Imagine Daemon who already knew he and Rhaenys should have attacked Vhagar since episode 1 and knew Otto wants Targaryen downfall since season 1 hearing Rhaenys died. If they did what he said they should, war would be over quickly

Rhaenys isn’t dumb, Jody. You guys seem to forget a lot of things that happen in the show. She coulda burned all of team green in the dragon pit and I’m willing to bet that she felt like she was the reason there was a war in the first place so she tried to end it. It’s not dumb for her to do her duty as a team black member and try to end the war. What’s running going to do? Aemond and Vhagar would still be alive and she had the opportunity to try and basically end the war. Aemond is the strongest force in the realm and has the biggest dragon. She wanted to take the chance of killing them both and ending the war right there. It’s funny how you call Rhaenys dumb but you won’t call the stupidest character in the show (Alicent) out on her bullshit.

3 hours is insanity lol I both loved and hated this episode. The fight was both epic and infuriating. I understand turning back to attempt to take out Aegon but after escaping with her life a 2nd time, she should’ve just called it a day lol. Cole is dope as a leader on the field but he still trash. Alicent out here drinking plan b and wrecking her son’s confidence, however wack he may be, if he’s still alive he’s gonna be a crippled wasted of a crown just like his father. Rheanyra is committed to war and it’s about time. Daemon is a fuckin useless waste of screen time, I DONT CARE ABOUT YOUR NIGHTMARES….DO SOMETHING!!!!! Aemond > Daemon. Really enjoying your discussions Jody, keep up the good work! However, I just want to point out that sometimes it feels like some of you are so eager to apply “logic” to dissect/talk about the show, without fully grasping what it is that you are actually watching (I don’t mean this as an insult) or a basic understanding of the world in which the characters operate in (regardless of if you have just watched the show or read the books). Just a few observations regarding some points brought up: Firstly, just so we don’t get bent out of shape regarding travel time and logistics, Driftmark (Seat of the Seasnake) to Dragonstone is 15 min tops on dragonback if we are cruising. Dragonstone to Rook’s Rest should be tops 45 min (it has been stated that Meleys is the fastest dragon in the realm, so they can probably do it in 30 min). King’s Landing to Rook’s Rest (both are in the Crownlands as has been stated several times; “they lie in the shadow of King’s Landing”) should maybe take 2 hours. They clearly show that Rhaenys arrives first, shortly followed by Aegon. Since we don’t know when during the day they left (but it is safe to assume that they did not leave at precisely the same time), it is plausible that they arrive roughly at the same time, assuming that Aegon leaves first – naturally, it makes it more dramatic, but we are not bending the space time continuum. Secondly, Rhaenys did not “runaway” because she was engaged in battle and had a clear goal: defend Rook’s Rest and kill ANY opposition that is trying to take it (she is well aware of the possibility of a run in with Vhagar, but the Black Council thinks she is guarding King’s Landing hence the trap). This is not a video game where you run in, do 50+ damage to the enemy, run away to drink health potions, then come back and do some more damage. The goal is very simple: the last dragon standing wins Rook’s Rest, and it is essential that Team Black does not lose it because that is their only foothold on mainland Westeros. So, Rhaenys decides that it is likely a suicide mission to try to kill Vhagar ( which is why she looks continuously sad after Vhagar shows up, however, she has one of the few dragons that would even remotely stand a chance as discussed with Daemon in E01), but if she kills Vhagar or significantly injure her, it is essentially game over for Team Green. It does not matter that Aegon is LIKELY dead, as long as there is a Targaryen on Team Green, and that Targaryen has Vhagar, the war continues - this is why she circles back to see if Vhagar is still injured on the ground. Thirdly, are some of you seriously suggesting that it is “impossible” to smuggle a dragon that can fly around a continent without anyone noticing? If the dragons are not in the Dragonpit (Vhagar is too large to even nest in King’s Landing) or on Dragonstone, it would be virtually impossible for someone to know where the dragons are – give me the cover of night, clouds, and forest I can smuggle Vhagar from King’s Landing to the Wall without anyone noticing. Looking forward to next week!

Point 1, I agree. But you are assuming to make the times make sense. Point 2, I disagree, in war retreat is sometimes necessary. Yiur making it seem tgat its always "all in" no matter what when it comes to dragon fights. That is too simple minded for a show like this. (No disrespect) and 3rd point, If that big dragon never gets caged because he is too big, I understand how he wouldnt be trackable. Thanks for your insight!

