This album is truly the work of a genius 🙌 Love this masterpiece

Xoxoree

He’s definitely dropping bombs and speaking his mind, as an RM bias respectfully this album is some of his best work and is totally different from his last album indigo which is also a masterpiece in my opinion. I think y’all should finish this one I’ve had around the world in a day on repeat.

Mazouri Beasley

I think this album along with his others are a travel thru his mind! Just like how lost had a part that said “rms mind”. Tbh I agree with the freedom in bts vs solo NOW but when I tell you before the fame and such bts was UNHINGED especially the rap line I think I said before that as more people started being fans (especially Korean fans respectfully) they had to clean it up a little more and I feel like they are done with that! All of them! However I don’t think it’s done being in bts I think it’s done trying to appeal to some fans that can’t handle that they are grown and can do and say what they want even if there are consequences(which I’m sure we learn ped that years ago but some fans find it hard to accept)

.

OMGGGGGG!! Watching when I’m off work

Mazouri Beasley

Now to be clear these are just my thoughts I don’t know if anything I’m saying is 100% true! And Jody everyone is untitled to their own opinion I understand trying to tread lightly but that shouldn’t put restrictions on what you post even if you disagree with everything I just said and even if we go back and forth I will still support your channel to the best of my abilities the people who want to stay will and those who don’t don’t I mean people got mad at you for not liking suga at first yet now you obviously corrected yourself with more content you seen from him and I think some army need to acknowledge that some things don’t have to be said it can be shown so eventually you will get into some more content that will twist some of your opinions in the future and I’m glad you willing for that to happen:)

Mazouri Beasley

Sorry for the long comment I’m just yappin💀 but I still mean everything I said lol

☾Joey

Personally, this is my favorite album from any of the solo releases since they took a break from group projects. Love experimental and alternative music… this had my attention start to finish. After your reaction to “Lost”, I knew yall wouldn’t really vibe with this album lmaoo but I appreciate this album listening party nonetheless 💜 But I am surprised that you’d say he prioritized the lyrics significantly more than the actual music. I actually thought he balanced them quite well! I loved the instrumentals a ton, but to each their own. The breadwinner part in “Groin” has 2 completely different translations. No idea how they got what they got, or if it’s just next level Korean wordplay, but the first translation that came out by fans was what you read in this lyric video about him being a breadwinner for a guy he doesn’t like. But then other fan translators said the lyrics were something like “let me say what I wanna before I die of anger/ to those who don’t like me I’m always speaking alien/ blah blah blah blah” the blah blah part apparently references a Korean meme where a woman is speaking gibberish. The official Mv for groin came out yesterday, and the captions used the 2nd translation (the blah blah blah one). I’m not a native Korean speaker, so I honestly don’t know which translation to believe. Both versions were made from fans who obviously do speak Korean… so really, I’m lost. This was definitely a raw release of emotions from Rm. Loved how you can tell he’s *free* in this album (as much as he can be, anyway)

Laurynn Coleman

I will say you guys are not the only one thinking it is executives at HYBE. BangPD is being dragged online right now for a multitude of reasons and since RM dropped this, a lot of ARMYs online also feel the same way as you guys. I also don't think you're crazy Jody. I had the same thoughts when I heard this album as well. The only few times I thought "yo that take was off" was stuff you were saying about Yoongi. But the cool thing is you eventually learn. Which is why I am always in support of you guy's opinions, bc that's all they are, opinions. If what you are saying is completely crazy, I think there is time for you guys to figure that out the longer you watch BTS. BTS are likely not watching yall's patreon so you guys are allowed to have honest thoughts as long as it is not malicious, which i never felt from you guys. Realistically, I know yall are still gonna have to be a bit PC on here, but just know some of your viewers are able to understand and give you guys room to learn as well. Thanks for the videos!!

K

RM IS A MASTERMIND. A lot of people ain’t fw rm musically and lyrically.

