Dillon leeming

This is just one of my favourite pieces of television I've ever seen. Thorfinns first kill is desperate and just the first step to a life he wasn't meant for. The whole sequence with the woman and her daughter is so good, how kind she is to a stranger one she probably knows is a danger to her and she helps anyway and it blows up in her face. All for revenge. And it's a little scary how quickly hes becomes accustomed to violence and uses it to solve his problems, he was fully ready to kill that soldier when they first met him. The sigh is heartbreaking, just shoves it all down and runs off witht them. My boy also has absolutely no table manners

Dillon leeming

They are both massive dickheads to be fair , so it kinda fits

Don Ratto

the sequence with the motherly lady on the beach is one of the early scenes from this show where it really starts to show the type of writing its capable of. insanely good show

At this point, it's intriguing to consider Thorfinn's motives regarding guilt and shame. He was held captive, which led sadly to Thors' sacrifice and now it seems like he's trying to eliminate the weakness within himself... the very thing that triggered that moment. He's on a quest to prove himself, but the only one judging him is a man he despises, who sets all the standards. The phrase "accomplish something great on the battlefield" by Askeladd is deliberately vague, designed to keep Thorfinn endlessly chasing after something unattainable. Thorfinn always gives it his all, yet he's constantly told he's not good enough. 👎🏻 However, there are moments like the one with the old woman. 👵🛏️🍞🥣🧼 She provided him with food, shelter, clothing, hygiene, and basic respect; all things that should have been an upgrade from the life Thorfinn has been living. But his feelings are mostly guilt and shame, so it almost seems like he wouldn't even think to accept this comfort and ease. 🙅🏼‍♂️ He feels that he hasn't proven anything yet, he hasn't earned it. Then he signals the beginning of their village's destruction. 🏘🔥 How much guilt and shame should Thorfinn carry for that? Overall, it feels like he's trying to earn the right to experience warmth and comfort again. If he kills Askeladd and completes his mission, only then can he return home. But through this woman, we can question what his mother would think of him if he comes back after all this... irreparably transformed into someone who doesn't know how to appreciate the care of another. After this woman washes and brushes his hair, the first thing Thorfinn does is stain it with blood. And the final shot of the episode is a broken comb, lying in the dirt. 💇🏼‍♂️🩸💔

It's never confirmed or mentioned again, but I do think and I've seen others say it too. But I kinda think thorfinn may have killed the lady's husbands and that girls dad . I think he might have been one of the 2 in the woods

I really love that scene at the very end where he takes a deep breath and supress his feelings, and then him running with the other vikings makes him unreconizable from the rest, he fades in the crowd like he is no different from them, they all made the choice of that life at some point

The one english word he knows is "Run"....... , it implys alot

LOVE this episode! definitely my favorite episode out of what you have watched so far. the latter half of the ep is so devastating. Thorfinn's deep breath and exhale at the end of the episode honestly broke my heart.
