Happy Halloween!!

I've always been open and honest when it comes to my mental health so I don't want to start feeling as if I need to hide how I'm feeling / the vulnerability that comes with being a content creator. Whilst I value you all and the community we've created - I will admit that I struggle at times with reading the comment section. Detecting tone and intent is something I struggle with and being bombarded with comments correcting me or telling me I'm wrong can be overwhelming and exhausting. I know that people mostly are just wanting to hear me expand on my thoughts or engage in a discussion or even be helpful. That there is no malice but it can be difficult to not beat myself up about it. I put a lot of pressure on myself to analyse these shows and to be accurate so when I miss something or I don't click onto what others do - I berate myself and see it as me having failed. I have always suffered with anxiety and perfectionism which manifests into spiralling behaviour at times if I feel I have disappointed or upset people with my thoughts or opinions or theories in relation to the shows I watch. I often ask myself if content creation is the right place for me due to being so sensitive. I love what I do but it can be difficult to motivate yourself and engage when you feel anxiety at the idea of people disliking you or thinking you're incompetent for not catching something that they did / being wrong in your interpretation. I am aware that most of this comes from my own high expectations of myself and the fear of letting people down, and that this is something I need to work on. My way of doing this is taking a temporary step back from the comment sections so that I can focus on myself and the content first and foremost. For anyone reading this PLEASE do not stop posting comments or feel that you have to stop. I want you all to engage with the videos and with each other. I also want to be able to read these comments when I get myself back into a spot where I can handle it better. The love and kindness I have received from you all far outweighs any negatives that come with putting myself out there on the internet. I truly do value each and every person that has been with me on this journey so far. I am not looking for sympathy but more just want to be open with you all in case you notice that I am less active in the comment sections than I usually am. It is a temporary step back. Please know that I do appreciate each and every comment, and as I said please continue to leave comments on my videos because I will get back to them and my mods do often share kind comments with me directly! Thank you for taking the time to read and I love you all 💕

you are by far one of the most emotionally intelligent reactors when it comes to understanding the characters in the shows you’re watching. many people (stupid people) expect reactors to understand everything perfectly the first time watching and that’s so unrealistic. you’re great and super entertaining, don’t forget that❤️

delle

i relate a LOT to this, especially the part about having such high expectations of yourself that any time you're not perfect it causes anxiety and spiraling out of a fear that others will dislike you or see you as incompetent. it's so hard to shake those feelings, even when you know it doesn't work like that. wishing you all the best!

Oh. I’m sorry that this is how you feel right now. I love your videos and I love hearing your thoughts and theories. I want you to know that when I’m correcting you (so to speak) it’s just so you wouldn’t need to double check previous episodes. But if it makes you uncomfortable then I won’t do this again. I can’t talk about intentions or plans of others though. Still, I’m sure that they are driven by a similar thing. Hope to see you in the comments again soon. And I hope that you would feel much at ease and peaceful even when facing unpleasant things. 🍀🙏🏻💚

No honestly it's never an issue! I love your comments and appreciate them a lot. It's more something I need to personally focus and work on rather than a fault of anyone other than me learning to not take everything to heart! With the channel having grown far quicker than I ever intended on here and YT it's just a learning curve of managing my own expectations of myself and getting better at reading intent💚

Please take care Sophie and maybe find and do things you love and enjoy as you take some time to yourself, I know it can be hard and difficult alot of the time, but taking some time and a breather for oneself can always help 💜💜 we always love you, your content and your company ☺️💜

You’re one of my favourite reactors because of your insightful analyses and the way you really pay attention to the details of the shows. I really enjoy hearing your interpretations and how you back up your theories with what you learned from the story even if it turns out to be wrong. I think discussions and having different interpretations are part of the fun but I understand how stressful and frustrating it can be when you feel like you missed something or have the “wrong” interpretation. Sending you all the hugs! 🫂 Please take care of yourself and do what is best for you ❤️

I hope none of my comments have been taken that way! You are one of my favorite reacters, especially with the depth and quality of your analysis (honestly, I can only think of a few other reacters that come close), and I'm regularly amazed at how spot on (and early) many of your theories are. It's almost as if you have some kind of degree in stories or something... 🤔 When it comes to people correcting you, I think that, unfortunately, the human urge to correct is strong. Personally, I feel like wildly off theories are part of the fun of reactions, especially when they take someone off the scent of an upcoming plot twist, preserving the surprise. And, of course, incorrectly interpreting or missing a detail is just a normal, natural part of watching any show. Unlike with reading, anime is a visual medium, and the details are not always clearly written out, so it's a lot easier to miss things. I also think people tend to trim out from their memory the times when they misunderstood something in a show, which probably leads to less patience with others when they miss something. I wish more people could learn to appreciate the fuzziness of it all. Also, I just want to say, I'm feeling so spoiled with your reactions lately. Vinland Saga, Apothecary Diaries, and FMAB? It's like you're going through a list of my all-time favorite anime lol

