I was 100% going to give this to ELITE because of some of the things we say, but not giving the album reaction to the Star 3 tier wouldn't be right in my eyes. Please bring your honest opinions and critiques. Be mindful.

Into the sun is actually hot garbage what is that autotune it's so horrible and the hooligan like bruh pots and pans and army are saying ts is good the only thing good is the body to body vocals and and the aririang culture sample at the end which isn't even a part that bts sings somehow outshined the album. Very disappointed I've liked every album except this one smh 😭

nix

you guys probably should've watched it on YouTube even if you didn't care about the lyrics because at least you could've seen who was singing/rapping which parts. you guys were saying RM when it was V, RM when it was j-hope, jin when it was jimin, jungkook when it was V, jin when it was V, etc. 😅

Kimberley

I agree It's rushed we all know it's rushed i don't think all the songs are trash they're not the best they could have been better. I think that they were uncomfortable with the amount of English being used because the pronunciation, they felt uncomfortable. I watched your reaction to the documentary, Suga mentioned being authentic. Jody, you said, that's an interesting word to use and I agree, because I don't think they were being they're authentic selves and it's not their fault I don't think they were allowed to be , even though they're the reason that all those people work at Hybe we all know they're not in full control, I'll say it again, Bang PD is a piece of shit. I think what eventually is going to happen, I'm calling it now is they'll stay together as a group, but try to create their own company. I can see that happening in the next 2 years. The only problem is Bang PD probably owns the name. Other groups have left their companies and they were able to keep their name They bought their name like got 7 left jyp and he sold the the rights to them and then they created their own company where they were all owners of it. I would love if they did that, I could see eventually Jin or suga being more involved in being the higher ups of a company. As an army, I support them, I love all of them, but it's okay to admit that it's not their best album. There are songs that I like ,but it didn't sound like them and it's not because I want that to sound like they did when they were 20, I'm not naive or stupid, they're 30 year olds, I'm not one of those delusional armies. I hope in the future they keep working with producers like pdogg that you see in the documentary, he's been around from the very beginning since they were trainees he's key to their music and writing. I think they need to keep some of those people around for it to sound authentically them.

personally, i really liked the album. i'm a person who enjoys a LOT of different genres of music in general. i enjoy the juxtaposition of the vocal lines parts on songs like hooligan, actually. it's an experimental song (for bts, at least) so they definitely took a risk with it and there are mixed opinions about it but i like it personally. the only part of the album that i didn't like when i first heard it and still don't like now is the vocoder (that vocal effect) on into the sun. just not my sound at all. people have been really weird about the first half of the album in general (not talking about you guys), claiming that they're confused about why bts would go that route but these people are forgetting that bts started as a hiphop focused group and that the rap line (rm, suga, jhope) were the backbone of the songwriting and production side of things. bts choosing these sounds in the beginning of the album but trying to make it a bit more experimental and new was not surprising to me at all, in fact i expected it. a lot of people's criticism about the album isn't even coming from a place of genuine criticism (again, not talking about you guys), it's mostly kpop fans and "armys" who are clinging onto bts' 2015-2019 eras and expecting bts to make the same music that they were making 10 years ago which just isn't realistic. kpop fans hated songs like black swan, dynamite, etc. when they first released but now that arirang is out the same kpop stans are begging bts to go back to that sound💀. considering the amount of time they had and the pressure they were under, i think the album is actually solid. it's rushed and we all saw that in the documentary. to begin production on an album from scratch and then be expected to release it 9 months later is insane. with how awaited the comeback was, they were never going to live up to the expectation of it. especially with kpop fans: literally anything bts does always becomes a problem to them.

Chia Sano

I personally believe too many producers were involved in this project and they were all producers with connections with Bang or the Company. The idea was to bring in western producers to help BTS's return be more global than just kpop and their fans. I did not believe the album was a failure but it was rushed and experimental and reflective of alot of cooks in the kitchen. The members were allowed to contribute some lyrics and give feedback on what they really didn't like but this album if you look at all the producers and writers in the credits was not as close to home as I think most of us who enjoy their music know they can do. Now that it is done, however, I hope they can exhale and work on a project with time to breathe. I did not hate the album, like I said most people were able to like between 2-7 songs on the album at the least (like you liked 5) and some loved the whole thing. I appreciate this album/project because of what it is and what it represents as a stepping stone in this new era of their career. I know their fans including you guys are still going to support them and watch to see where they go next.

