Omg so excited for this! one of my fave shows on Netflix ♥️

Jennifer Carrigg

I had saved this to my queue to check out, but I’d rather watch it with you guys! Yayy!!

Jonathan Day

Yes, please! If you’re like me, this show really took me by surprise, and I loved every minute of it.

Dd44 🩷💜💙

omg im so excited my day just got 10x better ahhh

Ethan Murphy

Omg yes!! Enjoy the show guys, its fantastic!!

Ryan Kelly

yess!! I had so much fun watching it

Nikita Hankinson

Yay!!!! I'm so happy you are doing this one first!!

Ines Koivisto

this show is so good i'm so happy to watch it again with you guys!!!!

Dani

Love it!!!

Abby Austin

words cannot describe how happy i am that you’re starting with this show literally screaming

Chris Mackenzie

Gatho is a gathering; we like to shorten everything and put an O on the end of it, I.e. "Bottle-O" is a bottle shop, "Avo" is Avocado, "Defo" is definitely, "Servo" is a service or petrol station etc.

Diane Furlong

Aren’t you the Sneaky ones this evening!!!! I know nothing about this show so it’s time to go to school.

Nikita Hankinson

A lot of people have praised this show as it seems to get gen z spot on but honestly this is pure nostalgia for me. I'm a millennial who grew up just north of Sydney and so many of my high school experiences were the same. I think this is just fantastic representation of an Australian high school. Cemetery parties are definitely a thing too. And yes the "C word" is often used as a term of endearment. Looking forward to episode 2!!!

Rachel

I wasn't sure you guys would want to cover this one, only because the main character isn't queer. But this may have been the funniest episode yet of you two! haha haha

Dd44 🩷💜💙

This Series is very generation z (my generation). The queer representation is definitely very present and I'm sure you guys will enjoy this one a lot this is my 4th time rewatching so I'm glad to rewatch it with you guys and get ur commentary on it. You guys trying to figure out the meaning of Quinn's flaps were the highlight. it will get very messy so get prepared hehe ;) side note: all students present in the sex ed (sluts) class are all important characters so u may wanna remember their names; harper, amerie, quinni, darren, ant, spider, malekai, dusty,ca$h,sasha, and missy

Beach gurl Bi

Aussie queer here, today's helpful Aussie translations are: To wag school= to skip either some classes or the whole day. Cunt= multi use depending on the inflection, eg- oi cunt= come here dickhead. Head nod followed by hey cunt= endearing greeting between close mates. He's a bit of a cunt= he is a bit of a dick, but we love him for it. You fucking cunt= it's gunna be a punch on. Mad cunt= they are awesome. ESHAY= a CHAV. so the addidas tracksuit drug dealing character is an "eshay" so a "chav". I will be here for any future translation services. Your welcome 😜💅

I loved watching the show with you, it's been on my watchlist but hadn't gotten around to it. The swearing is pretty normal for us in Ireland, if you don't swear at your friends, they think they have done something wrong ! I really have to tone down my language when I visit my aunt in England, it's not considered vulgar here.

Trisha Renee

Hilarious! And yes, this one stays pretty raunchy all the way through.

Steffi K.

you guys are so amazing, i am always smiling when i look your videos. your reaction to this was great as always, but especially Alex's "i worry about you sometimes, i think we need to have a visuell function test", i can't stopp laughing.😅 i really loved it!❤️❤️

Well thank you! I watched the whole season recently. I figured out wag was based on context but eshay was still confusing me even after google search. Are most drug dealers - eshay? It is an interesting look for drug dealer. Haha!

Amy Carter

So excited this shows next! I think it’s safe to say you can stop guessing what happened to Harper… you’ll never get there…it’s a big shocker

Tim Lynch

WOW... You guys are pumpin' out the Gay Sh*t!!! Kudos!

klaire

super excited you guys are reacting to this one! although this show is really out of pocket, i do think it has some amazing representation for many different communities. like you mentioned, i think the pronoun conversation was super cool because of its sort of casualty. a lot of people struggle to get pronouns right and i think characters like darren help everyone learn. also, all of these characters are super complex so im looking forward to your thoughts on some of their future actions😅

Not necessarily drug dealers. They are youth generally from government housing (council estates) in urban areas, that run in packs and think they are more gangster than they actually are. Usually in and out of juvenile detention, on welfare and up to no good.

Dani

Explaining the ice coffee seen, we’ll an attempt to… the girls attend a government (public in aus) school, low cost. The boys in the boaters are from an all boy private (expensive) school, often get associated with thinking there better than everyone else and generally being disrespectful to lower classes and especially to females. When they pull up next to the girls their first comment is about ‘centrelink’ (government payments / welfare) And of course they follow it up with calling the girls sluts. The girls response of ‘rapists’ and throwing the coffee, seems appropriate to me - reck their lovely uniforms and fancy car 🤭

Nikita Hankinson

Heartbreak high covers a lot of social issues in Australia (very obviously in an up coming episode). I think the rapist comment has a little more meaning behind it. There have been a huge number of private schools involved in SA allegations and the culprits get off basically scott free because mummy and daddy have money. I mean there was even one judge who said that the boy had just made a really bad mistake and that she hoped he didn't let this mistake hold him back in the future. He SA'ed a young woman, filmed it and distributed it. He got probation and the judge actually comforted and hugged his crying mother. The victim was basically ignored. It's happened many many times and the schools and the money cover it up. I think the fact that Amerie calls the private school boys rapists actually says so much more about our society. Sorry for the rant lol

Dani
>>116606440

Yes of course, was skating over the depth of that issue

Kim Engel

💜 This has seriously made my day. I developed a disability this year, that caused me to miss out on yet another fun family event today. I was a bit devo about staying home alone again, until I saw this reaction was available. Thanks for taking my mind off things for an hour, this was a crack up 😂

Kim Engel

As an Aussie I could work out “gatho” from context, but does anyone actually say gatho?

