Hello all, especially the new all that just learned about this project from YouTube.

I finally put out an announcement video for the YouTube crowd that still gets notified on my updates, and in doing so, I've realized something about the distribution method I've been going about for the book.

It's flawed. It's a bad business idea that isn't good for growing interest.

What I'm basically doing right now is trying to get people to invest in a project they can only use a handful of out of context excerpts and my reputation to go off of to tell if they'd enjoy it or not. Many people in the comments said they weren't willing to join a monthly subscription thing to read the book once, but were interested in reading it, and even paying for it.

So I'm going to give out a version of the book for free as a sort of trial version people can sample and see if they enjoy. It'd be on Gumroad and have pay-what-you-want pricing so if they feel like supporting in a non-monthly way, they can. The only question is, how exactly to go about doing that.

I have a version that contains the first six chapters, which I think is a good amount to wet someone's appetite and get them interested in reading more. However, I've been considering other options, like releasing chapters on a monthly basis. There's also the nuclear option of just putting the whole thing out and let it build traction that way.

I'm not sure what option I'll take, but a free, public version of some kind will be released sometime next week. If it ends up being the whole thing, I'll be moving each of the reward tiers (outside of the $5000 one) down one level to compensate you brave souls who jumped into the pool only on my promise that there aren't any sharks in it.

If you like any of those other options and think they'd work better, or have some other idea, let me know in a comment.

The other thing I wanted to bring up is the development of future volumes. Namely, volume 2, and when I'd start working on it.

I want to start working on it now.

You can not understand how badly I want to get to putting the new characters and interactions between existing characters to paper, and introduce you to the rest of this insane world. Like, there are more demons to meet, more of Nick's co-workers to learn about, and also there might be a third race that's coming to ruin everything. I'm excited. I want you to be excited too, but I'm excited first.

That being said, I still haven't implemented any of the feedback I've gotten from anyone I've shown this to, and people are just now getting a hold of the book, so I'm not sure if that would be getting too far ahead of myself. That also begs the question, when do I actually think I'm going to call this finished? Am I going to wait until maybe next year to make this public when I finally have the funds for art and said art is complete? Or should I just put it out with placeholder images and release some kind of complete edition once the art is done? Or do I just keep writing volumes and putting them up here while retooling volumes and waiting on art to be finished before the full thing goes public?

That one might be it. I'm not sure.

Let me know what you guys think. Leave a comment with any ideas I've stated that you like and any I didn't think of that you think might work. Also, I'm probably going to be putting up a poll $5 donors and above can access that has some questions about your first impressions before I put out another one next week asking broader questions about the book as a whole.

And of course, thanks a bundle for being the first few schmucks to believe in this project.