Xoxoree

I will say that I do feel like the album was rushed and too many people had there hands in it. However after like my 3rd listen the first half grew on me, but the second half was definitely the better half of the album with Normal being my favorite song. I also recently found out that the old sounding voice at the beginning of they don’t know bout us is Jimin which is kinda neat

Laurynn Coleman

Lol pots and pans 😂 I just think everyone has a wide variety of music taste. I like the songs you mentioned but it’s definitely not for mass audiences. Maybe I’m odd but I like this whole album. I wasn’t a fan of the dynamite, butter, ptd tracks but they did so well. We as a fan base really have diverse tastes I’m noticing. It’s kind of cool we get to explore that with them.

Aurora

Its a mid album, not appealing to nonfans like me

Jaxyn

It was definitely rushed they said it in the documentary. They will never please everyone. Some of my favorite tracks are: Body to body Swim Hooligan Normal (favorite) Like animals 2.0 Please They don’t know about us

Jodys Corner

Hooligan and 2.0 were tough sells for me. The beats bang though

Jaxyn

Honestly I wasn’t sold on them after one or two listens I had to listen to hooligan, 2.0. and swim multiple times before I added to my favorites. They had to grow on me.

Jodys Corner

Definitley agree with what you said about suga and V. Thank you for your sorrow for my dearly departed.... I feel bad for RM. He had a lot of pressure on him. It seemed like he was doing most of the work and planning and Quality control. Without RM, this album would have been much worse.

Jodys Corner

Yeah, Non-fans will NOT be impressed at all. I would NEVER show this album to a non fan to introduce them to what BTS can do.

Jodys Corner

100% agree. Except, do yiu think BTS didnt have the creative control we believed they had? Do you think big bang/the company had too much control and input?

Jodys Corner

So there are Army's who are giving critique to the album? Im shocked! Yeah, I think they just needed to get this first nut off so whem round 2 comes they will kill it again! I am very much anticipated to hear their next album, which will have more fire!

Chia Sano

I think BTS don't yet feel entirely confident in taking the control they have. Just from the documentary and the interviews...this was probably not the same album we would have gotten if it was just them doing all the production and songwriting. They had to work with too many new people, if that makes sense? Diplo got involved because of a connection to Bang, the company has a creative direction team pitching ideas. I think they had some creative license with strong suggestions and recommendations from the company but I do not believe they had true artistic freedom. Even having Jin involved early in on the project would have also shaped things a bit more. I think they made the best with what they had but I do not think they had full control. They had business agreements to fulfil.

Chia Sano

We have seen too much evidence at the quality in their their solo and self-production work to truely believe this album had the same energy. Also so many producers and song writers who are not BTS have been on socials getting industry clout for their contributions to the album in a way that makes me feel this album was way more beneficial to them from a business networking perspective. But that is the industry.

Chia Sano

Keep in mind, I am someone who enjoyed this album but it is because I understand what and why it is. It doesn't mean that it is beyond critique and analysis. I

nix

i'd say the majority of armys are enjoying the album but there are certain demographics who ain't fw it. armys who are also kpop fans are the main ones who have been hating which doesn't really make sense bc some of those kpop groups be making worse music💀. on tiktok when the album first came out there were kpop stan armys who were critiquing and/or hating on the album. however, on twitter everyone was loving it from the jump. so it really depends. a small part of armys didn't like it at all, another small part didn't like it at first and then it grew on them but MOST opinions have been largely positive about most of the songs. the biggest criticism kpop fans had was that the music is "too westernised" but that criticism doesn't make any sense for multiple reasons but i won't get into that bc i'll be talking for hours lmao. and i totally agree with you on that last part! even tho i liked this album personally, i know that their next project will be even better bc they'll actually have a reasonable time frame to prepare it all and they'll be fresh off a world tour meaning they'll be re-acclimatised to making music and performing. the 9 month deadline for arirang was totally insane.

Chlo

@JODY 100%, they desperately wanted to release something/anything for ARMY because they've been gone for some time. Me too i'm looking forward to what they got to come next!

Melissa Fermin

I appreciate both your takes on the album. I love most of it but I also think it’s important to hear other views. Regardless if it aligns with each other. My condolences on the loss of your daughter and your pup. I can’t even fathom losing a child. I also understand the pain of losing a beloved pet. For many pets are a part of the family and the loss is just as painful. Anyway, thanks again for great content!

Chlo

One of my favourite parts is in Normal and it's V's verse for the pre- choruses. When he sings; "got me feeling things unusual and I live them all". The way he sings it is so so good, it shows how much he's improved. His voice really suits it. Also the song overall is a vibe and the lyrics are so genuine and easy to relate to.

Chlo

So sorry to hear about your daughter and your dog Jody, sending lots of love. I am not a parent so I can't begin to comprehend what it's like to lose a child. I can relate to losing a dog though and it was one of the most gut wrenching things i've ever had to go through, she was a big part of our family.