Aicha Karamoko

Also react to MMM (Mini& Moni Music) RM invited Jimin to listen to his album and explain what the album is about .💜💜

K

I Rmb rm got hate for smoking bc it was a picture.im glad he said he didn’t care .Im so glad he’s speaking his truth even tho rm has been doing this But I’m still so happy. I DONT THINK YALL UNDERSTAND rm gets hate EVERYDAY like out of the members he gets the most hate in my opinion. People are always on twitter dragging him for absolutely NO REASON I believe this album was a response to haters and evb who wronged him

K

Um I don’t really think they have to be “Disney” I don’t feel like that’s the right way to describe but ofc they have to portray some type of image that I agree on. Especially them being the biggest kpop group so yeah there is stuff he can’t talk about in the group songs and what not

Jungkook💜

Nah fr did you see what people have been saying about him and that girl that twisted his words and now kpop fans are sending him 💀 threats it’s actually so sad cause he’s such a sweet guy :/

Gladeez (Gladys)

Want y’all to know this is far from the first time a BTS member is cursing in their music haha, the more music y’all get to the more y’all will see this isn’t something new with them and is very normal, they’re not as pg13 with the way their group title tracks make them seem since they do have to keep up a certain image sometimes as BTS, y’all are seeing that difference rn by diving into solo work, also some members but mainly RM be cussing up a storm when they go live on weverse to chat with us, I hope y’all explore that side of the guys more, oh also we know RM (and JK, Tae, and Suga) smoke (publicly for ex: Jungkook was smoking out in public, he also had his vape showing when he was live once, some armys ended up selling out the specific vape he had😭, Suga shows himself smoking in his mv’s, Tae was seen smoking at the Grammys, he’s also been seen with a vape multiple times, RM also accidentally posted a pic of him smoking with his friends on ig) and all of them do drink, some members heavily (not enough to where it’s an actual problem LMAO) the mature armys don’t have any issues with that (this comment came to mind after y’all reaction to RM’s song “Out Of Love”) can’t wait to see the rest of the reaction! I can also link y’all non pg 13 stuff the members have done 💀 (this might upset some armys don’t stone me y’all just updating them on the grown stuff BTS actually does as they are grown men and can do what they want haha)

safiya m

they curse like crazy and have been since the beginning ☠️ i guess its harder to catch because they curse in korean too and the translations are always watered down to words like ‘bastard’ or ‘jerk’

safiya m

i dont think you guys said anything crazy in this reaction tbh, but i don’t think rm (or tae) ever said he wanted to leave bts. tae was talking about how they all considered disbanding back in 2018 because of how stressed they were

Gladeez (Gladys)

I love the message RM is portraying through this album, it’s so real and just a big F you to multiple people, this is why I love BTS solo works so much they all get so real because when it comes to their solo work they have FULL REIGN over their solo works they have said so themselves which is great !! Because we get all of them being so open in their personal work, I hope y’all continue to do solo dives on BTS because it’s a whole new world !!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Gladeez (Gladys)

Right it’s so funny I love when Jody and Eman get shocked when they hear anyone in BTS curse meanwhile all the members been cursing since forever they just haven’t gotten to that content yet 😂😭😭

Gladeez (Gladys)

Yoooo the hate RM, JK, and Tae got when people found out they smoke was insane, but it was the worst for RM bro gets extremely hated on for NO REASON, I’m glad he dgaf and adresses it

safiya m

that clip where jimin scared hobi in that abandoned house and the audio was censored for like 7 seconds ☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️

Jackie

Min’na tomodachi koko de odorimashou 🤓

Gladeez (Gladys)

Jody y’all not the only one, the HYBE executives and BangPD (bro who made BTS) is being HATED on online cause they are NOT good people bro, they getting exposed rn, they’re so trash bro, so A lot of armys including myself ALSO feel the exact same as y’all !! (Including myself) 💯

Gladeez (Gladys)

LMAOOO NAH HOBI WAS CURSING SO MUCH BRO 😭 please that was hilarious Jimin ain’t shit for doing Hobi like that LMAOOO

Jodys Corner

Thank you for saying that. Free speech is something I believe heavily in. Even if its wrong. Thank you for voicing your opinion and encouraging others to let us voice ours.

Jodys Corner

The fact that their are translation issues with this one part tells me a lot. LOL. hopefully, they will figure out what the lyrics REALLY say.

