Dr Sophie: "He loves her, he wants her to be happy, he is prioritizing her over his own emotions, he doesn't resent Gardar and he is willing to see her happy with another man." So well said! 💯 I have always admired Einar, but this particular episode has significantly deepened my respect for him. His unwavering support in reuniting Arnheid with her husband, Gardar, truly highlights his selfless nature. He didn't even hesitate a single seconde! Despite his strong romantic feelings for Arnheid, he prioritizes her happiness and freedom, showcasing his loyalty as a friend rather than succumbing to jealousy or desire. He is willing to jeopardise his imminent freedom and even risk his own life for her happiness. What a Chad! 🫶 Initially, I believe Arnheid felt a sense of relief upon seeing her husband, but that relief quickly shifted to fear as she comprehended the danger he was in, along with the fact that he remains unaware of Hjalti.🧒🏽😢

There are certain animes where the voice performances of supporting characters are incredibly engaging, genuinely expressing profound emotions. For example, Erwin's shouts of resolve in AoT send chills down my spine, while Arneid's sincere cries of sorrow in this show create a memorable impression. I’m not acquainted with the actress who portrays Arneid, but she truly deserves significant recognition for her extraordinary skill. From joyful moments to sorrowful ones, she adeptly conveys a broad spectrum of feelings, immersing us in her characters' journey. 👏🏻👏🏿👏🏼👏🏽

In Snake's defence, the mission was to capture Gardar, not kill him. Not that it changes much, but still. That shot of Arnheid walking into the stormy night might be my favorite single panel of this entire arc, though it's really damn crowded at the top there. Either way, it's an amazing visual. Still cannot believe her voice actor didn't win female VA of the year, her screams alone made shivers run up my spine multiple times. Gardar's backstory is so freaking tragic. Stuck between a rock and a hard place. Stay at home and risk your village being left behind and overrun, or get proactive and risk being burned in the crossfire. Truly neither of these options are ideal, and it's obvious why they had such a back and forth on it. Either way, Sverkel's story to me is the cherry on top. Arnheid telling her story seems to imply that "hiding from the storm" as she says it, or otherwise staying inactive to wait and see, was the correct course of action. Sverkel reminds us that it's never so simple. He did exactly that, saw the danger, hid from it, and still ended up in a deplorable situation. We never have a full view of the facts, and we always have to make our decisions based on assumptions about those critical gaps. It's easy to look back and go "we should've done X instead," but in the moment you just don't know. Arnheid didn't know, Gardar didn't know, and Sverkel didn't know. They're just victims of a world filled with violence, where misery will come to meet you whichever way you turn to. Truly tragic. Just in that same way, Arnheid decided to consciously step into the storm this time. She doesn't know what will happen, but in a way I don't think she cares. She has regrets she wants to set aside, and this might be the only opportunity she gets to face them once more. There's no way she'll let that opportunity go to waste.

Unfortunately, wealth is one of the only safeties one can gather. Especially in that time. I see gardar’s perspective

I personally didnt interpret them as having killed Hjalti … Children are the more valuable slave. Maybe im too optimistic

I'll be honest, I'm not sure if life as a slave from 1 year old would at all be preferable to being killed. Never mind the fact that a 1 year old really isn't that valuable to a viking, I think Hjalti being killed might actually be the more merciful option for him...

Ugh cried my eyes out with this one.

I really like the line from Sverkel: 'Even if you wait out the storm, it sometimes leaves scars.'
