The Elevator Hundred and First Floor (Patreon)

Cardonali the magical imp was doing what he always did, he caused trouble to others for his own amusement. Cardonali had the ability to put any thought into a person's mind and manipulate them as he wanted to. He stood unobserved or at least unacknowledged in the back of an elevator waiting to see who would get in.
"Levi is that you?"
"Yeah, Joseph?"
"Right."
"What happened to us?"
"I don't know."
Levi gave him a look.
"I mean besides the obvious." When Joseph and Levi had entered the elevator they had been men in their early thirties who were on their way to work. They carpooled together. The next thing they knew was that they were alone in the elevator looking as they are now.
"How do you feel?"
"I don't know. I don't feel that much different. I mean I don't feel a tingling or anything like that. I feel pretty normal."
"Me too," Levi replied without having to be asked. "I've changed so much, but I don't feel any different."
"What about down there?"
"I know it's missing, but it's not like I consciously think about how it feels all the time. Levi moved his hand to his crotch. "It's gone, but it doesn't feel strange. It's just my body."
"Yeah, me too."
Curious, both men looked into the mirrored surface of the elevator to see what they looked like. They didn't have the bodies they expected, but they didn't think that they looked bad. Their bodies were fine if they saw them on any young lady, but it wasn't them. Regardless, due to Cardonali, they weren't panicked about their appearance.
"Look at how we are dressed. They are school uniforms." Under their jackets, they could plainly see the jumpers, blouses, and black tights.
"I suppose, it is time about to be time for school. What time is it?" Joseph instinctively looked at the watch on his wrist, it was a girl's watch of course. "It's about 8:15," he announced.
"What should we do?"
"Well driving to work doesn't seem like a good idea."
"Right."
"I suppose we could go back home."
"That is fine for you, you're not married or living with anyone. I have a wife at home. What will she say when she sees me?"
"She'll have to see you eventually. If we don't know how we got this way. Then I don't think we know how to get back."
"I don't want to show her right now."
"OK, come to my place and we'll...I don't know what we'll do."
"OK, let's go."
When the elevator got to the garage, neither got out of it. They took it back to the 101st floor where Joseph lived. They walked to his apartment.
At his door, Joseph looked for his keys in his jacket pockets. He did find keys, but they weren't to his apartment. "Now what?"
"It's back to my apartment then. I can't think of anything else. It's either that or go to the middle school." Levi had fouled a wallet that contained his new identification along with his class schedule. The pair headed towards Levi's apartment where his wife could let him in.