Jodys Corner

THANK YOU LAURYNN. I hope to see you comment more often in the future. I get confidence boosts reading these positive messages!

Jodys Corner

Do you think he gets the MOST hate out of the whole group?

Jodys Corner

How would you describe it if its not being Disney? I noticed that Disney did some deals with them already.

Amanda Michelle

@Kk @Jody I think Jody's "Disney" view of BTS is mostly because of his limited exposure to BTS' discography. Jody loves the English songs (Permission to Dance is my favorite of the English songs too) but there are SO many Korean songs that would probably change Jody's mind...or rather, open his eyes to the "darker" side of BTS and their music. Jody and E-man have never even heard the CYPHERS where the rappers destroy the haters, or "Daeng" or RM's "Joke" and "Do you" where RM curses left, right, and center! LOL. E-man, sweet E-man...you just don't know! LOL. Guys, please do your best to explore more of the music...you'll discover that BTS is hardly "Disneyfied"...I know it may seem like they are TO AN EXTENT, but the MUSIC speaks volumes!

Linda C.

I think there is a third option for breadwinner. Because he brought up diplomat earlier, he could be talking about the Govt. BTS was bringing 4 billion in to the economy, the Govt was trying to control everything with the debate about whether they would serve in the military. There was a huge thing with the Busan concert, the Govt. cornered them into doing that for free to help their bid for the World Expo happening in Korea. The Govt. even pulled out of paying for the concert and Hybe had to pay the costs. The Govt. literally gave them diplomatic passports and sent them to the UN. The previous song had Free Soul which can have a double meaning Free Seoul. S. Korea is a young democracy. I’m not arguing with you about anything you said. Don’t yell at me lol. You should watch the interview with RM and Jimin talking about the album. He says a lot about the pressure he has as leader of BTS.

Jodys Corner

FASHOOOOO! So I can say how I felt since day 1?????

Linda C.

Also, I don’t think this is a car album, I think it needs to be an at home on VINYL album. This was made for just groovin to a record player.

Linda C.

Those idiots just looking for something to drag the guys about, especially RM.

K

Disney in my eyes is bubbly and talking about cute topics. Bts music is not that. Ofc they have songs like dynamite, butter, ptd which are pretty poppy or “Disney” but an artist dosent have to be cussing and swearing for it to not be considered “Disney”. Majority of BTS music talks about serious topics. I don’t get what’s Disney about them? and yea you’ve guys checked out a couple of songs but BTS songs have so much deep meaning to them. When you guys listen to all of there music then I want you decide if it’s Disney or not. Cus millions would disagree . Ofc they aren’t gonna be talking about Sex and drugs and all of that but why when they aren’t talking about that they are considered “Disney”? And what does them having a deal or whatever with Disney have to do with there image..?

K

As of right now Most definitely. But Rn bts as a whole are getting hate for drama going on with the company. Everyone’s “boycotting” and stuff

.

I don’t think bts is Disney at all. I think yall have that view bc yall ain’t rlly even scratched the surface or their music and other content. It might feel like u have but there’s so much more

.

He definitely was with a toxic baddie 🤣

𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐚𝐚ఌ

Jody I love yall raw reactions so much. The way these other bts reactors be getting 100k views and shit. Y’all should be getting those views. And this is by far one of joons best albums. I love the rawness he gave and I want more of this from him from now on, no more holding back I want him to let it all out. He dealt with a lot of shit for 10 years from kpoppies fucking with him calling him ugly and stuff and just hating for no fucking reason he’s the most hated in the group. I really want him to bring rap monster back and let mfs know he ain’t to be played with.

Linda C.

Yup, he is. We can’t be 100% but the album plus what he has been saying since Festa 22 all lead to this.

Jodys Corner

Question. Does the new "RM" make you question if he was really "Real Me?" this album speak otherwise. How long has "Real Me" been a thing?

𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐚𝐚ఌ

He changed the name meaning in 2017 he said he didn’t want to be looked at as a monsters. I think he was“Real Me (Him). But sometimes the hate/anger will bring out another character (Rap Monster). He been getting hate since debut. He has a lot of build up in him. Even on his lives he talked about the hate he received in the industry. He just was not really saying nothing but now he is.

