2026-10-21 12:00 I’m not going to be sleeping tonight, am I? (It’s 2:00am where I am.) fuck it, we ball Where even to BEGIN with this movie? Everyone’s stories, the animation, the parallels and hidden meanings, everything was so amazingly written and beautifully executed! And I say this as someone who’s read the entire manga. I genuinely cannot wait for the next movie to drop!

The callbacks, the leitmotifs, and the way that Hakuji’s theme is just Akaza’s in a different chord… Wonderful storytelling through music.

A lot of people spot the snowflake in his compass, but miss that his BDA also involves the fireworks he saw with Koyuki!

Yes please, a ds manga read through would be really great. Plus you would be then able to watch the next 2 movies and theatre and see how much Ufotable improved on the manga because part 1, especially the Akaza fight was so much shorter in the manga

2026-10-21 12:00 I've been refreshing patreon since last 6 hours waiting for this 😄. I am not gonna be the one to say no, don't pick up the manage as I myself read all of it after season 1 because I really wanted to know the whole story but I will say this, Sophie your reaction will be still something I look forward to even after you do read the manga . IMO, ufotable has done the manga and the author justice with their passion and faithful adaptation with really great choices of anime only scenes.

I probably wouldn't watch them in cinema still and would wait for them to come on streaming platforms so then I can film a react! :) Even if I continue I'd still be able to do a first react to the movies and compare!

Ervin

Yeah that would be great too. Anyway, I would defintely recommend doing a manga reaction because it's great. And if you are going to do a manga reaction you should start on chapter 157

Ryuga

I haven't watched the reaction yet - but I did read the caption. If you do decide to do the manga, obviously there's the option of reading it yourself. However I do recommend diavolo's manga narration on youtube. He has all of demon slayer on it and the videos are really immersive in my opinion. I have watched them several times and I couldn't recommend it enough if you do decide to go that route! You could also watch some of the manga narration for parts of the anime you've already seen and see if it's your tea or not - but I highly recommend (obvs if you don't just decide to read it straight up yourself). Can't wait to react to today's episodes, thank you for the content :)

Clerence Vhaldu

Please don't read the manga, your first time reactions are the best. But if you do please share the reading reaction with us.

DrSophieDarlingReacts

I would be reading it myself otherwise there's no point of analysing if I'm just listening to someone else whose interpretation I may not agree with :)

Goldie

I JUST FINISHED EP 8 AND NOW ITS TIME FOR PAIN

Goldie

^ what it feels like to watch infinity castle

Ryuga

I def understand that, the vids he does is narration not really an opinionated type videos so not much input other than them just page reading but I look forward to you reading it yourself if you decide you can't wait for the movies (I legit cannot blame you the wait is ridiculous). I'm hoping they saw the popularity of the first movie and get the stream release going faster for the second one instead of milking it with like a year long theater reshowings. I could not be the reactors that waited like 3+ years for the movie talk about strength of wills

Nerf Or Nothing

My assumption with Zenitsus custom breathing style was him subconsciously when he was both sleep fighting and training at the butterfly mansion absorbing elements of Hinokami Kagura from observing Tanjiro, the same way Tanjiro did to a greater extent. The visual similarity has to be intentional. I also assume the visuals for the breathing styles are demon slayers are in some way derived from the transparent world, with Demonic blade weilders using the supernatural demon power to physically manifest them, the same way Gyoturo used actual blood to form his ranged attacks. And the animation is EXQUISITE

rxin11

finally been introduced to how truly goated Akaza is

Citrine

well it’s 1 am now and I have a headache from crying haha 😅

Kmoney

I don’t know if you realize but doma powers were ice and they mention in s4 your body temp needs to be really high for the demon slayer mark so yeah…

Wsgyan

I love when reactors do read through !!

RCJ

Absolutely read the manga I’m down. The movies will still be a whole other experience once they all release & you’ll enjoy them just as much imo

Nerf Or Nothing

Akaza was turning people into donuts from day 1 god damn

Raziel Star

So from reading the comments I might be in the minority, but knowing what happens in the manga, I believe a blind reaction to the movies will be really really good. However if you choose the manga route I'll still support of course, also to add it's a bit of selfishness or bias on my behalf as I usually enjoy blind reactions(in regards to shows & movies) from reactors. Just wanted to share an opposing sentiment but again majority rules and to be clear again I'm still going to support, I enjoy your commentary as well. Also the wait would be grueling so I understand that too ha ha.

