Most people just pronounce her name She-Swee. I don't know if that's exactly correct but that's what I use.

KatoBen

If it's Shisui you are referring to, it's pronounced "She-soo-ee." In Japanese, (and often in Chinese) vowel (sounds) are pronounced elongated. It's hard to reprogram our brains because we were often taught in English that 'ui' was often pronounced like 'we,' but in Japanese 'ui' is literally pronounced 'oo-ee.' Edit: I often got scolded by friends for how I mispronounced "Haruhi" and "Yufi" until I finally started saying their names correctly." Edit 2: Suirei is pronounced like 'Soo-ee-ray.'

OH MY! I love hearing what you have picked up and the puzzle pieces you are putting together. I found that this episode made more sense to me on the second watch after the series finished as there are a few bit that just confused me the first time as well as hints to what might be included in the next season to come! Anyway, as always, I want to point out a line here that I completely missed the first time. And as such, give those who don't find it a hint as well, spoiler free I promise! The line is along the lines of "the emperor deflowered them one by one, and if they were, they were barred from ever leaving the palace" to begin with but its what Hongang says after that I didn't catch: "its a shame she never got to leave the rear place before she died" and such raises a question, "Where are all the girls who are deflowered and barred from leaving the place now? How do they feel knowing that even though the man who did this is dead they can never truly leave the place their innocence was taken?" Missing this question was what made me confused on certain plot events in the future. Please continue making hour long videos and the like, I am here for YOUR reaction and theories! Also, no worries on the delay of any videos, its finals week for me so that means I won't fall behind on watching reactions if you post a few less! I hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a happy holiday!

(I had a whole comment and timestamps written out, but I accidentally triggered developer mode, and it was all erased. I'll try again) Regarding when the prior emperor reached out to Jinshi, I believe he was reaching out to him because of how effeminate Jinshi looked. The reason his "mom" jumped between them is because she knew he wasn't seeing Jinshi as his son but rather a sexual object. As for why the emperor's guards drug him away, I assume that his mother viewed viewed him as an embarrassment to the royal family. She loved him dearly and regretted that he was the only one who could ascend the throne, but she knew that his public presence and problems could bring shame and doubt to the royal family. (This is all assumption by the way, no spoilers here, just opinions.) The 3 sisters showing up and being revealed that everyone working for Gouyokuou are from the same hometown reinforces the nature of noble families employing branch families. I suspect that every person working for the concubine (other than Maomao) are cousins or distant cousins of Gouyokuou. Edit: So, what the lady at the ghost story meetup revealed is that every woman touched by the emperor were bared from leaving. I suspect this is part of the goodlihood of the emperor. A person who's been "touched" by a godly being should never be allowed to be tarnished by mortal men, is what I would assume. Just imagine showing up to work for a concubine at a young age, having your cherry claimed by the emperor, and then forced to see all your still pure family and friends leave to return home, only for you to be treated like a prisoner. They would never be allowed to find love, have children, or live their lives, all because of a child predator emperor that tossed them away once they grew too old. If the emperor had not passed away when he did, Lady Lishu, too, would have likely become another eternal prisoner of the rear palace. Then, why would Ahduo be allowed to leave, I believe there's extenuating circumstances, including the fact that she can no longer have children. As always, I love your reactions. It's always so difficult writing these comments without including any spoilers.

Leave it to Shisui to come up with a ghost story involving insects.🦗

This episode was definitely an interesting one. I think it’ll be interesting for you to come back to it once you finished S2!

For the names of the new Ladies in Waiting, Haku-u -> "Haku" is white, Koku-u -> "Koku" is black, Seki-u -> "Seki" is red. As they said they started wearing colored hairbands to match.

I don't recall if there's any callbacks to this episode after this one... So the lady that disappeared is never brought up if I remember correctly... My thoughts for the implication of this episode when I watched it, was just that there's stuff that not even Maomao knows... But thinks there's no chance of being a real thing (e.g. curses and superstitions) Like was that woman the replacement for the previous one that did this event? Or was it actually the ghost of the lady?.... I felt like it was left purposefully not explained just to give us that mystery...