Queen

part 2, part 2!!!! lol🥹

IpurpleYou💜

Loved the reaction!! My favorite song is GROIN. I highly recomend the MINI-MONI interaction were RM explaied his feelings and process making this album to Jimin. I'm one of the Army's that thinks BTS does not have a bad relation with BangPD, just because of what I've seen and heard how Bang PD and the BTS members speak about each other. All members have expressed that they have kind of a Father/Son relation with BangPD. Bang PD is currently being dragged because of other kpop groups and I really don't know if they are facts or not, but I've seen him protective of BTS. He was even there when they inlisted to the Military and even gave them care packages. Jin has even done lives drinking and cooking with BangPD. They are all still under BigHit even during their solo albums, they have their own studios within Hybe. But I do think he is speaking to the goverment and all other corporations that use BTS for their own benefit, just to make money off of them. In the interaction he had with Jimin he said he feels a lot of pressure being the leader of BTS and he wanted to just let everything go and make people understand he is just a normal guy with flaws and all.

Linda C.

With the Korean songs, there are a couple of explanations on DKDKtv that I think they should watch, not to give them an opinion, but to explain the cultural Korean references. If they saw the wordplay and such they would understand how BTS sends an underlying message , especially when talking about the media and government, “the netizens”.

Linda C.

I’m team Hybe with the current controversy, but I get what you mean.

Linda C.

If they aren’t Disney, they won’t allow them on network TV, they won’t be able to get on the music shows, if they don’t get on shows, they won’t get radio play in Korea because a lot of those companies are financially linked. Also, their sponsors in Korea are conservative. It’s the deep cuts on the album that have the more real commentary, even then you can miss it because they use Korean wordplay and references.

Linda C.

RM and Jimin get the most hate and death threats.

Yennhi

I rlly love this may y’all doing some more listening album like this of BTS album or solo album i request Agust D (Suga) album next 🫶

K

Why do we keep calling them Disney they are GROWN MEN they don’t make music for 5 year olds.

Amanda Michelle

ABSOLUTELY! "Daeng" definitely needs to be explained, so Jody, please go to DKDKtv for the explained video to "Daeng." :)

Maeee

Came for album listen, stayed for hella wisdom about loving yourself (well a reminder)

Maeee

IDK about everyone else, but I loved this reaction, there's so many fake reactors who don't wanna disect what the artists are actually saying and scared of being "wrong" when the "expert" armies don't even know either beacuse nobody, but the writers themselves will ever be 100.

Maeee

Oooh u should also do Jimin’s Face album or the documentary of how it came to be whenever y’all get the chance. The album itself is super short, with 6 songs plus a hidden track! (And y’all have already listened to set me free and Like crazy)

Lief

In 2017 he came up with "Real Me" as a new meaning to his name. But honestly since 2018 he nor the boys has used or mentioned "Real Me" ever again. He just says RM.

Ana

I don't think of BTS music as being Disney. I think as BTS they have this message they are trying to give. To spread positivity and to love yourself. South Korea is a very judgmental place. So many celebrities kill themselves over there at a crazy rate. So a lot of the time Celebrities have to maintain and image because of how Korean society works. Things like PDA is even frowned on. So for the sake of their mental health a lot of celebrities try to keep a clean image. Also the Korean fans are very intense and controlling. It's scary sometimes how far they go for people they love or hate. So sometimes it has to do with culture. Where being free and doing you is more celebrated in America. In Korea it is not. You follow the rules and stay in your place. A lot of BTS music speaks out against this sort of thinking. With their solo work they are able to express themselves and show us the other sides to them. But yeah alot of stuff could be considered "Disney" in Korea because that's just how the country is. It's getting better now. Still not where it needs to be. We recently lost a K-pop idol. Sadly he took his life. RIP Moonbin. Another K-pop star a girl. I don't remember her name. But she was bullied so bad for something so small she ended up taking her life. So yeah it's tough being a celebrity in Korea they expect them all to be perfect. They are scared to openly dare because it can ruin their careers in Korea. This is not just a BTS thing but an every celebrity thing. Actors, singers, athletes. It's so sad

VancityGal

Him and Jimin, yes. But, of course, when he is the leader and one of the main reasons for all of BTS's success, jealous people will target him first.

