It had been leaked some time ago that they had roughly 25 animated episodes for season 1, but later they decided to split the first 25-episode season into 2 seasons instead. The anime was actually delayed quite a bit to improve the quality, so they're really not starting the second season from scratch, they already have a large part of material done. If we're lucky it could be out next year, only if we're very lucky lol It definitely won't take all those years it took for the first season, that's for sure 🙏🙏

The look Quifrey gave Coco when she was about to touch his head terrified me. There’s something off about Quifrey and it’s interesting how the Brimmed Caps are often depicted with one eye 👁️ and Quifrey only has 1 eye visible… I don’t think he’s on ‘their side’ but I don’t think Quifrey is so strictly against using forbidden magic when he needs to.

Something about the scene with Euni almost made me cry. At least in FMAB they spared us of seeing THAT transformation, but here? Ohhhh they didn't sugarcoat it. I am soooo, pissed at the Brimmed Caps. The fact he was just like "No idea what this would do, interesting" like experimenting on a child was nothing, makes me sick. They literally are just trying to push these kids (especially CoCo) into a corner so theyll do forbidden magic. And youre right! HOW would they save Euni, when they have to transform him BACK, which, is forbidden magic. How. Same with CoCos mom....even if they "reverse" the spell, its still a forbidden spell....so does that count even if its "undone"? Who knows with these people. Ahhhh Richeh...last episode she inspired Euni to create and use his own magic, just as she is so stubborn to only use her own magic. But this episode.....she's had several big realizations that because of that, she can't always help...I do think that this is a wake up call to change her mindset. That she does need to learn more spells, even those she doesnt want to, because they may come to help her, and help others. Because Agott is right, as she is, she can't do much. And that doesn't mean she has to get rid of her own magic; its not an either/or situation. It's just...too bad she's learning it this way. Okay but I have to know what's under Qifrey's other darkened lens....it is soooo mysterious, there's no way that's just for character design purposes. What a RUDE cliffhanger!! I might actually start reading the manga depending on when season 2 is supposed to come out...but I love this series so far. And i expect..it's going to get darker from here.

I was not expecting the story to turn that dark: the gross way the Brimmed Cap grabbed Agott and Euini, Euini being turned into a wolf creature, Qifrey getting injured 😰😟 Can't wait for S2, I'm hoping we get it next year!

In the Netflix version, when Agott lied to the Brimmed Hat about Coco, the translation for what she said was: “There’s no Outsider living at the atelier anymore.” It’s a subtle difference but it’s more impactful to me because she doesn’t consider Coco to be an outsider anymore. I just really love Coco and Agott’s relationship dynamic!! Poor Euini didn’t deserve this fate at all. It gets even worse when I think about how his Master would probably think he’s a lost cause and not protect him like what Quifrey is doing for the girls. Richeh getting a wake call about her limitations with her magic was also heartbreaking. I understand why she wants to do the things her own way but she’s also feeling helpless in this situation… S1 of the anime adapted up to ch23 of the manga, which is the end of volume 4. I just brought volumes 1-5 of the manga because the cliffhanger was very evil and I want to know what happens next haha.

When Qifrey talked about about the brimmed hats taking something from him my first instinct was that they took the eye that he is constantly hiding behind his hair and the one sun glass, though if it's just a normal eye that might be a bit weak of a motivation for his obsession, even if witches value good eyes, but maybe it's part of it.

When we picture witches we think of a brimmed hat, so I wonder if the decision to make them the bad guys is to play on that bias, that we inicially see them as the more natural witches, plus we see that the pointed caps are not as good and reasonable as they want to be seem. Obviously they were never that good, since they gave a book filled with spells + pen & ink to at least 1 kid, but yk. And as someone else mentioned, at least FMA had the "gentelness" of us not seeing the process, but hearing poor Euni losing himelf :( The choice of ending the season here is certainly A Choice lmao

Also, can the knights punish someone for doing forbidden magic only if someone reports it? bc if so I would def be doing at least a little bit in secret, and maybe some among the witches is/are 🤔

Poor Euni! I remain devastated by that scene D: And here I thought I would end up empathizing with the Brimmed Caps! +_+ Also, might be the worst cliffhanger season ending I've ever seen XD

Season 1 covers volumes 1 - 4 of the manga.

I don’t want to be that annoying manga reader, but the Euini scene was kinda ok in the anime. In the manga, it was so much more impactful. It really made you fear the Brimmed Caps. It was genuinely scary, but so good. I don’t think the anime gives you that same feeling. That said I love the adaptation for season 1 but I think season 2 is gonna be even better
