Was about to watch a Breaking Bad reaction but this takes priority lol

Its HERE, I love this episode, I bawl my eyes out every time watching it. Fully agree with everything you say about family and siblings. I am an older sibling as well, and Tanjiro & Nezuko is truly one of the greatest depictions of that role, which rivals Ed & Al for me. Can't wait to see you watch more and enjoy the ride even more.

Tanjiro 100% said it was one of the 12 when he was sent flying across the mountain lol Inosuke just ran with it I guess

It’s one of those moments where you truly see how much life animation can infuse into the original material. The battle scene was so beautifully animated that it brought the author to tears, can you believe that⁉️ The combination of the stunning visuals and the epic music turned this scene into a masterpiece! 🔥🎶🎚 Manga readers have even mentioned that this moment didn’t feel as intense in the manga, which made me even more pumped to see what the studio Ufotable has in store for some of the other big fights. This episode has made such a massive impact on popular culture that every anime fan knows exactly what you mean when you say "that episode of Demon Slayer." 📺🧑🏽👩🏻#️⃣1️⃣9️⃣ It was impossible to miss the flood of tweets that sent it soaring to the top of the Trending list!

Top 5 Demon Slayer eps easily, it is awesome to see well animated fights, but this ep just shows that beautiful art direction and emotional build up make a fight 10x better than just smooth/fluid movements, even if the animation isn't technically that impressive, it has a way larger impact.

Love the reactions so far! With Season 2 coming up I highly recommend watching Season 2 Episode 1 and then the movie. I don't want to over explain why, so I will just say that it is the best way to experience The Mugen Train!

Love your reaction. This episode was the one which brought Demon Slayer into mainstream 😃. It not only have beautiful animation but highlight one of the core values of Demon Slayer - our bonds 🥹. Just one note for you to remember so it will become more enjoyable for you, “Hi no Kami Kagura” means ‘Dance of the Sun God’. (Mentioning it here since if you google the meaning it directly gives spoiler )

Ngl, when I watched Nezuko do her attack I was so overwhelmed with emotions. I also love that we got to hear her "voice" as she did her blood demon art(even though she wasn't talking). I feel like it shows how strongly she feels about protecting her family on in the inside, even if she can't quite communicate it in demon form. She brings out a maternal/older sister feeling in me and I think DS does a very good job at making us care for her as one would care for a precious younger family member. Everything she does is so cute/heartwarming/heartbreaking/moving to me. DS is peak, and I wish I didn't put off watching it for as long as I did. It always annoys me when people try to set reactors up with negative expectations for this anime in particular. Its a weird obsession some people have that they feel the need to "warn" others about how DS supposedly doesn't compare to other anime, referring to it as "simple" and having nothing going for it other than good animation. I guess that's just what happens when shit becomes mainstream.

I remember reading the author of the manga, Gotouge when she was shown this episode burst into tears at how happy she was with how Ufotable presented this moment.

Love the way you're becoming so totally immersed in this anime. The journey is just beginning!

Kimetsu has such an amazing cast. Even some very minor characters, and one-off demons, have pretty famous seiyuu. Tanjiro's parents are both voiced by absolute legends: Shinichiro Miki, and Houko Kuwashima. Miki-san was the voice of Roy Mustang in FMA Brotherhood. 😉

My understanding is that the mangaka (Goutoge) tweeted that they cried when they saw this episode completed, and that prior to that they kept sneaking in to spy on the animators and give input while they were working on it. Also IIRC they said they'd watched the episode over 20 times once it was completed.

I believe I've mentioned my crack theory about Tanjiro having 'shinto synesthesia' before. When I first saw this episode it spawned another of my crack theories. The mangaka is very adamant that people do not see the flames/water/etc of breathing techniques, but in this episode you can clearly see that the dragon/flames and not Tanjiro's sword is what severs the thread. So my second crack theory is that these elemental forces are actually present and even visible in the Shintoist spiritual plane that the series regularly depicts (where his mom/siblings speak from etc). It's just humans can't see it.

This episode apparently broke the internet when it came out 😂 like literally. I've seen this episode countless times; NEVER fails to make me emotional. It's also my favorite hobby watching other people get emotional/cry to this episode 🥰 I encourage you to search the lyrics for the song too, its called Kamado Tanjiro no Uta "Tanjiros Song", and basically portrays his extreme resolve to keep going through hardships because he has someone to protect (Nezuko). A brief rough translated lyric phrase: "Even if you lose, even if you fail, You have no choice but to keep on living. No matter how beaten you are, There is something you have to protect." The bond of the Kamado family is beautiful, and truly one of my favorite family dynamics in anime. ESPECIALLY between Nezuko and Tanjiro.

The artistic direction for the finale of this episode was just soooooo perfect. The swelling of a freakin ballad for Tanjiro and Nezuko's triumphant final push along with the flash backs with mama and papa had so much impact.

Nina

Ahh every time I hear Tanjiros song it gets me in teaaaarrss, I absolutely love the animation in this episode

Tanjiro and Nezuko’s relationship is one of my favourite things about this show. Familial bonds often get overshadowed by romantic ones so I’m happy that these siblings are the focus of this story.
