Vileroot Road [40x30] [4K] [jpg/webp] (Patreon)

Plumes of thick fog snake between the gnarled trees. A handful of misty ferns and toxic mushrooms seems to be all that can prosper down in these woods. Foul winds and corroding clouds get trapped in the valley by the surrounding mountains, carving the land into a foreboding landscape. The locals behind the hill say that, to these days, this forest is still haunted by the spirits of a damned witch coven. The Church got rid of the bodies, but could never exorcise their ghosts.

Scenario Hook : Fangs in the fog (Base variation)

The heart of the Vileroot wood is always covered by an enchanted fog. Once trapped in, travellers cannot leave the wood. Reaching any side of the map teleports the creature token to another path as it quickly loses itself in the fog.

The mists are the hunting ground of a group of local creatures calles the Fogfangs, which prey on travellers bold enough to venture into their accursed lair. Dispatching the monsters will rid the wood of its magical miasma.

Scenario Hook : Blazing skirmish (Fire variation)

As the inferno encroaches evermore on the burning wood, the air grows thick with deadly smoke. As battle progresses, after 3 rounds, all creatures must make a DC 10 Constitution Saving throw at the start of their turn. The DC increases by 2 on each turn forward. A creature that fails this saving throw gains a level of exhaustion. Creatures that don't need to breathe are immune to this effect. A creature that finds a way to protect itself (through magical means or with a cloth, for example) receives advantage on this saving throw. All levels of exhaustion gained in this way disappear after a short rest (preferably away from the fire).
