For what to watch first, it depends if you wanna go in release order or chronological story order. Ep 1 of S2 takes place before the movie and sets it up a bit, but the movie did come out before S2. Also, a big chunk of the first half of S2 is just the movie cut into episodes. I don't think it matters "that" much which you do. You can watch S2E1 then the movie, or vice versa and it won't impact anything too bad. You can even skip the movie and just watch S2, since eps 2-7 of S2 are just the movie. Honestly if you don't wanna disrupt your filming schedule much, I'd say skip the move and just watch S2 in order (but others are of course going to say no because they want the movie in one react hah which I'm also not opposed to). Dunno if any of that helped, but really the answer is "whatever you wanna do" is fine lol

Chronologically, episode 2x1 comes first, then the movie, and that's my recommendation.

Episode 1 of season 2 is essentially a prologue to the movie. The end of the episode and the start of the movie are separated by maybe 30 seconds.

For Mugen Train, it's a little confusing because it depends what platform you're watching this on. Basically, the movie came out first in theaters as its own arc. Months later, they cut the movie into an episode format and combined it with the rest of Season 2. So Mugen Train + Season 2 as a whole is "Season 2". The extra episode of S2 Ep1 was released along with these episodes, as it is a prologue to Mugen Train, but was not in the original movie release. Plotwise it'll make more sense to do S2 Ep 1 and then the movie, you learn a bit about some things before going into the plot of the movie. It won't derail your experience or understanding doing it the other way around, but I prefer chronological order personally.

I also recommend to watch Episode 1 of Season 2 before the Mugen Train movie, it sets things up nicely! It feels like such a natural transition, giving you that extra context and building up so much excitement for the movie's main event. Plus, that first episode is a great way to get back into the Demon Slayer groove. I've seen lots of people talking about the best order, and honestly, no matter which way you go, it's going to be fun! Another option is to skip the movie altogether and just watch the first seven episodes of Season 2. It really comes down to what works best for you and your Patreon reaction recordings. If you don't have two hours to dedicate to filming the movie, then diving straight into the Season 2 episodes might be the smarter play. Just keep in mind that watching the movie Mugen Train will make you complete season 2 much faster ⚠️ (so it also really depends on whether you want to take your time or not) . Episodes 2 to 7 of the series are a compilation of the film, featuring a few minor additional scenes.

Episode 1 of Season 2 is the setup for the movie. So S2E1 > Mugen Train makes the most sense. S2E1 isn't 100% necessary for the movie (I watched them originally in the other order because I didn't know any better) but in hindsight I definitely wish I'd watched S2E1 first.

Crossing Mao

S2 ep1 is a studio original production that, because of the timing of it's making gets to tie in first season to the movie. IMO just watch the movie first. Some people like to claim that the movie is impactful because of the episode but I find that kinda offensive to the original work and what the movie itself managed to achieve when it originally came out. It's not nearly as necessary as people claim it is.

Cats 'N Pops

Watch episode 1 then the movie! Although as long as you watch the movie and not the arc episodically you'll still enjoy it either way. I do agree though that the context from episode 1 makes the movie better. Especially for your type of reaction content and the way you like to enjoy shows!

For what yo watch right after S1 either way works but going with the movie first is better pacing. The season bonus episode happens previous the event of the movie but its not essential to the story. So it depends what's more important to you.

Blackguard4

Watch the movie first, and then Episode 1 of Season 2. This is the release order and in my opinion the way that the producers and ostensibly the author themselves want you to watch the story. The reason people want you to watch Episode 1 of Season 2 first and then the movie is mostly because it's in chronological order, which is perfectly fine. I just happen to think that watching episode 1 of season 2 after the movie is a better viewing experience.

Since everyone already explained and there are people srguing from both sides, im just gonna say: just toss a coin or smth lol. I dont think it matters much. S2E1 is anime original, so even those of us who read the manga and enjoyed just with that were like "oh nice, more"

Buzzard

I'm going to go with watching the movie first and then EP1-S2. I know EP1 is the lead in to the movie but the impact will be greater watching it after. Then again, I'm a contrary old Buzzard who always goes against the norm.😈 In any event, watch the whole movie and not the chopped-up abomination that is EP2-7. The movie is a roller coaster, 2-7 is a merry-go-round. Both are a ride, but that's where the similarities end.

I feel the movie, while great, isn't essential to the overall experience. From my point of view, completely skipping the six episodes of Season 2 that bridge the gap to the movie would feel more like a disservice to the studio's work when I consider your argument. Those episodes, even with minor additions for the movie, are still part of the season's narrative and offer a more thorough adaptation. In line with the point you raise, I think therefore the most respectful way to engage with the Demon Slayer work and the incredible effort that goes into it is to watch everything – both the Mugen Train movie and all the episodes in Season 2 that cover it. Personally, while I understand why people might want to just jump to the movie for its impact, I found the repetition between the movie and those specific episodes to be a bit much for my taste. So, I chose to prioritize watching the season's episodes to get the most complete picture.

I love seeing Tanjiro wanting all the smoke when it comes to defending his sister. Him being kind doesn't mean that he has to be some spineless pacifist. I like that the show let him be all the things, while still being kind at the core. He deserved his headbutt!! Its an injustice that he didn't get it.

Seryu Ubiquitous

I agree. i think the best would be to just ignore the movie and just watch the serie. its the most consistent way and doesnt mess with any schedule unless you really want to watch the entire arc in one session for some reason.

WondrousMay

I haven’t watched episode 1 of S2 since I watched Mugen Train movie in theatre and moved on to the Entertainment District arc (second part of S2) after and it doesn’t really impact the overall story in my opinion. I think it just depends on which format you prefer: movie or individual episodes.

Everyone saying what order they prefer about the episode and the movie, but I feel like you are going to get more impacted by the movie if you see episode 1 of season 2 first!! It gives you time to grasp the general vibe of the movie and understand it better, so I believe you, as Sophie, are gonna prefer the season 2 episode 1 then => Mugen train Movie order more imo🤔
