Comments

YaYa

it’s been fun! time to bring it on home! so excited to see what you guys thought of this *very strange* finale lol

Aldo Gonzales

Shoutout to Pug. He’s the unsung hero of this show as far as I’m concerned. I wouldn’t have been comfortable around a toxic group like Intelligencia either. Marvel Studios demands your silence. For me the NDA part was the one of the funniest moments of the show. We were all fooled the first time we saw this. We thought we were gonna get a cameo from Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, but at least the camera had a cap over his lens. It’s a little nod to the real Kevin wearing caps all the time. “When are we getting the X-Men?” In the MCU, we don’t know. At least we have X-Men ‘97 which is season six of the original 90’s cartoon, and we have Ms. Marvel as a mutant. That reminds me: I hope you guys resume the X-Men movies soon. The next entry called First Class is one of the best films in the franchise. Overall, I personally enjoyed this series. However, I did feel like the plot was a bit dragged on when I watched it for the first time about two years ago. There were some plot lines that I enjoyed more than others. For example, I preferred Jen joining Emil’s therapy circle more than Titania crashing the wedding party. If I were to make any changes to the show, I wouldn’t necessarily erase some of the plot lines. Rather, I would compile them into six episodes with each one lasting about an hour. Overall, this series in particular is much better to enjoy in one run or three parts at most. And finally, my initial theory regarding Bruce’s return to Sakaar was that the Grandmaster would be seeking his champion again. I was worried that this was a one-way ticket back to the Contest of Champions. I know the Commodore was destroyed, but the ship we saw in the first episode was the same exact model.

The biggest issue with Phase 4 and 5 of the MCU has been carelessness. I like She Hulk and I want to see more of her. But when, where, why? What movie does she fit into in the MCU? The first 3 phases developed a trust with the audience: 'if we're introducing a character they will come back, they will evolve as part of the larger narrative'. Now the MCU keep expanding with no sense of direction. And yes that's like the comics but it's also what alienates those of us who are not comic readers. Where we used to have definitive arcs we now having sprawling ideas without cohesion. Hulk has a son?! The Avengers was literally a promise that all of these threads would add up each phase. But now who knows. Are we getting a young Avengers? Will the actors they hired even be young by the time it comes out?? Im lost

YaYa

she fits perfectly into the Hulk movie that they’re setting up lol. the young avengers just got teased in the marvels. i think you’re overthinking a lot of this

o.o

great review. looking forward to the gotg stuff and I cant wait till you get to loki season 2.

George Baxter

what Hulk movie? None has been announced to happen at least in the next 3 years! Hulk characters are expected to appear in the next Captain America, for some reason... No Young Avengers has been announced either. Yes they 'tease' but it used to be that a teaser was a prelude to a movie already in development. And what do people actually want from a Hulk movie now? 5 different hulk characters who can all talk?? 3 of which have already worked out their issues?? It would make sense to do another season of She-Hulk but that seems incredibly unlikely...

Ray H

Emil was referring to Wong getting sucked in watching the Sopranos. Wong probably is watching Breaking Bad cuz peak TV.

James

Just when you thought it couldn’t break the 4th wall even more she straight up exits her show on the menu and goes to Marvel studios and talks about the show. I also think it’s funny that they poke fun at the creative team is just an AI pushing out “perfect content”. Also holy shit Hulk has a son??

Thurrak

@George, you are incorrect, we had no idea if we were going to get more of any of the characters they introduced, they just brought them back because the people telling the stories were telling stories with them in it. With adding a lot more characters to the MCU we can't have them all in everything.

George Baxter

No idea... in 2014 we literally had a 5 year Marvel slate announcing each Captain America film and both Avengers (Comic Con, post-credits scenes used to hint at the film they would be in). They used to literally say 'Captain America will return in...' during the credits! I want to see many of the characters phase 4&5 introduced come back (Werewolf by Night, Moonknight, She-Hulk, etc) but there is no indication if, when or how (which is what I said). My argument is that's a problem, why invest in these one-off's when the bread and butter of the MCU for years was making characters popular and then bringing them back??

Georg Eide

Thank goodness it's over. I recommend that you all go read the She-Hulk comics. They have actual comedy, great action, and a likable Jen. There are actual stakes and great characters that develop a lot on both sides. Really sad for Tatiana Maslany, though, as she was great in the role, but despite how hard she tried, even she couldn't make this writing enjoyable unless every brain cell is turned off completely.

