Yaay!

Keishi

I don't mind the intro, but most of the time I skip it not because of anything. I just want to get straight to your reaction (funny how I didn't skip it now, so I heard the question). But I think your intros make your channel unique and I am pretty sure most of the people watch it.

Hannah

I like your intros too! I like when a reactor has an intro especially if they have any other thoughts to discuss since they watched the last episode.

Brandon

In regards to your question in a previous video about scripted intros/outros, and this question about intros generally: I'd say no to the scripts and yes to the intros. I think a lot of us want to hear not just your polished ideas, but even your unpolished ones too. I don't see the raw recordings of your intros/outros, but I would even hazard a guess that many of us would be fine with seeing less edited intros/outros too. And as far as the intros go, I think a great use of the intros is to make clarifications or introduce new ideas you've had since last sitting down to watch the show. If something popped into you head on the drive to work in between recording, I think the intro is a great place to bring it up.

DrSophieDarlingReacts

All my intros and outros are unscripted and raw so you have very much seen them haha! The only thing I cut is long pauses or where I stumble over a word and have to repeat it just because that's not very interesting to watch :D The only scripted intro / outro was last Friday's Vinland Saga and then the intro for Frieren with the outro being unscripted. I've done raw intros and outros for every video since the channel began!

Mickael Landry

I like yours intros personally. Sabito's voice should sound familiar to you, Dr Sophie, especially when he starts shouting haha. 🗣

Brandon

Yeah I never really noticed many cuts or dialogue mismatch in your intros/outros, so I suspected that the editing there was minimal, just figured I'd toss the sentiment in there just in case. And yeah, I remember now in the Vinland video description that you already didn't seem to like the scripted versions either.

DrSophieDarlingReacts

I'm useless at picking up voices and putting a name to them haha! You'll have to tell me who it is or I'll not know :')

DrSophieDarlingReacts

Yeah I wasn't a big fan. I thought I'd try something different but it just kinda came off robotic because I wasn't just talking and stringing my thoughts together in the moment but reciting something I had already written down! I have started taking bullet points down though whilst watching so I can at least keep track of certain things that I might want to discuss! I've a hot key so I trigger that every time I mess up a word and have to repeat haha! Helps to keep it concise and I catch it quicker in editing!

Mickael Landry

By the way, now that I think about it, I believe Tanjiro's voice is that of Falco 🧑🏼. You will continue to hear some familiar voices in this show. 👂

Brandon

I mean kudos for trying it out though at least. I understand the reasoning behind it, seems good in theory but in practice just didn't work out. That's how improvements are made, sometimes it makes sense to do things the way everyone else does them, but you can only discover something better if you try!

Anna Kyruin

I appreciate your intros as well, it isn't everyone's cup of tea, some people just want to see you react to the content and I get that, but selfishly I'm often more interested in how you're interpreting what has happened so far in the show. Also since we are watching a week between each episode it's a nice way to level set and recall what happened in the last one and what you are interested in or expecting in the next as a result.

abdulrahman fahad

Great reaction as always, may I ask about the ( 86 ) anime, is it a potential reaction I would love for you to react to it

DrSophieDarlingReacts

I don't think it's selfish to have a preference! I do enjoy the intros to recap and expand upon my thoughts too :D

Mina E.D

Sabito's VA is the voice of Eren! I knew when I heard it that it was familiar but I didn't realize till someone pointed it out lol

Hezer

Bullet points while watching was the idea, that I was about to suggest in regard to scripted intros. That way you can save the topics you might want to talk about, without having to write the whole script, and then you can just yap naturally. As for the intros, I enjoy them, but I can see some people wanting the reaction to start right away.

Lama Mama

I watch these reactions cuz I wanna know what the Doc has to say. Besides, if people dont like the intros, they can just skip em'. Edit: Did you recognize the voice actor for our mysterious masked swordsman?

Buzzard

Yes, please keep doing the intros. I like them. It makes you pretty unique among reactors. I don't know if you misspoke or just didn't hear it right, but the demon slayer corp is NOT recognized by the government. It's a point that comes up later. You're doing well with the observations. It's almost like The Apothecary Diaries with the small details here and there. I also couldn't help noticing: first moon earrings, now butterfly earrings. 😲 By the end of the season you'll catch on.😁

Vivasvan Gautam

One minute into watching the reaction, I am wondering what some of your favourite video games are, Dr Sophie. We get namedrops like Elden Ring and Sekiro from you. Perhaps someday, in a Q&A video when you have time to film it, we can get to learn more about your gaming interests.

Doug Hughey

I personally tend to watch your intro on 2xSpeed because I appreciate hearing your thoughts, but also your reactions are the primary reason I’m here and I really enjoy seeing how you interpret and understand the story being told. My only issue with your intros is when I’m watching multiple episodes of yours and some of them (looking at you Apothecary Diaries haha) can be fairly… long haha. So I tend to skip them sometimes just because it can be a lengthy portion of the video.

Vivasvan Gautam

Also, your channel is much more geared towards discussion and analysis of plots and subplots, storytelling, and appreciation for art, music, and cinematography. There are channels that just go straight to reactions because that is what they feel comfortable with, and their audience does not expect anything more from them. As a member of the audience, I want to express that I really enjoy your analysis throughout your content. I am watching Breaking Bad with you, so these videos require me to rewatch certain parts multiple times. Sometimes it gets a bit difficult to concentrate on what is happening on screen and your commentary, so I have to repeat those parts to understand everything in your videos. But I think that is just a me problem. I have already seen Vinland Saga and Demon Slayer, so in these reactions, I mostly focus on what you're saying.

