This was another favourite episode of mine because we got more insight into Anna’s character. It’s also a nice parallel to Tenma’s episode where he learnt to shoot a gun (Ep.9) too. This show also does a good job of making us care about minor characters like Russo in a short span of time. “Killing someone is easy. All you have to do is forget the taste of sugar.” - this is one of my favourite quotes from the show. It’s thought-provoking and it fits the themes of the story very well. Anna’s been through so much so I’m glad she has someone who cares about her even if it was for a brief period of time.

Oh, I forgot to mention that I loved how you brought up Attack on Titan and its themes of “to defeat a monster, you’ll have to become a monster.” Eren’s character is a great example of this too.

I wonder since you are currently watching Chainsaw Man and seeing Denji wanting the simple things in life like food for example and seeing him fall into the life of being a Devil Hunter enhanced your feelings towards Mr Russo in empathizing with how he also fell into the life of a hitman not by choice but by circumstance 🤔.

I think it's just easy to empathise in general when you know how easy it can be to fall into specific dangerous lifestyles due to your environment and not having the same opportunities as others. In my country we have a lot of paramilitary organisations and children from impoverished backgrounds are often lured into it because they have nothing else to aspire for. It's tragic. So I can understand if people can emphasise because of Denji but for me I always find empathy because I've seen too many people trapped in a cycle of poverty who believe there's no way out of it :(

"Killing people is easy. Just forget the taste of sugar." still one of my all-time favorite anime quotes
