So I got home from work - still had some energy so I thought "I'll get ahead and film the JJK movie."

Only to find out I watched the wrong thing.

I watched JUJUTSU KAISEN: Hidden Inventory / Premature Death – The Movie which is the first five episodes of S2 which is apparently a thing that I never knew about so I feel like I've made a huge fuck up.

I shall blame Crunchyroll but also me not paying attention. It was the only movie available so I just presumed (naturally) that was the right one because WHY WOULD YOU NOT PUT THE ACTUAL MOVIE IN THE JJK DROP DOWN?! Instead it's a completely different search you have to do to pull it up.

So yeah the movie releasing tomorrow is not actually the one we should have watched but is instead the first 5 episodes of S2.

It's not really ideal because the ACTUAL MOVIE will now be delayed until next week because I don't have time to sit and film for another 2 hours. I'm also kicking myself because I said I was going to watch in release order and well - that's not happening.

I'm so sorry. Really annoyed at myself.

Phenomenal arc though.

All good, this happens to the best of us. It’s pretty confusing, tbh. Most of us need to be told abt that by other fans.

Silent Scream

This honestly isn’t the worst thing that could’ve happened

Caleb Mackin

well now you’re going to look at jjk 0 in a different light than you would’ve but not in a bad way! you’ll just have some backstory that other people didn’t have the first time they watched the movie

DaanJonker

Dear Sophie, don’t be worried at all! Of course it sucks that you’ve watched the Hidden Inventory Arc before JJK 0, but having watched the Hidden Inventory Arc makes JJK 0 easier to follow. It can happen to the best of us! Looking forward to your takes on the Hidden Inventory Arc :)))

beaverfurr240

that sucks, sad it didn't turn out the way you wanted though but if it makes you feel better this is a better experience if you ask me as I was one of the people who recommended watching episode 1 to 5 of season 2 then jjk 0 movie.

Sebas Tian

Thats okay, it's still watchable and understandable. Is just going to be a different experience

Chantz-27th

Well tbf both are prequels it isn’t the biggest deal I wouldn’t worry too much , all that matters continuity wise is that you watch 0 before ep 6. It might even be cool for you to have the info from premature death before you watch 0 it could add some layers to it , looking forward to your reactions as always though keep up the great analysis (first time commenter)

Vick

ah damn i was looking forward to 0! don’t beat yourself up though, it’ll be all the more interesting to see how your analysis of the other movie may differ from people who watched it in release order

Jackson

well all of the weirdos who insist you have to watch it out of order will be happy 😭😭 lol but for real, this isn’t a big deal at all in my opinion! don’t beat yourself up about it please!!

Slendercucumber

Don't feel bad. U basically watched the first 5 episodes of season 2. But yeah it is dumb that it is a thing with crunchyroll.

Leah Henderson

OMG Sophie I am doing my first watch-through of JJK as well (also via Crunchyroll), and I did the same thing! I started S2 a few days after watching what I thought was the movie and I was like...wait...huh? So I must also now search for the movie... SO I FEEL YOU! -_-;

rxin11

honestly considering what happens in the movie this works out well enough

Justin Doan

If it's any consolation it's really not that bad. JJK 0 is the prologue to the entire story and was the first thing that was released for the manga anyway, so you could say the order for the anime is jumbled up anyway

Atakan Bk

Well fortunately this is probably the best mistake you could have made JJK 0 and hidden inventory pretty interchangeable in watching order and I think you will enjoy jjk0 more now.

The_Venomous_Viper

Don't beat yourself up! Since the missing inventory arc takes place before everything you have seen so far (including the movie JJK 0 ) at least you aren't spoiled on anything hah it still works to slot the movie in between it and the rest of S2, though it may suck for your schedule hah

DrSophieDarlingReacts

OMG THAT MAKES ME FEEL SO MUCH BETTER!!! I have no idea why Crunchyroll didn't include the movie in their drop down but rather the first 5 episodes of S2?! I feel so much better that it's not just me this happened to haha!!

Charlie baker

Dont sweat it that arc is a prequel to set the stage for the rest of the shibuya incident. You have more info on gojo and geto but it shouldn't mess with 0 too much which is also a prequel.

Omar Cordova

I didn't even know that there was such a movie so that's crazy! That sucks but it is what it is. Enjoy your time off!

Alma

It's all good! I don't think watching the hidden inventory arc before movie 0 will have any impact on your enjoyment of the movie, and it also doesn't really affect the flow of things. I actually think having the events of the hidden inventory arc in mind when watching the movie can even IMPROVE how you perceive it's content. Don't beat yourself up over it! The way crunchyroll has it set up is stupid.

Leah Henderson

Definitely not just you! I totally commiserate! Goodbye, carefully thought out viewing order lol XD

DrSophieDarlingReacts

I now have to film an alternative intro because the whole intro is me like "oh can't wait to watch this movie before jumping into S2" hahaha not realising this is the first 5 episodes of S2!!!