Vivasvan Gautam

God, I almost forgot that Yuki Kaji has voice acted as Sabito. Hearing Eren's (from Attack on Titan) voice again after such a long time was so jarring. Kaji's voice will always remain that of Eren in my head

DrSophieDarlingReacts

Yeah they're usually quite long in the intros because there's something I forgot to discuss in the previous episode so using that space to go over it 🙈😅

DrSophieDarlingReacts

Oh! I don't have that many favourite games but they would be, in no particular order: - Dark Souls 3 - Sekiro - Elden Ring - Bioshock Trilogy - Red Dead Redemption 2 - Plague Tale 1 and 2 - TellTale's The Walking Dead Series - Hollow Knight - Hades - Dante's Inferno - Yoshi's Island - Pokemon Fire Red - Pokemon Emerald & Sapphire - Pokemon Arceus

DrSophieDarlingReacts

I didn't until people pointed it out :') I'm really bad with recognising voices!!

WondrousMay

I personally really enjoy your introductions! They’re like a little recap to the previous episode and discussion which helps to refresh my memory and get into the new episode. Sometimes you also have additional discussions which is fun to watch. I really enjoy your discussion about Tanjiro’s character so far! He’s pretty underrated in terms of analysis since not a lot of people talk about him compared to other characters.

WondrousMay

Yeah… a lot of people think he’s boring. I love him too so it’s nice to see you appreciate the nuances of his character!

Mei

I like your intros! Especially because there are times when you use it to share additional thoughts and/or realizations that you have after editing the prior episode. Love your discussion about Tanjiro! Looking forward to you knowing more about this world and the other characters. :D

Gpinko

My favorite channels have more yapping actually, so long intros are great! It's your channel, so if that's the type of content you enjoy, and want to build on, then keep it! Other reactors are really just that: REACTIONS in the moment, but no discussions pre or post. Depending on the series and the episode i may not always watch intros, but I enjoy them most of the time if they add new or more in depth thoughts and don't just repeat/recap previous information. I love this training arc and how it really hones in how much effort it takes. Slicing that boulder may have seemed like an impossible feat, but arguably it may have been Tanjiro's easiest one compared to facing down a live demon. But we'll see. Final Selection....let's go

Wyld89

Definitely appreciate your intros! Sometimes I'll go through them and linger on key talking points (or ones I'm more interested in), while skipping over others, but I always appreciate them being there. The points I do usually skip over are the plot recaps, but that's helpful to establish where we're at (and I imagine is helpful for you as well). You mentioned the rocks on the roof of the house - I believe that's simply a traditional japanese country building technique for cheaply holding down roofing material (especially straw) that might be otherwise difficult to secure. Not Demon Slayer related, just locale/time period related. Also, saying Tanjiro can't give up at the slightest difficulty is a LITTLE harsh. This boy climbed literal and figurative mountains and worked himself to absolute exhaustion every day for a year and a half at that point. 6 months of that was trying to make progress without his teacher before he started to despair. That being said, I would LOVE to hear your reflections on this episode after you watch each of the next few and gain more context. It will be interesting to hear if your opinions/impressions of it change

Wyld89

A thought I just had that might be interesting for future series (time permitting). It would be cool if when you start a new series, you maybe do a rapid sequence of the first 5 episodes all at once. Either as a long reaction video, or as a bunch back to back in one day. A lot of series take a few episodes to build. and it might be helpful/interesting to kind of jump in a bit deeper and get a bigger established start before moving to the standard format. I'm thinking of something like Attack on Titan, where the first episode reaction is always crazy, but the first 2 episodes should really be watched together. And when I introduce people to the series, I always try to setup a watch session where we can do the first 4 or 5 episodes at once, which gives a solid grounding in the world building, characters, and starts to get into the core aspects of the series (SLIGHT SPOILERS FOR AoT ep 4/5 for anyone who hasnt seen): episode 4 ending with the return of one of the antagonists and 5 with Eren rescuing Armin

DrSophieDarlingReacts

I'm not underestimating his tenacity which I complimented before that scene. Nor am I saying that's how I feel. I'm emphasising that THIS IS THE LESSON they are teaching him. That things may seem impossible. Life may get difficult. You have to push forward. You can't accept defeat. It's not an option.

DrSophieDarlingReacts

Yeah that's not an option for me. I'm not a full time creator so the luxury of being able to sit and watch the first 5 episodes of a series back to back is not available to me. It'd also impact every other series I'm watching which wouldn't be fair. The filming I have at the moment already takes 4 to 5 hours and that's with only watching 1 episode per series. We also have to remember that I speak a lot more than most reactors do too. So 5 episodes would be 5 hours alone of filming FOR ONE SERIES which leaves me no time to do anything else. I have set hours in which I can film between my job and editing. If I was a full time creator? Sure - that's an option. But yeah that's not going to happen I'm afraid. I watch what's accessible and works for me. My entire schedule is planned and set in stone for exactly the purpose that I don't have the same luxury as a full time reactor does :')

Wyld89

Makes total sense. I'm excited to see the next few episodes when you get to them!

Bumbeau

I like the intros. They provide more opportunities to learn what the doctor is thinking.
