this is such an interesting episode. i love how the teen in the village being so excited to go is a almost a parallel to how Ari was in Thor's village and how eager he was to go to war. i also was hoping you'd see the parallels between Kenny for AoT and Askeladd. Great series that gets so much love but not enough attention

yeah the idea is that askeladd has been using him and will continue to by letting him live. when he told gorm that he just doesn’t know how to use the girl right, it was in direct relation to thorfinn. he figured out how to convince thorfinn, the child of the man he killed, to do his killing for him. he’s making the point that if done correctly, you can make use of anyone. i do agree he has some sort of warped affection or soft spot for thorfinn, and i think it’s even out of some form of guilt or unsatisfaction with himself by killing thors the way he did. also, don’t underestimate askeladd. without the mind games, i think it’s def possible he could’ve killed askeladd, but askeladd is very strong, so i don’t think it was a given that thorfinn was stronger in that fight. another great reaction, can’t wait for you to see more

Yeah I totally understand the confusion between the looks of Askeladd, Thorkell and Floki. On my first watch I had to differentiate them as "Daddy, the tall one and Squarehead" (Don't ask)

An episode that resembles AoT. "Everyone is a slave to something." "What lies beyond the sea?" As you know, Isayama is a huge fan of Vinland Saga. He read it during his high school years. It wouldn't be surprising if he drew some inspiration directly from Vinland Saga, which was created earlier. As others have pointed out, Kenny appears to be a clear inspiration from Askeladd. Both share a similar mindset, as they take in and mentor a "brat" like Levi and Thorfinn. I know you want to avoid mentioning AoT to fully honor Vinland Saga, but some comparisons will be unavoidable haha. I'm glad that you appreciate the music too, the soundracks in this anime are in the next level. 🎻🪉🎚️ Side note: please do not validate or contradict any of Sophie's theories, it's much more fun for her and her viewers. 🙏
