One more episode and we’ll be officially on season 2, how exciting! I think you’ll enjoy season 2 as much or even more than season 1. Some things that I want to mention about this episode are that Kanao’s name (pronounced more like Ka-now than Ka-no-a) name is picked by her! The sisters gave her a list of names that she chose from, through that was after Kanae vetoed Shinobu’s suggestions of barracuda, chickweed, fish roe, etc. And while Shinobu has her sister’s butterfly haori, you can also see that Kanao wears one of Kanae’s butterfly hair clips in the present day along side the coin she carries!

Hi Sophie! Thank you for your dedication to your videos, I absolutely love them <3! The Butterfly sisters always break my heart. It's so sad that Tanjiro never got to meet Kanae, the older sister. They would have gone along so well! And, by the way, Kanae was also a Hashira, the Flower Hashira. I think that Shinobu's personnality shift also comes from her own new maturity and sense of responsability. Of course, she wants to honor her sister's wishes, but I think that she also wants to give the other girls a sense of stability and security, by keeping herself calm and not being as impulsive as when she was younger. The little girls, Sumi, Naho and Kiyo are orphans whose families were killed by demons, that were taken in by the sisters! Can't wait to see your reaction to the last episode of this season. It really is worth the watch!

I actually can't believe you're almost on the movie!! After that, seasons 3,4 and 5 pass so quickly (i think they are 30 episodes in total) and before you realize it you're at the movie that came out a few months ago!!! I'm so excited to watch all these episodes, of one of my favorite shows, with you!! I can't wait for you to reach my favorite episode of demon slayer, but until then I get to cry alongside you every time something happens 🥰🩷

This is when I am reminded that this is, in fact, set during the industrial revolution and while improbable, a cowboy gunslinger (of the wild west variety) and a samurai (prob fleeing from the impeding revolution/"restoration") could technically meet with a pirate (even a curtain famous female one) during the golden pirate age with a detective from Victorian London (sherlock style) is not impossible. Just a fun DnD party in my opinion (credit to original tumblr post that said this) Also I am once again reminded that while everyone here is fighting with very sacred will made swords I am sure; guns do exist right now and are becoming agile and lighter to carry with every year. So in my mind this series could have a very fun cowboy bebop/film noir style show where they use guns instead of swords... (something in me tells me that this story already exists somewhere). Anyway Kanao is great and amazing and I can't wait till you really get to see our best girl in action, its funny that you were originally seeing a connection with Shinobo and Tanjiro since I kind of see them as a older sister in law to admiring younger brother in law. I also really adore the three younger sisters that the butterfly mansion, they really bring out Tanjiro's older brother instincts, especially with his younger sisters that he hasnt really been able to indulge until now. It makes me so happy to really see Tanjiro become encouraged by being encouraging to others, that loop really shows where all that positive determination comes from and you can see it, not only in his words, like with teaching his brothers in arms, but also his actions, like with his cheerleaders. (which I am now calling them you are so right) Finally, no worries on the being seen as lazy, YOU ARE SOO NOT. Take what is best for you and leave us with the rest, we will be fine at home for a week, we promise teach. P.S CUTE CAT!!

It's a funny coincidence that you suddenly get to hear a lot of Kanao talking in this episode, since you're also about to watch the Chainsaw Man movie. You'll be hearing a lot more of Reina Ueda in that, and she gives an incredible performance.

You may feel currently tired, but it doesn't really impact the quality of your top tiers analyses. 🫡 You make a compelling observation that because Kanae always loved seeing her smile, Shinobu made after her tragic passing the deliberate choice to wear a cheerful, patient, and serene facade to the outside world. This friendly demeanor is like as you mentioned a coping mechanism to hide her immense grief, seething rage, and hatred toward demons and a deliberate tribute, allowing Shinobu to act as a compassionate older sister to both Kanao and the young girls at the Butterfly Mansion. And to revisit another one of your previous insightful observations, similar to Tanjiro's relationship with Nezuko, Shinobu must also cope with the curse, the burden of being now the "oldest sister" by masking her inner turmoil to present a calm facade to her younger protégés.

I must add Kanao's eye transformation is chef's kiss brilliant! 💯 It's one of those details that just makes you go "wow" and really connects you to her journey. Seriously, when you think about it, it's very well done. Remember how she looked when the Kocho sisters first found her? Just a little kid, completely broken, and her eyes were so vacant. Like a doll with no spark. It perfectly captured how she'd shut down all her feelings just to survive. But then, boom! Shinobu and Kanae swoop in and give her a home. And you start seeing it, right? Little by little, her eyes begin to change. That dull, dark lilac iris starts to get a bit of a shimmer, a hint of life. It's like the hope, the love, and the family she finally found at the Butterfly Mansion are literally shining through her. 😶🔜👀✨ It's like her eyes are a direct mirror of her whole character arc. They show us exactly how far she's come from being that traumatized little girl to finding her own value and her own strength. It's such a powerful visual, and it just makes you root for her even harder! 🥰

I loved your discussion about Shinobu, Kanao and Kanae’s relationship so much! Shinobu’s personality change after her sister’s death broke my heart. The fact that we got to see her true personality in the flashback made her comment about being exhausted in the previous episode even more impactful. Shinobu felt like she had to uphold Kanae’s wish to have empathy for demons and to change her personality to be more like Kanae so that her sister’s death wouldn’t be in vain. I love that she’s also caring for Kanao too. She’s such a great character!!!

I think it was evident that Kanae was a Hashira :) so don't worry Caroline haha! Yeah I had a feeling the younger girls were also taken in due to circumstances considering what they did for Kanao. I definitely think it's a combination of responsibility as well as the pressure of her sister's wishes. She's hiding behind a mask and she's exhausted by it. She says as much to Tanjiro when he senses the anger radiating from her. But what is clear is that she does not feel she can truly express herself because it would go against what's expected of her as both an older sister and the memory of Kanae.

Awww fur baby! I love a cat cameo :D Tanjiro and the other boys make me smile so much! Inosuke called Zenitsu "Monitsu" when they decided to train again, and I laughed so hard I had to pause the show. Such a funny quirk of his. xD They're all just the best together.