Aksor

I'm so happy u liked this movie ! If u want to read the manga u can pick up at chapter 157 ! It's the ending of the movie at the start of the chapter and then here we go ! (The manga end at 205 so ~50 chapter to read ! )

Ryuga

When I saw this in theaters, shinobu's first attack on Douma when she pierced his eyeball literally jumpscared me it was so fast and loud I think it's glazed by a little too quickly but it's actually an insane feat of strength to create a new form for a breathing technique that's been around for literal centuries. Zenitsu is truly the goat. Also I love Yushiro the brat that he is I absolutely love the involvement of the lower core members and their attempts to assist throughout the movie. Remember during the beginning when they said the demons were given lower-rank powers so they seriously got strong to be able to take on these demons. Akaza swinging at his demons is so funny to me when I imagine the other person's PoV Giyu is hilarious "My back hurts" -> unlocks demon slayer mark also the fact that he unlocked it before anyone else after the meeting after saying Sabito would and not him Giyu I think was a great matchup for Akaza since I think it was mentioned earlier on in the anime but water breathing is a very defensive breathing style. With how aggressive Akaza is this was probably extremely helpful. I love all the scenes with Tanjiro's dad. I wish we got more of him but I do like how special the flashbacks feel due to this. A really cool fact about the animation sequence of Akaza's final form he used+tanjiro's transparent world is that the studio shifted to mostly digital drawings but Nozomu Abe (one of their most famous in house vets of the studio responsible for other insane sequences in other anime) made a request to draw this sequence as quite possibly one of their final paper hand-drawn sequences. It was around 5000 drawings When Tanjiro gave himself away my entire theater was flabbergasted it was pretty funny I wish deep down that Akaza was given a similar treatment to Daki and given the chance to go towards the light. I mean really, I get he was 18 when he did it but he really still felt like a kid that was nonconsensually turned into a demon after such an agonizing experience. I understand he killed 67 people as a human but... I think we can all look away from that Anyways, I think we can all agree the backstory obliterated all of us. I think in another life Rengoku and Akaza would have been best friends. The Infinity Castle itself, not even just the movie - is such an absurd structure that was prebuilt by Ufotable - It's a massive 3D CGI construction using millions of digital assets. I would recommend if you ever have the time to watch the 10 minute Oscar submission video that Ufotable submitted that goes over the art and animation. There is some insanely interesting stuff in there. It's on YouTube titled " The Ufotable Team Breaks Down The Animation of 'Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle'" if you ever get curious! That concludes my watch of your reaction though. Thorough and insightful as always. Thank you! Glad you're feeling better

Mickael Landry

Dismissing Demon Slayer as a show 'carried solely by animation' is such a lazy take. 🥱 It completely glosses over how rich and intentional the storytelling actually is behind Ufotable's visuals. 🎨✨ Small details that look like throwaway moments on a first watch are actually meticulously crafted. 🧩 Take Tanjiro shouting Akaza’s name right before the decisive blow 🗣️⚔️, it seems simple, but it carries immense narrative weight. ⚖️ In the Selfless State, Tanjiro was totally invisible to Akaza's Compass Needle. 🌫️🧭 Technically, he had every advantage to execute a silent backstab 🗡️💀, but Tanjiro’s core honor made a cowardly attack fundamentally impossible.🙅🏽 Akaza despised cowards above all else. 🥋 A silent backstab would have humiliated him, sparking pure rage 😡🔥 and driving his body to regenerate his head out of spite just to destroy an 'unworthy' opponent. 🔄🦾 By calling him out, Tanjiro gave Akaza a clean, honorable duel. 🤝 That total absence of malice satisfies Akaza's warrior pride, allowing his human memories to resurface 🌸👥 and enabling Koyuki to finally reach his soul. ❄️💖 Tanjiro didn't defeat Akaza through power scaling, he earned his respect, causing Akaza to choose surrender!🙏🏻 That is absolute top-tier writing hidden right behind elite animation! 📝🎞🎥🫶🏻🫶🏾🫶🏼

DrSophieDarlingReacts

Bestie I'm going to be 36 by the time I can finish Demon Slayer. Whose to say I'll even be doing reactions at that point. It's a very long time to have to wait for 2028 and 2030 to complete a story :') I wouldn't be adverse to blind reactions if they weren't insistent on completing the story with movies and leaving a year between cinema release and streaming. No other series does that.