Chia Sano

I can see that as well. I just think I will firmly have the opinion corporate influence played a huge part in the album, but that is not bad. I am glad they did this because they do need to learn how to move and negotiate and lead in this new chapter and I think we are going to see some amazing continued growth.

Chia Sano

Also, I didn't want to put my condolences on a post about 7 different men. My prayers and deepest sympathies.

Chlo

I don't like the auto-tune and distortion on 'Into the sun', I just want to hear their voices clearly. Also the beginning of the song reminds me of 'FourFiveSeconds' by Rihanna & Kanye West. Overall, 'Into the sun' makes for a good ending song at a concert, it's a feel-good vibey song to finsih things off.

Chlo

Appreciate the honesty from you guys. That's what we need to stay sane in this fandom.

Aicha Karamoko

I really love the album personally, Alien, normal, 2.0 , body to body, swim are my favorite 💜🔥

Jodys Corner

I feel you, it kinda gets distored at high volumes when I hear it in my car.

Jodys Corner

Yeah, NGL, V had a glow up over the last couple of years. From his body transformation, then his other body transformation, to him having full control of his voice. He even seems to be more comfortable with high notes too

Jodys Corner

I feel you the "too westernized" critique. Like bruh, that's where KPOP got it from! TF? So there are army's who like ONLY BTS and Army's who like BTS AND other kpop groups? Got it! Makes sense. TBH, I trust the ARMY that are well verse in OTHER kpop music as well, not JUST BTS.

Boldenb

This album was mid when I 1st listened to it but I only liked 3 songs but after 3 listens that number went from 3-5 songs

nix

yeah, the thing is that most armys who only listen to bts also listen to other artists in general, not just kpop artists. so bts is the only "kpop" group they listen to but not the only artist they listen to overall. for example, i listen to bts and ateez but other than that all my other music is non-kpop music. a lot of army kpop fans ONLY listen to kpop which is why they make dumb criticisms like "too westernised".

Jodys Corner

@Nix. Understood. Yeah, that's how you get a cult-like mindset and explains why some army are delusional af.

Jodys Corner

@betty i can tell youre a hard core BTS fan. Respect for acknowledging your bias.

.

I made sure to listen to this album before looking at any feedback on it so I could form an authentic opinion and I absolutely loved it. hooligan and one more night took a minute to grow on me but overall I thought it was a really good album. imagine my shock seeing all the controversy about the album lmaoooo. I even loved the little vocoder voice affect on into the sun. I definitely see y this alum wasn't for everyone tho.

.

okay back finishing the rest of the video. hooligan beat is chopped and screwed hence the lyric "dropping lower than chopped and screwed" I forget not everybody is from Houston lol. I think that song was perfect. the laughing part had to grow on me but I didnt feel like the vocal like was misplaced or anything. overall I enjoyed yalls feedback. I've liked seeing the diff ranges of opinions on this album. one thing I've learned though is im glad nobody reacting to arirang was in charge of the album lmfaoooooo everybody wants to get rid of the most musically interesting bits

.

okay one more lol. I think if you guys didn't really enjoy this then you probably wouldn't enjoy early bts albums either(their best work imo). y'all seem more into their bright pop stuff so if you plan on listening to their past albums id say maybe start at wings or hyyh

Purple Hearts

I Irespect you guys opinion I’m from Atlanta and I’m black and when I first heard that the album tbh I wasn’t feeling it, but I think you guys should give it another listen with the lyrics after I put the lyrics with the beats and stuff l liked it a little bit but I still agree I just wasn’t feeling that the album I think they were trying to go with something a little different and it’s just not the bts that we used to. But the lyrics, kind of explain more where they were trying to go with it.

K

Honestly, I respect everyone’s opinion about the album me personally I loved it first listen even though it was rushed, they still did amazing in my opinion. But I feel like a lot of songs just have to grow on people. Everyone has different taste of music. Everyone isn’t gonna like the album and that’s OK.

Jodys Corner

Im sure It will grow on me, but I still think they're better than Arirang

Purple Hearts

I agree I’m just saying that it hits a little different when you match it with the lyrics that’s all. I still don’t think that that’s their best either they can do better.

Purple Hearts

Like some of the rap parts if you listen to the lyrics, they really have bars for real

Purple Hearts

I’m not gonna hold you it’s sum of those songs that are complete garbage that y’all don’t have to listen to, but like the first first couple songs I think y’all should go back and look at the lyrics

Meelet

Finally watched this video. First time hearing the album. I was an army 2020-2025 but I have to say this was bts’s worst project ever. Honestly. And I thought the album before this could’ve been better. But listening to this makes me realize those were good. I feel like they were lazy with this. Probably rushing to put something out:/