VancityGal

I agree. Planning to get a record player and play this, indigo, and Layover on repeat!

Ana

A part from the article: In December 2017, superstar Kim Jong-hyun, better known as Jonghyun, took his own life at the age of 27. Two years later K-pop singer Sulli, formerly of the band f(x), was found dead at her home at the age of 25 in an apparent suicide. Around six weeks later, fellow K-pop artist Goo Hara, formerly a member of girl band Kara, was found dead at 28. Police would not comment on a cause of death, but Goo previously revealed she was suffering from depression. And in April this year, K-pop fans around the world were left heartbroken by the loss of Moon Bin, a member of the popular boy band Astro, at the age of 25. K-pop idols in particular are known to be subject to intense scrutiny and high expectations from their strict management, which has been linked to a mental health crisis in the industry. For years it was not uncommon for K-pop stars to be expected not to have relationships, with some even having a “no dating” clause in their contracts. “Scandals involving drinking, drugs, or even dating not only make waves in the entertainment news section but also the finance news section because many of the biggest Korean music management companies are also publicly traded stocks on the Korean stock exchange,” music industry executive Bernie Cho told CNN in 2018 when two major stars of the time confirmed they were dating. Attitudes toward dating have slowly begun to change, in part because fans have become more willing to accept relationships between stars. But South Korea’s entertainment industry remains a high-pressure environment with intense training regimens and expectations from fans and industry power brokers alike.

Ana

Super crazy. South Korea has one of the highest suicide rates

Jodys Corner

I get it. You think I mean "Disney" like a kids cartoon. I mean Disney as a company and how they have strict "PC" rules.

Lief

There's a corporate controversy going on, and just saying but that controversy has nothing to do if they're good people or not. And honestly all I care about is if BTS are good and taken care of, and I think they are.

Jodys Corner

Also, Disney only does deals with clean image people. As soon as they get dirt, they get ditched. Ala Jonathan Majors.

Ana

Alone is my favorite song. It breaks my heart everytime I hear it. I relate to it a lot

Jodys Corner

I feel you amanda. But lets be honest. They dont show sex, JK got hate for seven days a week, their videos are tame. No drugs, sex, provacative nature, death, bullying, or ANY content that would be considered "shocking" i love them for who they ARE, not for what they aren't. BTS doesnt have to be tough, or hardcore or rated "R"

Jodys Corner

I thought about that Linda, but the fact he said "guy" makes it more personal than the government. Usually the government is a "they" or "them." The fact he said "A guy" makes me think it's himself or the BigBoss

Jodys Corner

I swear, you can tell Suga is fed up too! Just off of that Haegum heat!

.

See even with “pc rules” I disagree bc they hardly follow those either unless they’re in a professional setting but most ppl are pc in those type of settings anyway. Jin and Jimin are really the only ones that stick to the whole being pc thing the other members are pretty unfiltered tbh

Jodys Corner

Makes sense now after 2018 it stopped. He knew he wasnt truly being "real me" or he tried briefly, but found out he couldn't

Jodys Corner

A lot was edited out of that video. They didnt show us the real.

Jodys Corner

I wanna do everyone! RM makes it easier because its in english...

.

I’m curious what pc rules do you think they follow?

Lief

"I'm always the breadwinner for a guy I don't like" was a mistranslation guys, in the official MV the lyrics are "When I see someone I don't like, I go bangsang bangsang" (빵상/bbangsang’ comes from a Korean meme and is meant to be a form of alien speech but is understood as gibberish. ) They make these lyric videos with google translate, so the translations arent accurate. But it's good enough to get the gist of it, so it's good you pulled up these lyric videos. Just keep in mind it's not fully correct.

Lief

Also for your perspective: in the "thanks to" note of his album, RM firstly wrote thank you to BigHit and HYBE for their support. So that tells you enough. It's really useless to worry about the relationship with the company. Because they chose to sign a new contract anyways. RM and BTS are under the only independent sub-label, and they are all shareholders of the company.