DrSophieDarlingReacts

Well it wasn't missed on a first watch because I discussed it? Also no onedismissed Demon Slayer so your point seems really out of context as it's implying that I or others have said that?

Mickael Landry

I know you did ;) I was speaking to a wider audience here, folks who've consistently overlooked those intricate details that reveal just how layered this series truly is. Specifically, for anyone who originally suggested you skip Demon Slayer, claiming it had weak storytelling. I'm genuinely glad you trusted your gut and gave Demon Slayer a real shot.

Raziel Star

Yea that’s completely understandable especially given how the pacing is with their releases. Like the second part could be 2028 for streaming, which is a really long time. I’ll be watching your manga reactions as well when you post them in the future if you do that.

Bits and bytes

All the homies hate Kaigaku. I know this fight had to be for Zenitsu to handle alone, but I definitely kept thinking “tag me in, coach!” The scene with Gramps saying Zenitsu was his pride and joy? Decimated me. I cried so much throughout this movie.

Bits and bytes

I can’t edit my comment for some reason but I just wanted to add since I just got to this part in your reaction. The comment about the theme of the dragon and the tiger triggered a memory to Rengoku’s fight with Akaza. We see the dragon appear in Giyuu’s water technique, but I’m pretty sure one of Rengoku’s manifested as a tiger. It’s been so long, but I swear it was. How interesting between the two elements we’d get the tiger and the dragon. I never would have recalled it. If not for your comment about it. I don’t know if that was the intent from early for the story, but wow.

Anna Kyruin

I don't think the mangaka necessarily expected readers to immediately identify the boy who tormented Zenitsu and the one who betrayed Gyoume on sight, but rather that the necklace he wears which is the focus of much of what we see of him would be a clue for those who were paying close attention. So don't feel bad for not putting two and two together. I did, but that's because I'd watched a bunch of reactions to the earlier seasons, not just seen the episode he appears in the one time.

Mateo_Tano

She said it! She said Akaza's final attack looked like fireworks! She said the thing!

Toamsz Kozak

If you want, there's also a fan animator on YT who's done a fan animation for the entire infinity castle arc https://youtu.be/yB3WG4ipn0M?is=I69UUb-rRt7nr6Lo here you have what will be in the 2 movie and he also not long ago finished animating the final battle so if you want you can chęci this out . The naimation is really top not for fan animation and voice acting also is really good

fuwafuwari~

The "heh??" at 02:05:48 killed me 😭😭

WillDaBeast Grasslands

I'm pretty sure the beginning lyrics of Shinobu's theme song once the vocals come in is something like "now you must be strong, even though you feel small," and now I can't listen to it without tearing up a little. Especially during the douma fight 😭

Dylan Pisani

Doma's the king of backhanded compliments 😭

Dylan Pisani

If you decide to read the manga, there are some really well colored versions online. Imo the better experience, but some people like black and white 🤷

DrSophieDarlingReacts

I just had to go back and look and it was a tiger but he also had a dragon form too! So he's the only one so far with the tiger. So that's Rengoku, Giyu, Tanjiro, and Zenitsu with dragon manifestations!

Ervin

I wouldn't recommend her this video because, while it is good and I respect the animators and va's for doing this, I think experiencing the manga would be so much better

Mateo_Tano

What a movie, I think at this point I can't say anything more like that. About reading the manga instead of waiting for movie 2... At this point of story I'd tell you to wait for the movies but I get waiting 2/4 years is a bit much, so... If you decide to read the manga I think you'll need to read a bit of what's in this movie cause they left out something that they'll probably add in movie 2

Bambi

I love the contrast between the anime and manga for this series, so seeing your reaction for both would be amazing! There's no matching Ufotable's action sequences or environments so the movies will still feel very fresh even knowing the story beforehand (at least that's how this movie felt for me as a reader). It's my personal opinion that Gotouge's greatest strengths as a mangaka are in their paneling and pacing, especially towards the end of the story here it's so easy to get sucked in and just keep reading until the finale. Volume 18 begins with the end of Akaza's fight and his backstory then Chapter 157 is the beginning of new content, but all the books are full of little bonus illustrations and author's notes so it will be enjoyable regardless of where you start :)

Zarroc

Yeah sure, I'll cry today. Great movie or whatever, Ufotable... Lol, I love Akaza sm. Also Screw Doma but he's a great demon lol

2026-10-22 13:00 I apologize, I should have phrased my comment differently to avoid giving you the impression that I was directing criticism at you personally. 😅 You've consistently argued from the start and season 1 that the widespread criticism about Demon Slayer's storytelling is unfair, and I'm finding myself agreeing with your analysis once again through this film.