William

"Too different from the comic." That induced an aneurysm-inducing eye-roll that almost killed me. This is easily the most comic-accurate thing Marvel has done since the inception of the MCU. Kids today...sheesh! 💚

Thurrak

Yea Loki S2 is just amazing television, one of my favourite Seasons of TV ever.

Thurrak

Because back then the MCU was much smaller scale, we only got one or two movies a year and they had a clear idea of what they were doing leading up to the next big thing. They were also pretty terrified of everything falling apart so they kept doing what was working, but what they learned was that new characters and new movies were what people really wanted, Black Panther was a huge hit, GOTG was a huge hit. They were new characters at the time and we instantly were wanting more of them. I just really don't like it when people demand we get more of the same when there are tons of new stories to be told about new characters. It all comes down to what story are the directors and writers wanting to tell. Let them cook. If its new great, if its not new then also great. But there is no one way of doing it. It's up to them.

George Baxter

All agreed, you're not contradicting my argument though. I like that they experimented with new directors and characters. But spreading the narrative so much without a larger pay-off or sense of continuity just wastes potential. Take the twist at the end of Moonknight with Jake Lockley. Im sure many people want to see that continued but when?? Will it ever be?? Or America from Multiverse of Madness?? And now we're getting X-Men but Marvel is reducing production to 3 films and 2 TV shows a year. I'd love to see another series of Hawkeye or moon knight or another Halloween special but there's no room!! Instead we get Quantumania which doesnt feel experimental it feels like a waste of a precious movie slot!

Deathhead

Still don't like the ending and even if you disagree you have to admit that there was no point in the blood, hulk king, or everything really if they just erased the conflict in a meta way, that's my beef with the show, they could just have her origin story and have the end barbecue and it would have been the exact same story, nothing actually happened. The only things that matter in the whole show is Jen becomeing She-Hulk, the reintroduction of Daredevil and Hulk having a son, the rest is pointless.

Orphan Black! Please consider watching! ... I just needed to add that one last time

The Goateed Geek

I never object to someone disliking something, I've disliked lots of things. But what I hate are those who are criticizing others because they enjoy it. The big issue lately has been the brain-dead mouthbreathers who blanket create clickbait YouTube videos protesting female led or diverse projects along with the sad incels they provide voice too. It drowns out actual intelligent discourse where we can speak reasonably about something.

Nancy Scogin

Please do Loki season 2 before moving to the Netflix stuff. That stuff will take years. Thanks.

ondraya

I loved this finale! Meta, 4th Wall Breaking Stuff is always my favorite in shows. Love when shows can criticize themselves. And She-Hulk was a blast, one of my favorite light hearted shows to watch! Can't wait for Black Panther Wakanda Forever! This movie is just...amazing.

Michael Celia

I know...what annoys me the most is when people make these negative opinions before a show/movie is even released. Like, they haven't even seen it yet...

Michael Celia

They didn't just break the 4th wall, they smashed it. I know some didn't like this ending, but like the rest of the show I personally thought it was a lot of fun. Not everything has to be taken so seriously - it's all just popcorn entertainment after all. I'm looking forward to seeing how they carry She-Hulk forward in other titles.

MSephiroth

A year and a half actually with 2 episodes a week And of course they will do the other stuff first, they have said so before.

James

Wow

Jen D. Niimii Migiizi Kwe

I hope they do Loki season 2 before the Netflix stuff too!!! Loki is so important.

Sven Hudec

Here for this comment!

Thurrak

Yea second on this. I think just do Netflix stuff on the side when there is no new stuff to watch. Because there is a LOT of it.

Thurrak

Seems like you are criticizing them for what they haven't done, rather than what they have. Creating these projects takes time, money and effort and requires a group of creative people to get behind it. We should be happy we have gotten as much content as we have, ever since the introduction of streaming services we have been spoiled by the amount of content.

Jenny Lee Villanueva

I enjoyed She Hulk a lot, and loved rewatching with you 💜💜

Deathhead

Maybe Agents of Shield too.

Richard Batten

Agreed!!! I really like this show. It is easily in the top half of the MCU TV shows for me. Off the top of my head, Daredevil, Wandavision, and Loki are the only ones that I would put above it.

