I forgot it was mentioned in Ep 8 that they talked about the Gun Devil wanting Denji's heart so we're going to ignore how I just didn't take that information in haha!

Power deciding this is out of her league and hauling ass between episodes is the most Power move she could have made and I stan her for it lmao. CSM really fulfills so many promises in this arc that it made early on. Aki's first scene is telling Denji to quit bc most people who take this job end up dead, we know how many partners Himeno lost, the dinner party's mood was brought down when the topic of how many devil hunters die regularly is brought up, the old man from Himeno's flashbacks told her she's too normal and needed to loosen her screws more. and by episode 9 like 60-70% of who we thought might be 'the team' including Himeno are gone just like that, fulfilling those warnings. In my favorite action series I think I need life to feel a little cheap like that, it gives me reason to really care about the fights on another level. Gives me a reason to really want the heroes to win, I don't want to lose more people!

Also shoutout to the amazing artists behind this series. Notice how whenever we're doing flashback scenes like at the start of this episode and the start of episode 8, they completely reanimated both scenes from new angles and perspectives when they could have easily just reused the same cuts. With director Nakayama gone from mappa now I think small touches like that are something we'll see less in the future. rather than being too negative about it rather just enjoy it now while it's here.

Bittersweet episode, they get there get back and stop them but they are wiped out in the process. Kobeni getting some shine is brilliant, she can move can't she ?lol. Makima being i think "protective " is the wrong word possessive I feel is more accurate. Denjis her dog, who are these people to try take him. The information she has has to be high there full name is a big detail to just have and i think she has there locations aswell

Everybody seems to be after Denji's Chainsaw heart. And yes I was about to say "hey remember the previous episode we already have that katana devil say that the gun devil wants that heart?" As to what Makima is, I think you are spot on.

What a crazy 2 episode run!!! That shot of Makima standing up in the train aisle while covered in blood gives me goosebumps, so creepy and unsettling 😨 And we finally got to see Kobeni in action 😎

I didn’t notice it the first time I watched, but recently I saw an interesting yt video explaining the katana man’s character and design, and how it’s actually the polar opposite of Denji. Katana man has straight square teeth and an old school 70s sideburns haircut, and his weapon devil is a katana, a traditional elegant weapon that makes clean precision cuts. Meanwhile Denji is the opposite, he has sharp jagged teeth, long wild hair. And his weapon devil is a chainsaw, a modern tool that makes wild messy cuts. And this shows the contrast of Denji being a modern non traditional man vs katana who is a traditional man. And even down to their food preferences they are opposites, katana man in the resturant is a snob criticizing the quality of the food meanwhile Denji will literally eat anything😂. So yeah I really loved those details in the character designs and overall I really like the trope of having 2 directly opposite characters, kinda like Griffith and guts from berserk (not that I would katana man on the same level as Griffith). I think it just went over my head the first time watching it because of all the craziness that was happening in episode 7 and 8.

That scene that alternates between Himeno and the Ghost Devil is arguably so far the emotional peak of Chainsaw Man"s first season. It perfectly captures how contracts in this world aren't just clinical transactions; they are high-stakes sacrifices fueled by desperation and/or love.  Himeno totally gives her everything ; her whole body to the Ghost Devil. And even after her body vanished, her will seemed to linger within the Ghost Devil. This led to her last action with the Ghost arm to tug Denji's cord, resurrecting him to fight in her place. The music in the background was so engaging. AN AWESOME FINAL ACT OF LOVE ❤️‍🩹👻🫳🏻🪚

....and Makima coming back from the dead. Wow, she's seriously one of the most terrifying characters ever. We know now how she can just yeet people from miles away... She uses these poor, blindfolded sacrifices to scream out a target's name, and then boom! The target just gets obliterated by I this invisible force. It's like a super-powered, horror-movie version of Death Note. Seriously, you do NOT want to mess with her. 🙀 Ultimately, it really makes you wonder as you suspect Sophie: Is Makima just letting all these crazy, chaotic things happen, or is she secretly pulling the strings behind the scenes⁉️ It's so hard to tell what her real deal is and what she's actually trying to achieve. She's like a master manipulator, and I am absolutely hooked to see what her ultimate plan is! It's going to be epic!

Totally! It was a total tonal shift for her character! Up until that point, she was mostly known for her anxiety, so seeing her move with that level of speed and precision against Katana Man and the girl was wild. She basically went from "comic relief" to "top-tier combatant" in a matter of seconds. It really highlights how much of a wildcard she is in the series; even if she's constantly terrified, her reflexes are clearly elite.