This was by FAR my best Movie Theater experience

Vivasvan Gautam

Manga read would be great. But just in case if you decide to wait, it will also be totally worth it. DS is a golden goose; its anime and movies have brought in lots and lots of revenue for ufotable, and they will absolutely maintain this level of artistry, fight choreography, music composition, voice acting, and animation quality throughout the remaining storyline as well. I personally have enjoyed anime but I also succumbed to the pressure of just picking up manga eventually because it was getting too much. If you can hold it together, nothing but mad level of respect to you, Dr Sophie, but in case you decide to read it all, then it's totally understandable lol.

Sp1rit

In my mind, Hakuji was finally freed of his demon body. Akaza had to go to hell while Hakuji went to heaven with Koyuki :))

Legend

I would love a manga reaction from you !!!!

st4rmin

I love Akaza so muchh he's top3 character for me, not only because of his heartbreaking backstory, but because he was always a very respectable demon unlike others, he was definitely the most human like

Anish Shil

Rengoku died to Akaza, Shinobu died to Doma, that means some hashira is dying in the upcoming Upper Moon 1 fight. Also, the last scene with Kokushibo where he cuts down the pillars, is symbolic because hashira literally means “pillar”.

DrSophieDarlingReacts

He truly was. There was an admiration for others in a way that made him appealing. He wasn't arrogant.

Carbon

I was on the plane ugly crying to Akaza's story. I was sitting in the isle seat. It was embarrassing.

Mina E.D

This is my interpretation too. I really hope that would be the case. I think about Hakuji at least once per day. The boy deserved his second chance

WillDaBeast Grasslands

It's my own head cannon that Hakuji technically went to "hell," but since his family went with him, they turned what would have been his hell, into his heaven. The same goes for his family. A lot of religious references in anime are usually symbolic moreso than literal, so there's a lot of room for interpretation. I don't think the writing was meant to suggest that Hakuji is suffering in hell eternally along with his family (like a lot of people believe); I think that's a bit silly. If anything, in my opinion, it suggests that Hakuji will forever feel the guilt and helplessness of feeling like he failed his loved ones, even when most of it wasn't his fault. For him, that's what hell is, what it feels like, and his acknowledgement of that is what I believe the symbolism of hell is here. However, his family being there for them in the end, loving him the same as they always have, is what I believe begins to heal the torment, trauma, and guilt that stayed with him for so long.

Mina E.D

The tears is what got me. It makes sense that the demon Shinobu has personal beef with is one who has the most disingenuous personality. Nothing for her to sympathise with

Pina Simon

Something that makes me angry about this fandom is that they say Shinobu's a fraud for not being able to defeat Douma and because she can't behead demons. But here's the thing, intellect also counts towards might, speed counts towards might. A demon slayer that is only strong will get blitzed when a mildly fast demon gets past their defenses. Shinobu pioneered this new fighting art where she mixed a new poison for every demon she killed in the correct assumption that they shared something like a hive mind and information and it worked so well that she rose to the higher rank in the Corps. If she's a fraud then, all of the Corps is too because ask of her something no one but maybe Yorichii would be able to do. People forget that there's only two Demons that are stronger than Douma and that each Upper Moon is a magnitude of strength better than the last one. Akaza can regenerate his head, if Kanao or maybe some other Demon Slayers that might come to her aid managed to kill Douma by beheading him it's thanks to all the poison Shinobu pumped him up with.

Pina Simon

Also, I think I left a comment in some past episode talking about a lot of Hashiras not being mentor material and making an exception for Shinobu, amongst others and saying that bc she obviously has Kanao and "another thing Shinobu says in Infinity Castle". I was referring to the line she says about having other Tsugukos that died. Anyway, RIP my overworked single mother of 5, she was teaching fighting to Kanao, healing to Aoi, teaching other students at some other point, being a pharmacist, a doctor, concocting poisons, directing the medical wing of HQ and doing Hashiras work. The Barbie of Demon Slayer fr.

