And now we've met the absolute menace that is thorkell the tall. Another amazing fight my boy Levi'd the shit out of him but he got hurt again . I hurt to watch him pop his own shoulder back and keep marching. But the last line is hopeful. What is so fun about battle ?. I do like them adding real history in , like thorkell is based on a real dude same guy Duncan the tall from those dunk and egg books . And yet a third edit, how far has our boy come , he fought so tactically didn't lose his head almost got him

12.27 aura farming thorfinn has been unleashed and if thorfinn could stop getting adopted by monsters that'd be great

One thing that I like about vinland saga is that it has a semi-legendary aspect to its story telling, such as Thorfinn jumping such a long distance across the moat in episode 7, or Thorkell throwing boulders and trees, or with how tall Thorkell is. In vinland saga, Thorkell is 230cm tall (according to the official guidebook), however, we don't know just how tall the real life Thorkell was, as he was only described as "the tallest of men". It's like, vinland saga feels realistic overall, but there are several feats or other things that almost feel like the slightly exaggerated version of history you get from oral history.

Thorkell was the guy fighting alongside Thors at the beginning of episode 1.

answering phone sophie is the premium content we pay for on petreon! i love thorkell so much, its so bold of the author to make a character who lives by the exact opposite themes of the story to be so damn cool and fun.

I don't think Thorfinn has enjoyed or admired war and fighting since his father died. Honorable revenge has just been his obsession, and the path to achieve that, has been through battles. Askeladd knows this and takes advantage of the situation, because almost every outcome is beneficial for him, when he can dictate when to accept the duels.

The only part I'd argue with is calling thorkell soft 😅. Think I get what you're trying to say though, he has heart and spirit in abundance! Definitely a fav

Exactly! I've seen some people complain that this show is grounded but has feats of strength and ability that 'take them out of it' but I believe it's supposed to mimic how the Vikings themselves wrote their Sagas. I mean in episode 3 Thors literally had the rowing strength of 5 men. That sounds exactly like something you'd find in one of the Sagas. The whole series has this 'amplified history' feel to it that for me makes it feel more authentic not less. Like this is how the Vikings would of told this story in their time.

Oh shit I should have cut that 🙈 My manager was ringing me as I finished work early so I was like OOP. Just had to go back and watch to make sure I hadn't doxxed myself but thankfully not haha!

Poor Thorkell, first mistaken for Floki and then for Askeladd 🤭

I was a bit startled and then somewhat anxious, thinking it might be an important phone call. 📞
