be seen, but Joyce didn't care about her appearance anymore. She didn't even wear a hint of makeup.

Joyce went inside and told them who she was. They said they had been expecting her and brought her into the facility to get Sofia.

A little boy liked the T-Rex on Joyce's shirt and told her, "I love dinosaurs."

"Me too," Joyce told him.

There wasn't any shock about how Joyce was dressed. An attendant was helping Sofia get ready. Once Sofia had her jacket on and all of her stuff, Joyce took her by the hand and led her to the car. Sofia got into the back seat and sat in the spare car seat.

Joyce drove them to the ice cream shop, and they all got out to select their favorite flavor. Everyone got their pick, and the trio ate the ice cream in the shoppe. Joyce didn't want her car to get all dirty. It was at the ice cream shoppe that Sofia noticed what Joyce was wearing. “Dinosaurs are scary,” she said.

“Don't worry. There aren't any more dinosaurs left,” Joyce said wanting to ease the little girl's fears. Sofia was only four, there was no reason to make the girl feel bad.

“Sofia, how was daycare?”

“It's not daycare, it's my school.” The daycare was known as school to the attendees.

“OK, how was school?”

“We had lots of fun. We played singing games.”

“Like what?”

Sofia tried to sing the song she had learned but without music and the help of the attendant she got it all wrong. But she pressed on regardless.

“Wow, that was great. You're a good little singer,” Joyce enthused. “Can you sing as well as Dylan? What else did you do?”

Sofia explained as best she could what she did. For half the time, the boys and girls were separated to do their own activities. There were a few activities that both genders did together, such as singing. But for the most part, the boys played boys games with the other boys and the girls played girls games with the other girls.

During their conversation, Dylan's cell rang, and she answered it. It was her boyfriend. Dylan's 'boyfriends' used to be under seventeen, now all her boyfriends are over seventy-one.

“What's wrong?” Joyce asked.

“It's my boyfriend. He said they are going to be playing BINGO at the home. He wanted to know if I could come.”

“Are you going to go?”

“I don't think so.”

“Why not?”

“We got into a big fight last time. I told him he has to keep his dentures in when he sees me. But he doesn't. Then when I complain, he says he can't hear me because of his hearing aid. But I know his hearing aid works just fine. I don't know I might have to break up with him.”

Dylan didn't explain, but what she meant was her boyfriend kept forgetting to take out his dentures when he was sucking Dylan's member. Dylan couldn't tell his aunt a thing like that.

“Relationships are always complicated. I have similar problems with my boyfriends.”

“Boyfriends?”

“Yeah, I have three right now.”

“How do you juggle that many.”

“I just do.”

go to Chapter 2 go to Chapter 4