To be fair he doesn’t know the battle at rooks rest is taking place and that’s one of the reasons why he got into a fight with his wife he thinks she’s to soft like Viserys and doesn’t want that to be her doom like it was for Viserys and I agree with Daemon she should have acted the moment Luke died imo and yea I get you Jody so far taking harrenhal seems like a waste of time we’re just gonna have to wait and see the benefits of taking it later on. During his argument with Rhaenyra he says “ am I not on my way now to harrenhal to raise an army in your name Rhaenyra yours” I disagree with you that Daemon is in it for himself I genuinely believe he loves rhaenyra and Viserys and doesn’t want the throne he just fucking sucks at showing it or being vulnerable example him walking out to the sea depressed alone over his brothers and unborn child’s death at the very least listen to him when it comes to battle strategies.

I didn’t like how this fight ended… I don’t like how the biggest dragon is hiding behind the castle and she’s the size of the walls of storms end… that doesn’t make sense. I was loving it until that moment. In the books it was a true 2v1. She lurked aegon and almost beats Vhagar, her and her dragon have been to war against other dragons, the experience was showing when she went belly up and used Vhagars’ weight against her. She uses her and Maeleys’ experience to get the upper hand and they payed homage to that… then they ruined it with her making another lap. She dies in the same fight in the books but I would’ve liked her to die in a straight up clash. She’s heading home and got sneaked.

Jody I just figured it out rewatched the episode. the first council meeting aemond was there when the told them the plan about rooks rest. Then Daemond see the witch and drinks the tea and it’s the next day. The next council meeting where aegon says he’s bored Aemond isn’t there so that’s where I think he left that first night so he couldn’t be seen and was waiting in position for the signal

Harrenhal is cursed for sure. From reading the books its not clearly said why but its heavily hinted that the castle was built next to the isle of faces which is where the humans and the children of the forest made a peace treaty and the land was considered sacred to them. Hundreds of years passed and i guess people forgot the way of the old gods & built the harrenhal castle for 40 years. the moment it was completed aegon appeared and destroyed it and no one has kept the castle for very long ever sincd. Am not sure why daemon is seeing visions but i wont be surprised if its somehow connected to children of the forest. ( **this is not a spoiler the visions from daemon are not in the books so i have no idea where the writers are going with this )

Also while i do not think the episode is bad by any means. Its better than anything on tv. It bothers me when the writer makes characters do dumb stuff like rheanys turning back twice when she could have left. Or her not killing all the greens when she burst out of dragonpit. Or otto walking to dragonstone with peace treaty and still keeping his head. And i agree with you jody. Vhagar is way too big and slow to be doing sneak attacks. Even in the books the advantage smaller dragons have is their speed and mobility. Its like the writers dont know how to write that big dragon winning without acting like a ninja

A cool backstory for you Jody, Melys and vhagars previous riders where Baelon and Alyssa who are viserys and Deamons parents, the two parents where inseperable and so in love, and so their dragons where often together and grew close beacuse they where often out flying with their riders, and now vhagar killed melys the dragon he spent so much time with.. tragic story wished they added that backstory in the series somehow.

Yea that's a good point it wouldn't necessarily end the war completely but the greens rely so heavily on aemond and vhagar that them dying would significantly cripple the greens and possibly force them to surrender especially with aegon dead as well...they would have no heirs, 1 dragon who hasn't seen battle and their army wouldn't be enough cause with the death of vhagar more people would rally to the blacks.

Book readers please just remember, we are going off what the show is giving us and not what the books have given you. Even with that some of you have different interpretations of what happened. For this who are asking us to not talk……would it even be a reaction then? We missed something? How many time did you see Jody go back to make sure of what was heard? For me I understand Rheanys actions. I don't like it and it was filmed cheaply with the sneak attack again. But I feel she felt guilty for not having killed them all when she had the chance. So she decided she was all in. She saw Aegon fall and figured he was dead and if she killed Aemond the war would be over. That's why she kept going back, she wasn't going to leave again with ANYONE alive. She was going to kill them both or die trying.

We saw what Khalessi did to scorpions in Season 8 with 1 dragon. Rhaenyra has 5+ dragons and the greens only have 1 scorpion right now.