Juanita Córdoba

¡Hi, Rob and Trin! Greetings from Colombia. First I wanna say that I love your reactions, I have a fun time watching them. It was because of your YouTube videos that I decided to get a patreon subscription. Is so entertaining to see you react to movies and TV shows. And also wanted to say... I consider Tatiana Maslany (Jen Walters/She-Hulk) a great actress. She's so versatile, I find her acting so satisfying, entertaining, and enjoyable. And I wanted to make a suggestion for future reactions, if I may. You guys could maybe consider to see her performance in ORPHAN BLACK. I think you guys would love it. It's a great drama and Sci-fi TV show. It has a great acting from Tatiana and a very interesting storyline. Unfortunately, people don't know much about it and is SO underrated, but it's sooo good, imo. Hope in the future you guys could give the show a try.

George Baxter

But the excessive amount of content wasn’t for our benefit; it was to prop-up Disney+ when it started. She-Hulk cost $225 million. That’s more than Dune 2! Its quality just doesn’t match that excess in cost, especially if they don’t plan on a season 2 or even know what else to do with She-Hulk. There is no Hulk movie in the works

DracoMint

I disagree with whoever says its not comic accurate, because it mostly is, at last in a modernized way. The main difference is Jen's feelings toward She-Hulk, in the comics she loves being She-Hulk because it gives her confidence and makes her feel sexy etc. which I can understand why they changed, though I think there's ways they could have made that work too. What I don't like is that some things that worked in the comics didn't translate well to TV, especially the ending and I personally don't like when there's no actual story going through the show that pays off in the end. I think the show was fun for what it was and I think Jen is cool and looking forward to seeing her in other stuff, but this show was a 50/50 for me.

Jan T

I really enjoyed this series. I did feel the ending of the finale was a bit unsatisfying, in terms of the storyline, but I’ll certainly be on board for a second season. Loved seeing Matt reintroduced in this way. Really looking forward to seeing the Netflix shows again, especially Daredevil and Jessica Jones.

FedeM

completely agree!

Brendan R Colquitt

They super complained about one of the Netflix shows too cuz there's just no pleasing everyone. Glad your probing to yourselves even when something is panned it can be fun. This wasn't my favorite shoe but she hulk was 4th wall breaking before deadpool was even a thing so it works well

CSGTV

I dont mind diversity or a female lead, the problem is they suck now lol. and Disney/Marvel/Lucasfilm has been relentlessly cramming diversity down our throats. So while I partially agree, however to call them incels or mouthbreathers doesn't sound like you are okay with someone disliking it. These characters they make in the name of diversity are garbage. We dont have female leads like Ripley, Sarah Conner, Leia Organa, etc anymore. Instead every show its distracting how weak or unnaturally diverse the characters are. It would be one thing if these "creators" hadnt flat out insulted us fans by constantly telling us any time we dont like something we are ists, phobes, and toxic wHHIte male fans

CSGTV

Well when the majority of people say its garbage maybe there is some merit to that.

Brendan R Colquitt

Not for everyone and THEY apparently would have missed a fun show

Thurrak

Who is "the majority"? The bots who spam 1 star reviews on rotten tomatoes? It got certified fresh from critics... aka people who actually are proven to be real people.

Thurrak

Did you not watch the show?? She did enjoy being She-Hulk. And the story that you don't think is there, is her struggling with the idea that people only like her as She-Hulk and she wants people to also like her for Jen and still be able to do what she loves being a lawyer.

DracoMint

I didn't say she didn't enjoy being she-hulk, just pointed out how in the comics it was different as she didn't get the insecurities and worries of the show and I think that stuff was more realistic anyway so I like that change. Her struggle with people liking her as She-Hulk and not as regular Jen, yes of course it was a story, just not something that really paid off. There was just a gradual natural adjustment period for her to get used to it really, which is fine and would have been great as one of a few stories or the character growth side story or something alongside a main plot. What they put in as hinting toward a overarching plot in Intelligencia did intentionally not pay off and that was the closest thing they had. Each episode, that was the stuff people was curious about and wanted to know where it was going. Jen coming to terms with She-Hulk and her normal self was the obvious natural progression of things, that wasn't the mystery about the show. And not every show needs a mystery, sure, a episodic show with self contained stories each episode it's fine, it's just not something I get invested in usually, but that's just a me thing. I enjoyed the comedy, the cameos, the use of obscure comic characters I'm familiar with and I did really enjoy Jen as a character.

Cameron kutz

I’m sorry but the “not comic accurate” remark is totally untrue even one of the biggest she hulk comic writers said this show was very comic accurate that guy who left the comment just hates the show.