Pina Simon

Heheheh, would you look at that, someone started using Water Breathing again when in proximity to Giyuu...imitating his older brother I see...

Gpinko

Demon Slayer has a special place in my heart. It was the first anime I chose, and watched by myself, at a time when I didn't watch anime unless I was with friends. At the time, only Season 1 was out, and I binged it immediately. I adore Tanjiro, and this beautiful story. Ah, Shinobu...her death was unfortunately spoiled for me earlier on, but it still sucked. We all wanted her to win, and avenge her sister, but alas, she didn't get to fulfill that wish...maybe. Your theory about her is very interesting. Also. The way she died with Doma is the most disgusting way I've seen so far in Demon Slayer, anddd I can't watch her being absorbed into his body 😂 it's so uncomfortable for me for some reason compared to everything else. I reallyyyy hope Kanao gets backup from one of our other characters. Doma is going to be difficult. Your absolute hatred for him was great 😂 actually probably one of the most enraged I've witnessed so far. His carefree attitude is so off putting, in a way where like, I think he 80% genuinely believes he is saving these people. He's so infuriating haha. ZENITSUUUU MY BOY ⚡️ I loved everything about that fight. He was AWAKE and he was LOCKED IN! He created his own Thunder Breathing Form 😭 The only thing I will thank Kaigaku for is getting to see the other Thunder Breathing styles. But that's it. His appearance honestly shocked me, and even moreso, what happened to Gramps...That he wasn't even killed by anyone out of malice, but he took his own life out of shame and sin because of his student. Heartbreaking. Seeing Giyu fight Akaza was everything. Honestly my favorite fight I never knew I needed to see. The fact he unlocked his mark because of back pain is SO real 😂🤣 (not really why, but it's funny to simplify it that way) Damn I'd be livid too.

Gpinko

And AKAZA....I said it in Season 2, and I say it with even more conviction, but he was my favorite demon then, and that just amplified x3 now. I love everything about him. His design, his techniques, fighting style, VA, his OST, his backstory, I could go on. Like you said the genuine respect he had for strong fighters, and we see where that came from (subconscously). He really was a kind person handed a shit life, then got a second chance at peace and that was ripped away from him. I loved that he was able to escape Muzan's curse, in a way, and become Hakkuji again and surrender his life. I doubt any other demon has been able to not only try to surpass his demon form, but then let go entirely to pass on. Hakuji truly had the strongest will. Most people came in hyped to get revenge for Rengoku and by the end we are all sobbing for Hakuji lol. How I can equally love Rengoku and Akuza/Hajuki is insane, but here we are. And i truly believe...in another life, he and Rengoku would have been BFFs. Anyway, this is crazy long, but it's the last comment for Demon Slayer for however long so, I'm so glsd to have joined you in your journey for this! I haven't read the manga, so if you do decide to continue on, maybe I'll join you for that, too. Until then!

Seryu Ubiquitous

even if im repeating myself, the animations and music just managed to even surpass the last episode. it was such an awsome watch. but of course all those emotions. sure sophie had to be right and the first one we had to lose was shinobu. that was really sad to see how she fought until her last breath but it sadly wasnt enough. and then kanao who had to watch her death was so heartbreaking. her scream really pierced through me. really hoping she get her revenge on doma. even so i have to say i somewhat understandt domas point of view. not that i agree with him in killing humans and i dont like his arrogance but i understand his realistic and maybe even nihilistic mindset and his dislike of religion. then zenitsus fight. how much has this character grown and grown on me. i remember when we first saw him and i really disliked him first. i thought he would be just some kind of comic relief, a bit like inosuke but much worse. but from season to season i liked him more and this movie made him one of my favorite characters. so happy he got his revenge. and then the akaza fight. was that a good time we had with rank 4 and 5 who were just really bad persons even in their human life (even so we only saw one of their backstorys if im not wrong). dont have to feel bad when the evil demon finally is slayed but no, we have to get the most heartbreaking backstory. even so akaza killed person in his human life, i still hope he can go into some kind of heaven. i think he would deserve it. not only because of all his hardships in his human life, also because he never chose to become a demon AND he technicly finished himself to end the neverending killing he was forced to do. yeah, i still think tanjiro defeated him first by "destroying" his fightin spirit but akaza released himself at the end. and i really feel you for crying so much. i cant feel much emotion normaly but in this serie and especially in this movie it really intensivied. even so this was the third time watching it and it still hits me. and seeing your emotions during the reaction is like a multipliere and i hits even harder. anyways: amazing movie and of course a fantastic reaction. thanks for this adventure and lets meet again for the final movies.