Lief

You can go check the lyrics in the official MV

Lief

I don't say or mean that I like the company. I just literally mean that it's useless to worry about. Because BTS are now men that can't just be walked over, they know their business, their influence and their rights. And it's not a coincidence that BigHit is the only independent sub-label under HYBE. That's because BTS can demand what they want.

Lief

Figgy

It was some pretty crazy shit that she did, glad HYBE managed to get the transcripts etc. Suspicious too that she won’t hand over her laptop as well. Trouble with playing with magic is every religion has a form of Karma embedded in its core. Think her’s is now happening. I feel for New Jeans though, really liked everything they’ve released and they’ve worked so hard. Has to be so upsetting for them, especially being so young

Figgy

Also that Bang Shiuk has retired, other than working with BTS, they have such a special relationship. He like either the 8th member or surrogate dad 💜 ( that is so not how his name is spelt 😂)

Lief

Except for in a joke, the boys wouldnt see him that way. It's not all rainbows and sunshine in a business relationship, but I think there's mutual respect and care that still exists after the 10 years.

Figgy

Ana think it’s factual that SK does have the highest suicide rate globally for young people 😢 I love that BTS has expressed so many times, also quite literally that they don’t mind walking through the shit if it means others don’t have to. Think they’ve had so much thrown at them over the years they’re almost immune now. Suga said that they’ve been asked why they are so nice to the younger groups and he replied someone has to be so why not them. Jody it would be great if you reacted to some more of their music. We can suggest tracks by BTS that speak out about society in Korea for you to listen to. But try the 2 below UGH - by BTS but performed by the rapline is solely about social bullying and this song is a banger with amazing bars, guaranteed you will love it. The explanation video by DKDKTV is recommended to go alongside as a lot of references to Korean culture that you won’t get but are really integral to the songs message. Eight - by IU and produced by Suga. IU was best friends with a female idol that took her life as well as good friends with Kim Jong-Hyun. It’s a beautiful song. She’s the singer who V teamed up with on Love Wins All. Again the explanation video for this is recommended as so many references in the music video that links in. Tip with the explanation video’s is they are only 10 mins long, the Korean guys speak in English so no closed captions. You can also speed them up so take less time 💜

Figgy

Gladeez send them over, I’m pretty sure the most popular tracks by BTS are the ones speaking out and hitting hard. Also the ones that are specific for supporting those that feel alone and need comfort. Both come under the original meaning of their name as well as the message they wanted to bring since day one.

April Forgue

RM album was mostly Korean. Jungkook album was only one full English. I hope you do Suga album next.

Amanda Michelle

I'm glad that you said that you "love them for who they are." I feel you...their "purity" is one of the reasons many Armies fell in love them because we were honestly sick of music that WAS all about sex and drugs, and the like. I just meant to say that they DO tackle harder subjects like social injustice, bullying, depression, death, etc. I think the most obvious thing they avoid as a group is sex, which to me is extremely refreshing because I know life is about so much more than that and I want to hear that in the music I listen to.

Gladeez (Gladys)

There’s been drugs and bullying in mv’s you just haven’t seen it yet, there’s been some sex references in songs you haven’t reacted to yet, and RM has a whole song about having sex with a woman, again I agree BTS doesn’t have a rated R image, they don’t need to, but I just wanted to point out y’all have barely scratched the surface with BTS music, they have well over 200, if not then over 300 songs in their discography now (this includes solo work) y’all have only done a tiny fraction 💜

Linda C.

True, unless it’s the president. Both of the last presidents were influential on what they got to do. I think he wrote it so we could interpret multiple options. I agree with your choices as well. I absolutely think it could be Hybe or himself or all three. I am leaning more to himself.

Linda C.

My friend worked at Disney when we were teens and when they started work, the Mgr would run their hand down their backs to make sure they were wearing a bra. Disney has always sucked about PC stuff.

Linda C.

Yes, and Baepsae for sure.

Linda C.

