So many reasons to love Mitsuri, but I think one of them is that after so many backstories that are "here's how my loved ones died", her backstory is basically "here's why these men ain't shit". Absolute Queen.

Hi Sophie! Mitsuri's backstory is one of my favorite! Her hair color was an indication of it since the begining, because in manga's storytelling, colorfull hair indicates 1: main character status but also 2: a character ostracized by society. Mostly because teenagers bleach their hair as rebellion and school are really strict about not standing our. That's why Naruto has blond hair or Ichigo from Bleach gets bullied for his hair color! It must have been even more difficult for her, because of the time period! Also, something I wished was included that was only mentioned in a light novel, was that Obanai, the Serpent hashira, gifted her the socks because Misturi was unconfortable with having her legs exposed! Demon Slayer is set in the early 1900's so it adds an extra layer to mitsuri's story, it's not a tragic story like the others but it does draw attention to how life altering other things can be, especially societal 'norms' and social behaviours

Ive seen a comment somewhere saying she joined the corps for "selfish reasons" get an alarming number of likes. Apparently your whole family needs to have been wiped out in order to have a valid reason/good backstory apparently 😒

I think they're quoting Mitsuri herself as I'm pretty sure when Tanjiro asks why she joined she says for selfish reasons. It sounds familiar.

Mitsuri is super unique as a demon slayer and I’m glad you enjoy her character so much! I’ve seen one too many online discourse undermining her narrative because she doesn’t have the typical traumatic backstory you associate with demon slayer. She’s just such a breath of fresh air! As for Genya figuring out how to eat demons…boy I don’t know how he came up with it lol. He just built different I guess 😂

I love how this episode was Love vs Hatred (pretty clever). Mitsuri's OST is also another favorite, and her breathing style in general. It's gorgeous. All of the Hashira are so unique but it's cool how we have two women on different sides of the spectrum of strength. We have Shinobu, who's smaller, and can't decapitate a demon, so she has learned to hone other skillsets in order to become an amazing Hashira in her own right. And then we have Mitsuri, who in contrast is much stronger than the average woman and on par with the rest of these guys. (I absolutely ship Obani and Mitsuri) Ah yes we finally found out what's going on with Genya! .....he has ALSO found his own ways to uh, defeat demons. I guess if you can't beat them.....eat them? 😂 Season finale is probably my favorite of all 3 seasons.

imo not having a tragic backstory makes her being a demon slayer even more amazing. like shes putting her life on the line and training herself to death to be true to herself

If Genya had some entrepreneurial spirit, he could start a business selling demon flesh as an energy boost. Can you imagine the sales pitch! "Hi there, fellow Demon Slayers. Need a quick pick-me-up? Try Dr. Genya's demon delight biscuits. The snack that bites you back"🤣

I love Mitsuri's parents for being so accepting of her peculiarities but also every time the "you can stay home forever" line comes around I can't help but burst out laughing because I'm reminded of Taylor Tomlinson "potato face" joke. Taylor is a stand-up comedian and in one of her shows she talks about one time when she was ten and she asks her dad if she's ugly and her dad just sort of goes "yeah but it's not the end of the world! Look at me!" Anyway, telling her that she doesn't have to conform and that they'll support her if she stays single is totally the right answer and I stan them for it but also maybe give the girl some hope that romance is something she could maybe have if she wants to.

I think the only way Mitsuris backstory could have been better is if the man who rejected her was later shown to really want a colourfully barneted wife with the strength to juggle cars but he was also crushed by societal expectations and that's why he said no.

Glad to have you on the Mitsuri hype train! Mitsuri is my favourite Hashira because I love her design (such an iconic colour scheme) and she is literally the power of love and friendship. She’s so refreshing to have in a series as dark as Demon Slayer because despite her not having a tragic backstory (don’t get me wrong, it’s still heartbreaking that she felt she couldn’t be true to herself because of pathetic men) she is still incredibly badass and strong- a lot of characters in Demon Slayer are shaped by their trauma and use that as a source of strength but Mitsuri is just built different literally lol. I also love how her attacks don’t really have any flashy effects like everyone else’s because her sword and movements are already enough on their own, though I do appreciate the cat sounds and how cute her form names are Personally, even though season 3 has more of my favourite characters in the spotlight, I prefer the entertainment district arc because of how tense and atmospheric it was especially after the Upper Six reveal with Gyutaro and Daki. HOWEVER I love how almost looney-tunes-esque the fight with the Hantengus have become especially with the tiny little man running about. Also Zohakuten’s theme is so insanely good, the music itself sounds powerful and almost godlike which fits with his aesthetic and abilities (again, the Hantengus have the coolest Blood Demon Arts in my absolutely biased opinion) Can’t wait to see what you think of the season finale! Season 4 has only 8 episodes and then you’ll be all caught up with the movie which is wild to think about- I’m really looking forwards to watching your movie reaction when you get to it because your thoughts and analysis really help me appreciate and love this series even more