Pina Simon

Do please read the manga, ever since s1 you either get things so right or there's moments where the dramatic irony kills me and I need to see the realizations while I'm still young of the manga spoilery parts.

Beezy0323

Love the reaction. If you didn't notice or no one has said Akaza doesn't kill women. It's the reason even if we didn't understand why till now everyone he has respect for but he absolutely hates Doma. It's because Doma goes mostly after beautiful women and those weak sickly and vulnerable. Now we understand why Akaza hates his guts and wants him dead and is repulsed by him.

Poison8Ivy

such a beautiful movie!!! I have watched a lot of reactions and loved every one of them... and I cried every time on Akaza back story. the fact that he was one of the demons that didn't have a choice, Muzan blow out his brain, so he had no choice or memories ... I've been a martial artist my whole life, second degree black belt in tie kwon do so I love Akaza's fighting style and his look. lol him, Gyutaro and Umi are amazing characters and my favorite demons, and now after watching this movie I love all 3 of them so much more!! and Sophie i love your reactions! keep up the amazing work and remember to always clear your mind. don't over work yourself and stay healthy!

Mina E.D

Its the perfect weapon against a demon slayer

Mina E.D

One would have thought that his trauma had to do with donuts

foxboy64

i have a headcannon for how akaza managed to start evolving suddenly to survive without his head. it relates to the "transparent world" in a sense. the moment his head disintegrated, his thoughts did to, at least for a moment. since he was already close to reaching this state, for an instant his body was selfless, but not quite dead. every other demon we've seen has had their head disintegrate last. akaza is the first to have their head disintegrate first. additionally Muzan had previously hinted in the show that the reason the upper ranks haven't been evolving has been their insistence on clinging to their humanity. the demons probably all resist their head disintegrating above all else to preserve their selves. but akaza wanted to reach that selfless state, and let his head go first to do it. without his humanity holding him back his body instantly mutated to be a form like muzan, where only sunlight could kill him. then when his sense of self started coming back, the regeneration started slowing back down, and ultimately when he fully chose his humanity is when he let go and passed on.

Mickael Landry

Haha, I agree with you across the board, especially about Zenitsu and Giyu (the joke about unlocking the mark because of lower back pain is so real 😂🔥)! Zenitsu being fully awake, locked in, and creating his own Seventh Form was an absolute masterpiece of a moment; seeing him finally step up and put Kaigaku in his place after everything he put Gramps through was so satisfying yet heartbreaking. And Giyu versus Akaza? Pure cinema. Watching Giyu push past his limits, unlocking his mark right alongside Tanjiro, delivered one of the best choreographed and emotionally gripping clashes in the entire series. ⚡️🌊🔥 But let me tease you a bit: can we really call Shinobu's death a spoil? If memory serves me right, think back to that grim, serious conversation she had with Kanao, handing her final instructions on how to defeat her sister's killer. That scene smelled like a tragic end from a mile away! The writing dropped massive hints: she was heading straight to her doom against that monster. 😉 And speaking of that monster... you are so right to highlight Sophie's absolute rage against Doma! It furiously reminded me of the visceral hatred she used to harbor for Mahito in JJK. When you think about it, it's no coincidence: Doma and Mahito share those exact same personality traits; that fake, detached smile, absolute sadism, and the sick pleasure of toying with their prey while spitting nonsense. Two cosmic punchlines! 🤡🔪

I'm guessing you're saving that fourth spot for Akasa, am I right haha? 😁

And with this, you have reached the point where I am also stuck into. I am not a manga reader, just anime only. So I dont know how much am I allowed to theorize and say my opinions about what I think is going to happen. RIP My beloved Shinobu, you were perfect as you were my dear.