Absolutely the right choice to step away from the comments if it's bearing down on you. It's so difficult to silence that voice in your head, that's telling you that you're not doing good enough job, even when rationally you know that you're getting the best possible result within your limits. But I'm glad that you've recognized the source, and will be able to control your exposure to that source, so you can recover and start feeling better. As for me, your content is absolutely the best. So, take care and just enjoy the shows with less pressure. I'll enjoy them with you and everyone else here. ❤️

just under a year ago i was browsing youtube looking for AoT reactions and everyone's reaction just kept sucking. i watched so many people watch episode and i couldn't find any sort of interesting or analytical content. then i found your channel and instantly was hooked. ive watched every show youve covered now (besides apothecary cause im behind on the show) and your stuff is fantastic. You impose very high standards on yourself without realizing your content is already fantastic. keep it up and dont let yourself get discouraged by yourself

Take your time! ❤️ I think one of the key points of longevity in content creation (and having a patreon in general) is to build and foster a community that can function without the constant presence and oversight of its creator. Mental health is important in all aspects of life, even with hobbies lol. I mostly lurk because most of the time I’m not comfortable engaging, but I do enjoy your content a lot. 👍

Thank you for sharing your honest and heartfelt thoughts. I admire your openness and vulnerability, it takes courage to be so transparent about your feelings and struggles. Your self-awareness and commitment to prioritizing your mental health are inspiring, and it’s clear how much you care about your community and the content you create. Please know that your well-being always comes first, and taking a step back when needed is perfectly okay. Your honesty helps others feel less alone in their own struggles, and your authenticity is what makes your content so special. We appreciate you and support you unconditionally. Keep being kind to yourself, you’re doing amazing, and your community is grateful for everything you share. You have an incredible talent for unraveling complex plots and crafting fascinating theories. Your insightful commentary adds so much depth to the different animes and stories. I always look forward to your videos. And no matter whether your theories/opinions are correct or not, it's your genuine empathy and heartfelt emotion (your laughter and tears) that make your content truly special. You come across as authentic, never exaggerated (many YouTubers do sadly for views), which adds to the sincerity and appeal of everything you share. You're really inspiring! 💯 I'm not saying this to please you (well, maybe a little 😜) but I truly mean it. I wish you a happy Halloween too. 🎃🧛‍♀️

And I thought it was weird of me to dread comments, even texts.. so I totally understand, Sophie. And you’re a brave one for pursuing what you love doing even some activities that it entails may give you anxiety at times.

Well said Sam :) May I ask you, is Mob Psycho 100 one of your all-time favorite animes? Your profile picture looks like a character from that show. I haven't seen this anime, but I've heard good things about it.

You can always go back and read comments after you have finished a season (this is hoping no one has spoiled what is to come in the long run, if they have read the source materials). And I am not sure if this will be helpful, but your analysis and thought process is very interesting and your voice just soothing to listen too! I am glad that I will get to watch your reactions still. I honestly sometimes comment just for getting my thoughts out - whether you decide to read them or not is completely fine - no hard feelings at all. It’s just good to have a place to write things especially since I also have lots of anxiety and don’t have your courage to put my face out there! Thank you for what you do!

Ideology Eater

I'm not Sam but imo especially the second season is one of the greatest of all time. Just absolutely excellent show both visually and with the characters and storytelling

Peaches

I've only commented a few times one the first couple of videos I watched, but I stopped due to reading some of the condescending takes in the comment sections. One of my favorite things in the world is some else figuring out why I love a series so much and seeing them fall in love with it like I did. It's like getting to rewatch it again for the first time with you! That's what I love about your reactions so much, it's your genuine reaction and commentary to the information in front of you, and funnily enough, not many "react" channels do that any more. Keep doing you and we will be here to support you along the way, we are here for YOU, not for anonymous corrections in the comments. <3<3<3

It's funny cause i feel that the thing that pulls me most to reaction videos is seeing people getting things wrong and being open about their thoughts. And that is why I had to sub to your patreon as soon as I discovered your channel, your discussions are always so sincere and you are very very clever with them. I completely understand your decision on taking a time on comments and I really hope that this feeling doesn't make you feel insecure to make speculations and express yourself!! That's the reason we're all here! Apart from that keep up with the great work. Looking foward to your next reaction always!!

Take your time you need to worry about yourself hope you have a better and less stressful week

I have terrible social skills due to decades of anti-social behavior from undiagnosed social anxiety. I've been told many times that when I speak, I come off as mean and demanding, especially when I find something to talk about that I'm passionate about. If any of my comments ever came off that way, I do want to apologize. I feel so much guilt whenever people tell me my words hurt them. I don't like hurting people. I love your reactions to Apothecary Diaries, it's why I'm here. I wish you well on your mental health recovery.

TACO_TRUCK_OWNER_1

i know exactly what u mean cause i go on tiktok/twitter alot for my job and sometimes reading the comments literally ruin my day so now i just purposely skip reading them - it's weird sometimes im sensitive and sometimes im not, but genuinelly wish u the best and know ur not alone

DrSophieDarlingReacts

I will reassure you that I've never felt that way with your comments! Patreon is less of a concern when it comes to comments. YouTube is where I'll be taking the majority of a step back from temporarily!