Omg. RM just dropped another video. Now we have Nuts and Groin 🤣

Jodys Corner

They hide their protest with art. Thats not the same as saying how you feel. They are using mataphors, images and art to get their feelings out, but like all other art, it CAN be translated wrong by many people who think it means something different. When you say how you feel, that CANNOT be misinterpreted as easily as a MV showing visual "clues" to how you feel.

Jodys Corner

They ferry tragedy video and commentary is a perfect example of why they're PC.

VancityGal

In some countries you face blacklisting or worse for speaking up on political or human rights issues. Sometimes things have to be done through symbolism and not said straight out or you risk your livelihood or even your life.

Bernadett

Jimin is incredibly popular. He is everywhere and posted about the most in all media, he sells anything he wears (the Enfants Riches Déprimés hoodie he wears in the Mini Moni Music video is totally sold out) so haters envy him and find him 'annoying' and his sweet personality seems to be an easy target. He is said to be the most feminin (not starting a debate here) and that's an easy target too. These boys have it hard from haters.

Figgy

Yeah you are right, there’s more than just sunshine and rainbows in any relationship whether personal or business. Obviously I was joking about 8th member or surrogate dad, just meant he’s been around since day 1 and watched them grow up. But he has definitely been a mentor to them, which they have said themselves in lives etc. It’s been explained that in other agencies, such as the big 3, Idols never get to see the CEO’s, almost all communication is via email or letter. So the fact they choose to get together with him outside of work and him being there on their enlistment days says a lot.

Bernadett

That's so true!!! I had not listened to the album when I watched the video with Jimin and I thought the second song was Groin... I'm sure they had a much deeper discussion than this or did not 'censor' themselves off camera.

K

How can you hate on any of them is the real question. Especially rm who dnt b doing nothing

Figgy

When you get time Jody maybe you could react to Road to D-Day on Disney. Suga takes you through the creative journey behind the album and he explains things about the tracks as well as performing some. Gave the album more depth when I heard it after watching this than prior too.

Figgy

I miss vinyl, got stacks of albums and no record player!

Linda C.

Mean people target nice people and perceive them as weak. I just got my RM album in the mail. Hitman Bang PD is named as Chief Producer of the album. That makes me think you were spot on with the Breadwinner being RM himself.

Linda C.

Me too. I don’t believe the flowers were initiated by only army, but by fans who were funded by MHJ. The flower order was initiated too soon and the order was for 30, which the city had not responded about how many they could have yet. Only 20 people showed up to the actual protest, the rest were media. MHJ fooled a lot of people, including the parents of those girls. The shaman part is just icing on the cake. Lots of cultures have shamans, but after reading the texts, that one is a con artist.

.

I’d still argue that makes them not pc. Opposing their government and society is something that can very easily get them black listed and yet they’ve done it multiple times in their music. There definitely are limits to what they can say and do but the fact that they push those limits makes them not pc to me. I think you have to look at it through a lens of where they’re from not through an American lens. I wonder how yalls opinion will change once you’ve had to the chance to see/hear more from them

I haven’t had a turntable in years. I’m not sure what to get but I’m not going to spend a lot of money. I figure technology has improved so much, it will sound better than anything I had before. It helps to know that my first album was an 8 track 😁

Linda C.

Well that changes everything. Did you check the Doolset translation?

I think that’s what makes their word play so clever. With a lot of their songs they totally get the point across without having to resort to blatant use of language, which anybody could do. That’s art ✍️ Also they can’t cover drugs, big no no in SK ‘Despite the reform, recreational cannabis remains strictly forbidden by the law. A violation is punishable by up to five years in prison or a fine of up to 50 million won, about $42,556 USD (as of November, 2021)’ That’s for just recreational use, for trafficking hard drugs its life. When I was younger they’d take your pot off you and get a slap on the wrist. They tackle bullying in lot’s of songs. Death has been covered, Spring Day obviously being one of them. Also provocative nature has been covered, have you not seen Suga twerk? 😂 I’m getting tired of some of the musicians today who just use shock tactics with swearing and sexual references in their songs, it’s almost like a competition now.

I just got mine and Bang was Chief Producer. IMO, it’s the people who were boycotting Hybe that are now dragging Bang with this issue, those people had to go somewhere. Every label in Korea would love to bring Hybe down and they have endless fandoms at their fingertips to do the dirty work.