Gpinko

Oh Shinobus foreshadowing was there, but I had seen actual spoilers from art so that was upsetting 😂 even if the foreshadowing is there I don’t like being outright spoiled ahead of time haha it was unfortunate

Gpinko

LOL 😂 I’ve always had a weird respect for Akaza even though I hated him for killing Rengoku I sure liked him more than Jamie Lannister 😂

This was such an amazing experience, the next movie can’t come soon enough… I was anticipating your reaction to Shinobu’s death since you predicted it so early, but it still hurts to watch, and such a horrible way to go out too… despite her physical limitations she was a force to be reckoned with and even Doma recognised that in his own condescending way, I need Kanao to avenge her sisters asap 🙏 Fun fact! The snowflake motif and fireworks aren’t the only thing Akaza retained from his memories of Koyuki, the criminal tattoo markings in his demon form warped to resemble the character 雪 for the “Yuki” in her name meaning snow. He loved her so much </3

Words can't describe how much I love Akaza's backstory as well as the timing of it. They could have made this battle a pure victory moment for the slayers, but we end up feeling so bad for Hakuji/Akaza. I think about this man's story a lot and how unfair life has been to him. I watched a couple reactions where they hated Akaza and minutes before the backstory they were like "nope, idc youre not gonna make me feel bad". Aaannnd they were sobbing after all was revealed. Its very hard not to feel for him. I love Zenitsu ⚡️so much and I'm so glad he got such a big moment in this movie, but so sad that he had to experience such earth shattering grief and betrayal to unlock that state we get to see.

Mateo_Tano

Is chapter 157 the one with the Kokushibo and Douma scenes? Cause if so she needs to read a bit of a precious chapter that was probably pushed to movie 2 (the letter)

ohreoreos

Some people on youtube actually animated the next part of infinity castle and in decent quality too!

José Abelheira

You wondered who would kill Akaza, Tanjiro or Giyu. Well, Akaza was so strong that only his memories could defeat him. RIP the Upper Moon that nobody could beat but himself.

AnnaChicky

oh hey, didn't expect to see you here :D

Hehe, what's good fren

I had so many thoughts while watching this reaction, I had to write some down! 1. It amuses me to think, if you got a Rengoku tattoo, how much would that interfere with your everyday life? Every time you glance down would be an emotional trial. --------------------------- 2. I absolutely caved after Swordsmith village (which was as far as the anime was at when I watch it it) and read the manga. I went back and read from the beginning, and was glad I did. I dont think it's as necessary with Demon Slayer, as the anime is VERY faithful to the manga. It was just a good experience and helped me adapt to the art style. I would recommend maybe going back as far as the end of the Swordsmith village arc so you have some run up to the current point youre at. Plus, the Hashira training arc is REALLY short in the manga, so it wouldnt be many chapters. --------------------------- 3. Favorite moments from you: (I think when Kaiguku died) "Deserved. What a dick." Flawless delivery (When Tanjiro revealed Giyu's name to Akaza) "Oh, well, for fuck's sake Tanjiro." LOL --------------------------- 4. You pointed out the color duality in the backgrounds behind Tanjiro and Akaza (great catch, never noticed that!). I started paying attention to it, and noticed that when Akaza started having the memories of his mentor creep in, the "human" color started creeping in over his shoulder until he swung back and dispelled it. And when he was trying to prevent his head from regenerating, the background was entirely the "human" color. At least I'm pretty sure (I'm colorblind). --------------------------- 5. This movie was phenomenal and did a GREAT job adapting the manga. So I'll just mention the one flaw I felt it had. The first time i watched it with a friend, we both felt like the pacing was really off. Many shounen anime especially have atrocious pacing for fights scenes as they drag them out. Demon Slayer has always been the opposite (although things got a little dragged out in Swordsmith Village). In this movie though, as my friend put it, "I've never seen a movie that milked every scene this much." I think it makes it easier to react to (more time during to process), but there were definitely some fight scenes where the tension went out of it for me because things were just repeating for a while so the animators could flex, and I knew nothing was going to happen.

Chistopher Sapp

I couldnt wait either lol. If you end up making the same choice as me, look up comickey on youtube. He animated both of the final two movies and its almost word for word the same as the Manga. And id argue the second movie is going to be better than this one.

Santiago Tamez

I not crying… you are crying 😭 haha this movie…

Sorcerer

Go ahead and read the manga. There are so many twists and turns to come. For me the joy is watching it finally animated. Doma's downfall is quite satisfying.

Koral

"It almost looks like fireworks" The squeal I squoted when you said that