Chris Mackenzie
>>116601631

We never had a cemetery party (probably because there aren't many cemeteries close to people in Canberra - we only have 3). Still, I guess we had oval parties in lieu of cemeteries.

Samm Daugherty

Apparently we swear in the US more than Brits do. I did not react that strongly on first watch bedsides confused by them addressing everyone as cunt. Haha! But your reactions had me in tears from laughing so hard. Your sweet British sensibilities 😉 Im excited for you to see what is too come.

Makayla Hall

So a coulle things 1 there is a plot to this it was kinda confusing at first but gets better as it goes on. 2 without saying to much there is a couple things about Quinns character that are said in the future that make a lot more sense to the fact of why she's so forward. Also I wanna say I was so sad I couldn't watch your reaction to it right when it was posted 😭

Stian Kristoffersen

Well, what a great surprise to wake up to! 🙂 This show was recommended to me based on my viewing history when it came out and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Watching it as soon as I come home from celebrating Pride in our small local community today 🏳️‍🌈

Mildred Locke

Waaah just woke up to this, can't wait to watch it! I've been meaning to rewatch this series so what better way to do it that with you fine fellows!

Berni Sweeney

Some more cultural context, this is set in an inner city school which often have an odd mix of kids with quite alternative parents, rich kids and social housing kids. Most Australia schools have uniform but the inner city schools tend to be a bit more alternative so often don't. In the same suburbs are the elite private schools which are often single sex. A number of boys schools had scandals with students displaying very sexist behaviour around the time this show was written. ...https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2019/oct/22/st-kevins-college-apologises-over-students-sexist-chant-on-melbourne-tram

Sam S

This landed just as I was going to bed, so I saved it to watch this morning. When I first watched this show, I constantly felt like I had whiplash! 🤣 And I can only imagine what anyone checking my Google search history would think… 🫢😜 Watching your reactions made me feel less old (or possibly just more British), as you had so many of the same questions and reactions that I did.

Suze

I’m so glad you’re reacting to this. I watched it because I loved the original heartbreak high wayyyyy back (it was nothing like this!) and ended up absolutely loving it. It’s crazy and ott and completely ASWT-worthy.

Suze
>>116613273

Nah, we definitely swear a lot over here. I think Josh and Alex were probably just shocked by how much swearing was in a show that seems like it’s for teens. Maybe we also think Australians are pure 😂

Suze
>>116606440

Oh my god, this is awful! Reminds me of Brock Turner.

Apricot M

Quinnie is my favorite character! I was so happy to see someone like her in TV show.. won't spoil you much, will wait till you find out more about her 😉

Jennifer Fell

The representation and diversity gets better and better and better as heartbreak high goes through the series... All the main characters have important stories to tell and its beautiful to watch unfold... stick with it through the chaos and I promise you won't regret it x

Kim Engel
>>116625826

It’s on Netflix in Australia. I’m not sure about other countries.

MrsSandyG

I didn't realise I had seen this show until I saw the map 🤣 still can't remember what it was about 🫣

Ophelia

One reason it kinda highlighted Darren's dad is because he is from the original Heartbreak High. This is a reboot, and Darren's dad was an original cast member in the show. He kind of played the 'bully' role in the OG Heartbreak High. The lady who runs the restaurant Darren works at is also from the original show, as well as another brief character in a later episode.

Kevin

Oh, you are in for a ride. This show is messy. Elite is a good comparison.

Tori Jeri
>>116624973

as someone who is also like her i totally second this!!! we BARELY get this kind of representation, honestly the best rep i’ve ever seen imo

Alina

Have you guys seen Sex Education? It's a similar vibe to this but british and imo better

Griffin

The overarching story this season really is “What happened to Harper?” Because it drives a lot of Amelie and Harper’s motivations. So it is almost like a “whodunnit” because we have all these questions about what happened in between the start of the festival and first day of school and we keep getting clues as to what occurred that night and who was involved.

Griffin

When can we expect the next? Is this a once a week or twice a week post?? Dying to see you guys see more

Renata Oliveira

yeah I've tried to watch this show but I couldn't get passed the first episode. I can't relate to anyone, perhaps I'm a bit too old? LOL I hope you guys react to Sex Education, a much better series than this one in my opinion.

Alvie

I had put off watching this show since the original Heartbreak High was something we elder millennials used to watch as teenagers, and I wasn't sure we really needed yet another remake... but I actually really enjoyed the first ep with you! Also love seeing your reaction to Aussie language. Yup, c*nt is sprinkled through conversation far more readily here. :)

Kevin B.TX

Sex Education IS great!