Carys M

I hope you enjoyed the episodes in the format as a movie since before with Mugen train you preferred to watch it as episodes. I do hope it didn’t make you enjoy the story any less and still have a good discussion about it

Jaden Acevedo

Does this mean she’ll be the first person to see the photo slideshow?? If so that’s lit

DrSophieDarlingReacts

There's a lot of discussion haha!! I really enjoyed it but I think because there's no huge death like Rengoku to dominate the conversation, there was a lot to delve into whereas Mugen Train there's so much HAPPENING that you really need the episodes to truly break it up and to focus on the individual aspects. Whereas these 5 episodes it's more the journey of Geto's departure from Jujutsu society - some amazing action scenes and the story was phenomenal but you have the time to take it all in rather than being overwhelmed by the intensity of the emotions that was Mugen Train.

Carys M

Okay good thank god as I really love the hidden inventory arc and would hate if you didn’t enjoy it lol

TheRubyMinecat

Well thats unfortunate asf 😭. All good though, cant wait for the reaction!

DrSophieDarlingReacts

Well considering the movie is 1 hour 40 - I have 2 hours 41 for you all hahaha so lot of discussions!!

Karolis Sad.

The experience isnt ruined and we fans get to eat up 5 episodes 😋

2rs2cs2ds

Its not the worst flub, theres an argument to be made that this is better.

TheRubyMinecat

Oh yea i forgot to ask but this means we're only getting these 5 eps this week(tomorrow) and only the actual movie next week right?

Gpinko

Ah, so sorry that happened. 100% blame Crunchyroll for that. When it first came out when I watched it, it was episodes only so that wasn’t an issue…yikes. HOWEVERRRR you did just watch my FAVORITE ARC of JJK and the episodes that made me love the show. The backstory relationship between Gojo and Geto is my FAVORITE thing to dive into especially as you head into the next season. This is also premature since I don’t know what you haven’t seen, but if you did not yet watch the opening and ending for it pleaseeeee please do. If you did, disregard entirely. It is just…my favorite OP and ED and if you dive into the lyrics, it soooo much more impactful for this arc. Anyway; sorry that happened, but at least you’ll watch the REAL movie next time, and you can analyze more things! Not all bad.

Goldie

For some reason, Crunchyroll decided to separate out JJK0 movie from the rest of the JJK content last year, it makes no sense why they did that

DrSophieDarlingReacts

I did watch it but no subtitles for lyrics but it was still beautiful 😭❤️

DrSophieDarlingReacts

Yeah 5 episodes tomorrow and then 0 I'll be filming Monday so will be either Monday evening or Tuesday

TheRubyMinecat

Glad its already later in the week so i wont have to wait too long for the movie 😭

Gpinko

I’ll give you more info after the video comes out, then 🤍

DrSophieDarlingReacts

Yeah it's just unfortunate but the first 5 episodes of S2 are near 3 hours of content so still something to tie you over 😂🙈

TheRubyMinecat

Genuinly dunno why crunchyroll has them put that way, quite annoying especially for new watchers

Krul

I don't think it is a big deal, honestly. As you are probably aware by now, JJK0 is a prequel, so keeping a strict watch order is not that critical. Since you are still planning to watch it before the Shibuya arc, you should be just fine.

Jim Nasium

Lmao actually I was going to suggest this a while back but I decided not to. Honestly this is actually to me better watching this first and then the movie. It really doesn't affect it much

domi

The only part that was gonna make me sad it's That Moment when the ed just stops, but since it's apparently there it really doesn't matter much, aside for you not getting cliffhangers (which I guess is a win for you lol) there's also the bonus of the extra stuff so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. With this you have also learned a valuable lesson: fuck crunchyroll, never trust them 😒

Kayla Unknown

Ahaha, damn. That's really not the biggest problem though. There's some debate about watching it in this order anyway, and while I'm more of a release order purist about JJK, I really don't think this will actually harm anything.

Anna Kyruin

This is the "Watch Ilse's Notebook" order thing all over again. Both are valid, each way of watching it has the viewer walking away with different takes. I'm looking forward to watching your reaction to it in this order because that is actually very unique to find.

domi

I was going to recommend an app i use to track what I watch (and how to), but just today they announced they're gonna discontinue it😭😭 it has the correct order to sooo many things😭 So if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna cry in a corner (if anyone knows any other app or site please lmk, ty)

TheRealLoRider

Lmao, some things really are cannon events for new anime fans huh? Back in the day after I watched FMAB for the first time, I learned there was a movie as well, I was super confused while watching it and nothing made sense. Turns out that was because there was also a movie for the first FMA series as well and the site I was using just didnt have the other movie for some reason lol. So I think most us have been there in some way or another

hman70

If it makes you feel any better as I've said in the past you just watched in the same order someone would have when reading the manga for the first time. If no one tells you jjk0 existed the Hidden Inventory movie you watched just follows sequentially after the last chapter of "season 1". Please don't beat yourself up about it! Anyone who would give you a hard time over this are not serious people.

