Chainsaw man somehow manages to make a frankly insane idea into something bizarrely beautiful. 2 friends repeatedly kicking a man in the balls in revenge for there friend made us cry.... that's what fujimoto did. The hayakawa family is one of my favourite parts of the story even with the looming tradegy of akis limited time. These people have found a home. And the teaser at the end with this mysterious person oh I'm excited

Want to shoutout Season 1's director Ryu Nakayama for delivering this amazing season of television. He was the creative vision behind a lot of this adaptation, particularly his decision to animate and direct the art style to imitate the look of live action cinematography. I also give him credit for so many of the slower character building anime-original moments like Aki smoking the cigarette on the balcony--'easy revenge' burning away to just leave 'revenge' Unfortunately Mappa removed him as director of the series (imo essentially mappa used him as a scapegoat for Season 1's poor blu-ray sales) and the new director changed the style quite a bit to be much more traditional anime looking and feeling. Rather that being negative about the new style (bc it is awesome in its own right) I will just forever be grateful for this beautiful season that we did get and they can never take away from us.

The movie is the direct canon continuation of the story and we expect season 2's release date/release window to be announced in as soon as 3 weeks! Sometime in June

I just have to share how absolutely perfect the OST "Sweet Dreams" is for Chainsaw Man! 🎶 Every scene is elevated tenfold by the music, and I can't stop raving about how incredible it is! Does anyone else feel the same way? 🥹 The tracks during the Himeno scenes are definitely my favorites so far. They strike such a beautiful balance of melancholy, nostalgia, and a hint of comfort. The ethereal and ghostly vibe fits those moments so perfectly! Kensuke Ushio is a true genius!🎛💯 I’m so thrilled by his work that I want to check out all his other projects just to experience more of his amazing soundtracks. I've even started creating some of my own music, sampling elements from the Chainsaw Man OST. His compositions really pull out genuine emotions. And by the way Sophie, remember how you were introduced to his talent through the film "A Silent Voice🦻"? His music there is just as powerful!

This episodes ending is definitely one of my favorites out of all the different endings. Found family is one of my favorite tropes and I love how you can see how much power aki and Denji have come together. Power is extremely selfish and doesn’t care for humans, but by the end of the season she is getting along Denji and aki. Aki was focused on avenging his family and killing the gun devil, but by the end of of the season finds a new family with Denji and power. And Denji finally gets the family he never had with power acting like a younger sister and aki like an older brother. They are so different from eachother but yet they all work well as a family.

I agree, especially the music in the reze arc movie. I don’t often listen to ost’s that much besides some evangelion tracks, but after watching the reze arc movie I was consistently listening to lots of songs from the movie. My favorite has got to be “edge of chainsaw.” And the piano version of it from the movie was so good too. I hope kensuke continues to make the music for the rest of the chainsaw man anime.

Totally! "Edge of Chainsaw" is such a killer track . I've had it on repeat too haha. And that piano version? Unreal. It's awesome that you're digging into OSTs more, Kensuke Ushio really makes you want to explore his discography!

the problem with those 12 episode anime. they are over way to fast and especially this one with so much going on. but really hoping for a season 2 and cant wait for your movie reaction.

I actually binged the manga in a few days up to this part so I could go see the movie in theaters, so it was really fun to watch the tv series for the first time along with your reactions! Can't wait to see how you like the movie

I am suuuuuch a sucker for the found/chosen family trope and aki, power, and Denji are by far my favorite found family 😭 they mean so much to me.

I love the theme of "Easy Revenge". When Aki put the gum on that girl's clothing as easy revenge for Himeno, I think it took the weight off of how dark it is to have your 6th dead partner's sibling come and slap you. Something thats become clear after revenge trope's throughout the years is that nobody wins with revenge, the perpretator dies or is punished somehow, and the vengeful remains empty inside. My interpretation of Aki smoking that cigarette is that he has stopped allowing his revenge to consume him. He is open to making connections with his coworkers, and while he still wants revenge, I think he has also chosen to live his last couple years connecting with others as well.

This is as far as I've ever seen Chainsaw Man and I know nothing of the further story. My theory about the door that Pochita wouldnt let Denji open is that it somehow contains the reason for why the Gun Devil would be after the Chainsaw Devil. Because that seems like an odd thing to me, so there must be some history/memories that explains it. Also, with Katana man...your granddad killed Genji first! Literally enslaved him, dismembered him, threw his corpse into a dumpster, and then attacked him as a zombie. "Oh, my granddad was a good guy." NO! So frustrating he seemed to think Denji owed a debt on that when really, Denji evened the score by killing him

What she said about the door at 28:00 and how opening it would separate them never came to me as a possibilty, i always gave different meanings to the door but that phrase makes a lot more sense than i thought. if having even a little bit of possibility of this comment being a spoiler is an issue, feel free to delete it or to tell me to do so.
