Todo’s speech to Yuji is one of my favorite moments in the series because it strips away all the usual shonen hero talk. Jujutsu sorcerers aren’t heroes or saviors—they’re people doing a brutal job that no one will ever thank them for. Yuji can’t erase what happened or pretend it didn’t have consequences. The only thing he can do now is carry that weight, honor the people who sacrificed everything to get him this far, and keep fighting. Sometimes that’s all a jujutsu sorcerer can do.

It is time for some Hope. Even a little bit.

My fav episode of season 2! Thank you for watching the show 🥂🥺

Bits and bytes

That transition from them laughing to Nobara’s body was foul. Another tear jerker - Yuji being at his breaking point, Todo’s speech, Mechamaru’s last moments with Miwa. Gosh, give me a break, I was sniffling with you. 😭 Love that you talked about the parallel of our trio with the Gojo-Geto-Shoko trio. 😭😭

Just in time!! I'd put them off because watching 2x18 and 2x19 together without the catharsis of this episode is just too much for me to handle but I finally folded and watched them anyway earlier today. SO happy to see this in my notifications right after

Ended up crying twice when first watched this ep, and i still always cry to the miwa/mechamaru convo. Wonderful reaction as always, can't wait for the final 3 eps of this season!

So back in your reaction to episode 6 of this season, Yuji brought up the “Human Earthworm” movie that’s always referenced throughout the series. You made a comment asking like “Oh is it based off the Human Centipede movies?”, which caught me off guard mainly because no other reactor I’ve watched even thought about if that movie could have another meaning to the narative besides comic relief. The movie is actually based off Frankenstein, where Mahito is a parallel to be the monster. The physical stitches on the face, Frankensteins monster is made of human body parts, while Mahito made of negative human emotions. Just like Frankensteins monster killed his loved ones to torment him, Mahito does the same to Yuji. And the theme of morality as well, where you can’t really “blame” the monster or Mahito for the way they act, it’s how they were created. The doctor spends the whole movie condemning the monster for his actions but never himself for creating it, the same way humans don’t take responsibility for their hate and malicious tendencies.

The power of Todo healed Sophie.

I do absolutely love that when Yuji regained the will to fight and was remembering Nanami's last words to him, he didn't remember him half burnt almost dead, he remembered how he really was in life.

Your reactions to this ep were just all so good, it's such a rollercoaster of emotions with Todo coming in and my heart just can't even keep up with the hype and the emotions all at once. This will always be one of my favourite JJK episodes I think, so much of the heart and soul of the story is represented here. Todo's speech has stuck with me since reading it several years ago for example, 'What have you been entrusted with' is unbelievably powerful and is a phrase that makes me tear up every time I think of it. Nitta's role is also SO underrated imo. The things he does to ground Yuji, to give him hope and pick him back up while also being realistic is just adorable, he speaks so softly and calmly to him too. This won't come up later, so for a little info from manga extras, Arata Nitta is the sole first year student of the Kyoto school, and the younger brother of Akari Nitta (the blond assistant who looked after our main trio with the bridge curse in S1, and who Nobara was defending in Shibuya against the annoying miracles guy)

That's very interesting. I never put together Mahito's likeness to Frankenstein but then I've only seen the 2025 movie and haven't read Mary Shelley's actual book so it doesn't immediately jump to the forefront of my mind. Pretty shit PhD in Literature aren't I for not clocking on?! 😂

Speaking of Mahito’s technique: he literally DOESNT need to turn other people into weapons! He’s shown that he’s able to turn his own arms into blades and hammers, but he turns other people into weapons just for the fun of it

Goldie

Todo’s moments in Shibuya (this ep and next) are some of my favourite scenes of the entire show. Mappa loves Todo and so do I 🥹

Sonja Seren

Unrelated your top looks amazing! I love anything with a star pattern on it.

Guru_Rick_

it was so clear on yuji's face that he was ready to give up but luckily todo reminded him with such an important thing as they are not heroes and despite everything they have to keep going

Junior

both yuji and mahito are jujustu prodigies despite being on the complete opposing side which is what i love about their dynamic

Fae

God damn Mahito's voice actor is incredible. Sounds soft and even kind normally, but sounds absolutely psychotic the deeper Mahito gets immersed into battle and his natural obsession of being a horrible curse. I can't even imagine Mahito sounding like anything else, it fits so perfectly.

Henrik Mortensen

Oh my god Sophie. Your face when you first hear Todo clap and you go from processing it and just smiling ear to ear when you realize it means Todo is there. Might be your cutest reaction so far. Love this episode, while Todo is the GOAT, the moment between Miwa and Mechamaru is for me the best part of the episode. Having Mechamaru tell Miwa that he knows he messed up, that realized his mistake was essentially chasing the wrong thing. Makes me tear up every time. Looking forward to your 2x21 reaction.

Leah Henderson

I cheered like a maniac when Todo showed up. What perfect timing because the despair was getting to be too much! XD

Violet

Miwa and Mechamaru's farewell gets me every. single. time. I love how the intimacy of the moment captures you as the audience.