Cats 'N Pops

No worries! That's really not that bad I don't even think it spoils anything so don't be annoyed at yourself!

Charlie baker

Heh i saw the movie on toonami before ever watching the show

Fennec

Since both are great and interchangeable, task failed successfully!

Torje Amundsen

Mannn why is Crunchyroll so dumb about this haha. I'd be lying if I wasn't a little disappointed since it definitely paints 0 in a different light, but it's not your fault at all and I haven't seen anyone watch Hidden Inventory/Premature Death in the movie format before so I'm excited to hear your analysis as always!

Dylan Pisani

That actually an alternative way people watch jjk. Chronologically since the 5 eps are a flasback, the movie is also a flashback and chronologically after hidden inventory.

Peach

If it makes you feel any better, the 3 seasons of Working are titled: Working!! Working'!! and Working!!! And they were listed in reverse order when I started watching, so I was quite a while into the first episode of season 3 before I realized it was season 3 and not just a very avant garde opening 😂

Katie

I second this! I was going to highly recommend the OP and ED for the hidden inventory arc for the same reasons

Katie

That sucks that happened to you Sophie! At least it does work for the timeline😅 Since you're so analytical it's too bad we won't get each episode's thoughts/discussion etc. But like others have said it's not the worst thing to happen. When I was watching it week to week when it was being released some of those cliffhangers were brutal haha My only thing with the Hidden Inventory movie is I personally didn't like the change of using black and white during a certain scene vs the original episode having it in colour. So minor though. The slideshow though is so good 😭

Thalnae

That's honestly not such a bad thing! I understand the frustration if the aim was to watch in release order, but look at the bright side: you will be going in chronological order instead. And I agree with everyone else who said that you will look at JJK 0 in a different light, it might even be less confusing that way. I've seen so many reactors not correctly linking characters and emotional beats when going JJK 0 -> Hidden Inventory / Premature Death. That's not to say it would have been true for you, to be honest you're probably one of the few reactors I've watched who actually takes time to think things through 😊 Without spoiling anything since I have read the manga too, I will say you're probably the only one who still back halfway the first season had understood Megumi's character with an accuracy that left me speechless! Looking forward to seeing your take on what is easily my favourite arc of the entire JJK story 🤍

DrSophieDarlingReacts

I mean there's over an hour and 40 mins of discussions and pausing to analyse haha!!

OriginalsFX

This is the least problematic mistake of all time lol

Atena

Oh, that’s unfortunate, but it is what it is. Some of the thoeries/predictions you could make from JJK0 are answered in HI arc, so you’re losing that part. But there’s still other points to discuss in the movie. On the bright side, you got to see the photo slideshow, since it was an add-on for the movie version! Also, you’re probably going to get annoying complaints on YT because you watched Hidden Inventory as a movie but Mugen Train as episodes, people take anime too seriously sometimes 😓😓😓

DrSophieDarlingReacts

I mean it was solely an accident as I didn't know they'd released 2x1 to 2x5 as a movie hahaha!! So they can bite me.

Katie

haha perfect! I really love this arc so I will look forward to it ❤️

ubiisoft

Yeah honestly, I'm not upset at all about changing the order. It might actually be more interesting to see how your analysis of the arc/movie changes from watching it in a different order than most people did. I'm eating good either way lol

Bowsber

Understand the irritation at yourself, but this is also simultaneously one of the funniest outcomes possible considering all the discussions about which to watch first!! As this is definitely the less common watch order (but imo an equally valid one too), I'm actually very interested to see your discussion on jjk0 as a result of watching hidden inventory first. You already bring a really fun and unique perspective into discussions and I'm so curious to hear your thoughts on the order you've watched things in once you get around to JJK0!

DrSophieDarlingReacts

Pure sat there like "I CAN'T WAIT TO WATCH THIS MOVIE!" Filmed for 3 hours. Was talking to my friend and they were like "oh how did you enjoy the movie?" Started telling them the plot. Was a very awkward moment of them being like "Sophie that's not the movie. That's the first 5 episodes of S2!" :')

Anonlou

I kid you not I've been checking my mail daily for the info on the movie drop XD, but oh well. I still look forward to the movie talk but I think your analyses will have changed due to seeing the first 5 episodes. Back when I watched it, the movie WAS in the drop down, BUT that 5 episode movie thing did not exist I think. Perfectly normal mistake.

Jaega

The more I think about it, the more I realize the prequel chapters may work even better in this order. JJK 0 (the actual movie) always felt a bit out of place for me, and way too short; like any other movie where you try to squeeze way too much plot into just a few hours screen time. It really needs a lot more time to work on its own, OR another prequel to set the stage for it.