When the last president took over the first thing he did was close the department that was dealing with women’s equality and also the one for disability rights, both of which are shocking compared to other countries. Then his wife gave a speech saying she won’t be getting involved in the politics and will stay at home like a good wife. It’s not as easy in SK as western countries to say what you want

VancityGal

Mine was a vinyl of Thriller. I wore that thing out. Played it everyday from the second I got home till it was time for bed. The problem was, I shared a room with my brother at the time. He was a fan too but not to the point where he wanted to listen every second on repeat. He lost it one day and threw the record against the wall and broke it. I still tell him he owes me a new copy. 🤣💜

Figgy

Could also be like ‘the man’ referring to people in power, so not singular?

Linda C.

During Festa when RM cried and talked about his issues a bit, the main thing he said is You have to trust us, and listen to what we say. Just trust us. Jimin said the same, adding that they can’t tell us everything, so we just have to trust and in Busan they said it again. I just try to remember that when the critics and the media start blasting them.

Figgy

That’s probably because they bid the most money. J-Hopes latest documentary was on Amazon Prime

Figgy

OMG me too! Mind you would cost a bit now for an original. Still have mine, but well worn

Figgy

I cried too watching RM, it was a hard watch, totally felt for them.

Drinking is definitely acceptable in SK. Officially the biggest selling spirit globally last year was a brand of Soju! Made me laugh when I read that

I don't think we know enough about their personal relationship to speak on it. The way I think: it's up to BTS to make their own business decisions, and I trust them in that. If they were to break up with the company I'd say it's also fair, and support that 100%. There's legit criticism for the company in recent years, but as long as BTS say they like the company, I'll back that up. And the facts and numbers add up that BTS is in a good position in the company. Feelings and personal relationships don't really mean much when it comes to business.

Lyrical explanation are from the old but gold bangtansubs.com !

I know, and were you so surprised, like we were expecting something else and then it started happening and we were like What’s going on, can’t compute!

Jodys Corner

@VancityGal..... thats the definition of "PC" lol. I get it though.

Jodys Corner

America represents freedom. SK is oppression. Effectively SK people are all considered PC. Or else....

Emm Cee

I am speaking on the "oppression as an artist," comment. A lot of the oppression isn't about the art, because for the most part, Big Hit allows them to do what they want artistically. It is oppression in South Korea, because SK is a very conservative society, that pressures idols to be perfect and what not. Even this album is banned from certain platforms there because of the profanity. You all should really check out RM's first mixtape. He cusses on there, and that was nine years ago. BTS and other artists over there are held to a ridiculous standard, and little by little RM is peeling that layer away. It may or may not be accepted there, but outside of SK, people love the vibes and what he has to say. I feel like when they all discharge, they may end up offending quite a few folks over there.

Amanda Michelle

Yes! They can't miss the "hidden track." The video performance of "Letter" / "Dear Army") is just too SWEET!!!

VancityGal

I'm about to listen to the album for the first time with you guys. Have heard only Come back to Me and Lost. Have been traveling and wanted to listen when my mind was fresh and ready. I'm watching with you cuz I know I'm gonna get a raw/ real reaction.

VancityGal

Okay, done now. I was with you on everything you said about RM and him voicing his truth. The more he says the more we get of the whole picture. I do agree with some of the comments that they were unhinged with how they spoke in their lyrics before the explosion of fame. That's part of the reason I fell in love with them. Since the gigantic fame there has been less of that and I miss it. I hope when they come back they come with a no fucks given attitude and get back to the Am I Wrong/ Baepsae vibe. Also on the "guy he hates" thing, I do agree that it could be himself or Bang PD but also could be the leader of Korea. The government tries to parade BTS around as their pride and joy but I'm sure there are a lot of things RM hates about Korean leadership and can't say it. I think at some point they said BTS represented 0.3 percent of Korea's entire GDP. Even while they're enlisted the government are using BTS as ads for enlistment. RM gave some speech in there that felt so wrong, like they forced him to say it. All of it is sickening to me but they have to smile and deal with it till they get out.
