hey Jody I think your the closest to reality in what the song is about, Yoongi wrote this song about his childhood best friend that did drugs and ended up in jail, Yoongi went to his trial and visited him in jail and even went to visit him after he was released and then his friend offered Yoongi drugs ! and that's where he (Yoongi) drew the line and now he's wondering 'if we remained friends would that have changed anything' this was Yoongies last performance before the military and he said 'the concert is the heart of performing' he also said in his live after this concert that he cried because his life flashed before his eyes ..... anyways this is a great song thanks for the reaction Borahae💜

Wow. Dang, he was hooked on drugs. Tbh, im glad he went to prison because it was a matter of time before his friend would have (tried) to get Yoongi hooked on drugs too. Yeah, looks like I was on point. Thank you for being an Elite patron! You a real one!

This a good one, Kion and Eman couldn’t have read the lyrics 😂😂 he literally talked about getting a call from his friends parents and going to see him in jail. He never mentioned a woman or anything that sounded like he talked about a woman 😂😂😂 and Daegu is his home town the DT in Agust D stands for Daegu town Jody, Respect for reading the words😂

Suga is so passionate in each and everyone of his songs and even the BTS songs that he wrote and produced you can really feel his pain in the lyrics and the way he puts it across. He is a master in the way he tells his truth through music. No one can tell a story through music like Suga can. Love this reaction JODY, you really took it in and read the lyrics.

I'm with Jody on this; I think it's about his friend- probably childhood friend since they're both from Daegu. As mentioned in the lyrics, it's his friend's mother who called him about his friend being detained. In Asian culture, we treat our friends like brothers or sisters, and our friends' mom as like aunts. There is a very strong sense of community, even with neighbors. In my opinion, since same-sex relationships are still taboo in Korea, it's unlikely that parents would accept or contact your lover, especially if it is something that they could not openly acknowledge. I, myself, lost a friend, and I cried bullets over him. Losing a friend can hurt even more than a lover or a sibling, because with real friend, you can truly be yourself without a fear of judgment, he or she becomes a part of you. I still regret not being there when my friend needed me- it's a pain that stays with you. Thank you, Jody for intently paying attention to Yoongi's lyrics. I might not agree with E-man's opinion but he still shows respect to Yoongi.

As Sherifa mentioned, this was the last day of his tour, and I saw the live where he did say that he saw his life and memories flash before his. He sang this song during his other tour dates and never cried except for this one.

Yoongi here is raping about his best friend who has turned to drugs (assumption) or definitely some illegal stuff that landed the friend in jail. In Asian culture friends are like brothers or sisters. You go to each other home, most of the time you might live closer to each other and your parents will be friends. Even if that is not the case, the parents of the friends are treated like our aunts and uncles. He was close to his friend and they dreamed of making it big in Seoul as musicians but at some point he fell out of touch with his friend. One day he gets a call from an unknown number and it turns out to be his friend's mother informing him that his friend is in the Seoul detention center. So he travelled to this Seoul detention center in the hope of reconnecting with his friend but soon realizes the friend has changed. The friend asked him whether Yoongi wants to try the stuff which made him cuss at his friend. His friend has turned into something he doesn't know and hence Yoongi had to leave that friendship. The 'I miss you and I hate you' could be Yoongi saying that he misses the friend he had while they were young and dreaming, but hate the person that friend has become now.
